Friday night feature live Irish music. It's not very good Irish music but it is Irish.
My beer was cold and tasty and pretty cheap. My food was hot and typical pub grub that can be found at any Irish pub in the state. It's done okay. My steak fries were pretty good but if you can manage to screw up steak fries there is no hope.
The oddest thing about this place was the plethora of families with little kids in tow. Little kids allowed to run around the place bumping into things and standing on chairs. THIS IS Â NOT A GYMNASIUM OR A PLAYGROUND! It's a damn pub. Why do people bring their kids into a pub? I go to pubs to drink. Which their parents were also doing, their parents were too drunk to stop the kids from acting like little animals. What the hell.
Cheap cold beer, tasty fries and okay food get this place 3 stars, the weird atmosphere with kids in a clearly adult setting detracts 3 stars. A 2.5 star place if there ever was one, but yelp doesn't do halves, so 2.
Oh the waitstaff? Adequate. Â Intermittently inattentive. Pleasant.
Open late and conveniently located 30 seconds away from my friend's apartment in Salem. Â Went down on the tail end of the evening a few weeks ago and enjoyed some reasonably priced drafts and some darts. Â The crowd looked a little interesting...and had I been interested in a story I would tell for the rest of my life I would have considered interacting with them.
Oh and the bartender there is a most proficient tendress. Â I saw her do a back flip in between staging pints of Guinness.
