Awesome service from Shaina P and a great spot to sit after a day of skiing and riding out on the patio.

The special was a flatbread margharita pizza and it was absolutely delicous!

Had a couple glasses of chard and my friend had some beer.

But the flatbread pizza was amazing!

So this season the 7800 has gone from strength to strength. Absolutely the best deal on the mountain. Great food much cheaper than the resort and great beer prices - $4 premium drafts! They still have a couple of service blips and service can be slow sometimes - BUT that is also true of the Vail resort places. The people here are so friendly. It is family friendly. We have had dinner in the evening with our 8 year old. Kids are fine until around 9pm on Saturday when the live music starts and things change. They serve a local coffee for your morning latte - Blind Dog - pretty good!
Whether it is a snowy day sat by the fire or a sunny day on the deck, 7800 is the place to be at Kirkwood - support the Independents!
    Free WiFi too!

7800 is a popular bar/restaurant at the Kirkwood Ski Resort. Located on the 1st floor of the Towers building, it offers a full bar (daily $4 microbrews and $2 Coors), restaurant, fireplace, and an ample amount of table seating. There is also an outdoor patio with seating, which is a great place to hang out on a sunny day. My friends and I like to meet here for drinks, food, and the down to earth ambiance.

The food is usually pretty good (I'm not too picky when I'm cold and have been skiing all day) but service can be very hit or miss. Come when it's crowded and you can be waiting 1 1/2 hours for your food - SERIOUSLY. They don't seem to be prepared for a full house as their standard reply for a ridiculous wait time for your food is "We're really busy right now". I've worked in the restaurant industry before and this should NOT be your standard excuse for slow service. If they could improve upon this, I would happily give 5 stars to 7800.

Get within 1000 ft of a ski lift, and there isn't ANYTHING that is sanely priced.

Enter the 7800 grill.  $2 Coors, $4 premium drafts, and in my opinion great diner food.
Service was a lil' slow at prime Apres Ski time, but hey, we had beers to keep us occupied.

It is a great little independently run (I think) place, and their food was solidly tasty.  Our group got spaghetti and meatballs, a chili dog, a philly steak, and a burger.  I think the meatballs were the standout; you could taste the garlic and basil baked right in.

    I'm refreshed.

Casual, unpretentious and full of locals.  This place is the kind of low key hang out that every ski area needs.  I like beer selection, outdoor BBQ and the pool table in the back.  The new owners here have brought life to this ski-in locations and I wish them well.

Significantly better than the other food holes in Kirkwood. These guys know how to give a bang for the buck - especially at $4 for a draft and limitless entertainment with the local ski bums. Go for the fries and mix em with Sriacha. Done RIGHT.

At the base of the Kirkwood ski area, this place is undoubtedly the cool bar. While not exactly the place I'd envision for a vacationing family, our crew will definitely return on our next visit. We sat inside, there being record cold temps that week, but there is a patio in full view of the afternoon sun. There's a pool table and plenty of TVs to distract you

Music: randomness with the obligatory reggae mixed in, fairly loud

Fare: you guessed it, bar food (think chicken wings and fries), though they also had a variety of other higher-end items

Bar: full. Tip in advance and you'll get rewarded ;)

Check it out! If nothing else, the people watching's great ;)

This is definitely the best bar in Kirkwood, and it's the only place in town that is actually independent from Vail Resorts.

There's a huge deck with a great view of the slopes; definitely check it out on a sunny day when the BBQ is going.  Inside, there's a giant fireplace, a well-stocked bar, TV's, and a pool table.  There's usually a fun crowd, including a bunch of the locals, lifties, and the like.  They've got some awesome microbrews on tap and solid bartenders.

The chili here is fantastic and they've got a pretty typical bar menu with a large number of choices.  Good burgers and appetizers, along with some more upscale items like beef skewers, duck, asian noodles, etc.

Open mic nights, karaoke, and usually a live band on Saturdays.  This is the only bar in town that is actually happening after 9 p.m., so if you're looking for something to do after dinner, this is definitely the place to be.

This was the only eatery open at night within walking distance of the village. Its a pretty cool place, lots of TVs everywhere. If you're going just to drink its a great place.

Their food is less than mediocre, the canned clam chowder is just okay and their chili is nothing to write home about. Their prices are steep for the food you get, but if you're reading this review and its past 9 PM and you don't want to drive to food, you really don't have a choice now do you? The quesadilla might be your safest bet.

Great place to come for happy hour after a long day of skiing. Typical dive bar feel. Also has a pool table that you can use and it costs a dollar in quarters for each game.

We found this place during Thanksgiving weekend 2012.  Great place!  The food, service, atmosphere, and price is much better than standard resort fare.  The food was really good quality: organic chicken, fresh salads.   The staff/owners were very friendly and attentive.  I highly recommend taking an extra two minutes to walk to this place and have a great lunch between runs.

Finally....a friendly bar in Kirkwood with reasonably priced drinks and a fresh, interesting menu!

I missed almost the entire 2011/12 ski season because of my knee but was excited to find out this weekend, 5/5/12, that the old Tower had changed hands and is now 7800 Bar & Grill.  The look inside is WAY better and quite cozy.  They have performance bands on Fri & Sat nights during the ski season and I hope they will be open on some of the big weekends this summer.

I'll have to agree with Jenna B (below).  I had the Tuna Poke and it was Oh So Tasty!

You will not find 7800 advertised on any Kirkwood literature as it is not technically part of "The Establishment"....and thank goodness - otherwise we'd have only those monopolistic prices and attitudes.

Thank you to the new manager and staff (yay Melinda) at 7800 - apparently you've worked out the kinks of your first season and you guys are awesome.  We'll be back to try the rest of the menu!

Food is reasonable price for a resort. Quality of food was average. Service needs work.  Ordered a Philly cheese and plain nachos

    Animal House.

They were completely overwhelmed. Ran out of food. Cook walked out. Mayhem.
Probably the most mismanaged establishment I've ever visited. Although a bad night for everyone all around, there is a right way and a wrong way to handle it.

I'll starve before I patronize this place again. Wait.  I starved even though I did patronize the place.

The four star rating is relative to the other choices nearby.

We ate here twice during our stay -- they offer a better menu, better execution, and better pricing than the Kirkwood resort restaurants (to be candid though, that's not a very high bar).  Our first meal here was great.  Our second time was not as good, both in terms of service and food -- we ordered some of the same dishes as the previous night and oddly, they came out rather different.

Staff is friendly, and the fireplace is cozy, but there are two external doors leading directly to the dining room so it's pretty drafty as well.

Friday nights they have open mic as well as music (band or DJ) starting around 6:30 or 7.

Overall, we liked it much better than the restaurants we tried at the resort.  (We didn't try the Kirkwood Inn, which looks like it could be a good alternative.)

The best thing to say about this place is that it is convenient. They have a very simple variety of beer on tap. If you like Coors or IPAs then you will find yourself at home. Unfortunately that sums up their tap menu. The ambiance is rather nice and the staff are very helpful. I will be back if only for the fact that it is convenient but also because I want to try their food. Please, oh please branch out in your beer taps. It is winter after all and you only have summer types of beers. Maybe a good porter. Just one will be fine.

This place got high recommendations from locals, so we thought we'd give it a try. I'm not sure if someone in our party offended the server or if our party was too large (there were about 15 of us), but the service was mediocre and the food was subpar. I actually liked my food which was ahi tartare. Most of the group ordered the burger, which I guess the largest complaint for the bleu cheese burger was that it came with avocado and no one got avocado on theirs, and they made a big deal about getting the avocado to the ppl with that order. One person ordered the steak which I think took about 30min to come out and I don't think he enjoyed it very much. I think the icing on the cake was from our bill of $136 including gratuity, which we paid $146, the server came back and told us we were $4 short. My friends triple checked and most people had left for the night, so it was a bit ridiculous that he came back for the $4. Kind of pathetic actually. If someone is $4 short on 18% gratuity when you probably only deserved a 10% tip, I think it's pretty petty to come back. Especially because I ordered the cheapest meal and no drink, already chipped in an extra $10 for the group and I got stiffed with another $4. Could be an unlucky night for us, but that's the last time we listen to the locals for suggestions.

If you're looking to grab an adult beverage, or looking for REASONABLY priced food, don't go hit up any of Kirkwood Resorts restaurants/bars!

I have never been to 7800 before today, and it was formerly called "The Tower."  The staff is friendly, laid back, and the inside of the small facility feels like a homely, rustic cabin, complete with a big cozy fireplace and large cushioned lounge chairs.  The seating arrangements around the fireplace are casual, unique, and is ideal for large groups.

I've heard they just revamped their menu- and I think what they have to offer is not only much more affordable than the Resort menu, but it has more variety of cuisines (some of which are Asian inspired), healthy options, great portion sizes, and unique ingredients.  You definitely get the most bang for your buck there.  Not only that but they offer a breakfast, lunch, and late night menu.  How awesome is that!?

I spent a while chatting with staff members during pre-lunch hour, and they were all friendly and fun to talk to.  I couldn't decide what to eat since I don't like to eat big meals when I am snowboarding, and per a staff members suggestion I tried the Tuna Poke... if you like sushi, you will LOVE THIS DISH!  It comes served with home made wontons for dipping, and it is basically raw (sushi grade) tuna with minced cucumbers and a bit of red onion in a sweet spiced glaze.  The staff member, Heather, said "I didn't think I would like it but I think it is probably the best thing on the menu."  It totally hit the spot and now I am craving it again :D

Later that evening my friends ordered everything from Burgers to Fried Mozzarella Sticks, French Fries, Nachos, Chilli... everything looked to die for and all my friends were raving about the food.

They have a pretty extensive menu, and a full bar... this place can't be beat!

Day drinking is not only widely practiced, it's encouraged. The food is slightly lacking and a little over priced, but there's always plenty of snow bunnies and Irish coffee specials!

New place open where the old Tower Bar was. It's fairly small and cosy, with a decent bar and menu, and prices that you'll definitely like if you're used to typical ski resort gouging. I especially appreciate the $1 first beer for season pass holders - that's pretty sweet. They have a kid's menu too, which is a plus.

The staff are friendly, though still a bit disorganised. They've gotten smoother over the past few weeks, and it's never been a hassle, just typical new-establishment teething.

Overall, it's a great addition to Kirkwood, and I go to the 7800 in preference to the other local options now.

7800 just opened replacing Tower Bar(an old Kirkwood favorite of mine).  I will have to go back and try 7800 again when the staff gets some experience under their belt... (I'll re-review then)

The food was very similar to Tower Bar and still some of my favorite at Kirkwood, but they now have wait service.  I am not sure how the wait service is going to work on a crowded day... and the inexperienced staff was very apparent.

We started off by getting a few beers at the bar.  Somehow the price for a Sierra Nevada and a stout was just $2 TOTAL! It must have been a grand opening special, but it would be fantastic if it was a regular deal!

We then sat down at around 2PM and we did not receive our food until 2:45PM!(it wasn't even crowded) It seemed like they lost our order, because the guy who was either a manager or owner, came over around 2:30 and asked us what we were having.  He also asked my buddy how he wanted his tri-tip cooked... I have never heard of having a choice when it comes to how your tri-tip is cooked!

I had the philly cheese steak and it was good(similar to Tower Bar), but my buddy's tri-tip was dry.  The manager/owner offered to give us another drink on the house due to the delay, but we declined.  I would have hoped he would have taken a few dollars off of our bill, but someone else gave us our bill, and I guess they were clueless to the significant wait we endured.

I have high hopes for this place, and will have to try again in about a month...
