Cute little club in downtown Gilroy. I don't drink so I can't really rate the bar, but looks like they had plenty of beer and some mixed drinks. However my daughter said when her boyfriend tried to order a Jack & Coke, they didn't have Jack, they had "whiskey". Not sure what that was about.... Ladies bathroom was not disgusting like in some clubs so that was a bonus :)

They say this place was resurrected a few times to earn its 9 lives. Fun times watching Points North. Definitely guitar oriented raunch 'n roll. I almost want to throw lighter fluid on something and light it on fire. I forgot about how your ear would start to buzz after so many high E notes. I had a good time. A bit far for me to crawl home to, but it's a nice venue for this style music.

Big pro venue yet not snotty.  Some interesting local acts.  Fair priced drinks, if you want $10 cocktails, go to a bar.

This club was an awesome place to have some fun in Gilroy!! The bartenders were super quick, and wonderful. The music is always great. They have such a variety of bands and genres, you can never go wrong! The owner is great, and takes great pride in keeping this music venue a great place of entertainment.

I really enjoyed my time at 9 lives! I used to go a lot when it was The Gaslighter and in no way did the gaslighter compare to how it is now. The staff is very upbeat and friendly - I felt like I was a regular with how well I was treated during my visit. The setup inside is really nice and I like how it has been painted since it switched owners and business all together. Such a great venue to kick back and watch a good line-up of bands of all genres. It is wonderful to have a place dedicated to the music scene back in Gilroy!

One of the best venues in South County Bay Area, with a bar that serves pizza & snacks, along with beer, wine, and limited alcohol. Plenty of seating, tables, and a generous dance floor right in front of the stage. Several bands playing weekly, Jorge, the owner, finally brings a nightlife to Downtown Gilroy.

Like the good ol' days. This is a killer club to see  national and local acts.
The owners seem very nice and it's got a great vibe!

This venue is probably called 9Lives because of the number of times it has died and come back over the years.

About ten years ago, this place was known as The Gaslighter and when the music scene in Gilroy was alive and kicking. Regional and nationally recognized bands like Incubus, Alien Ant Farm, and Papa Roach tore up the place. Gilroy-bred bands like Salmon built a faithful following here.

Fast forward to today, 9Lives is attempting to resurrect the South Bay/South County music scene. Live music features diverse genres ranging from blues, rock, country, reggae, and everything in between. Cover charge is affordable at about $10 or less at the door. Food is bare minimum with the likes of hot dogs and chips. No draught beer, only bottled. The venue is small-medium in size. Still an intimate setting, but more room for movement than a can of sardines like the Blank Club.

Note: NO MOSHING. Security guards said it was a liability. Oh, like the dark purple bruises I ended up with after I somehow managed to fall twice in the pit? That's just my bad. I'm getting to old for this physical brutality. Actually, I'm just an indie rock wimp.

Question: What's up with the Fillmore posters along the entrance hallway? I mean, I know the Fillmore gives away free posters at sold out shows and they certainly make great wall art, but the last time I checked, this is 9Lives, was The Gaslighter, but is not the Fillmore. Hopefully they'll be replaced with great local, live music posters some day.

I'm stoked that Gilroy has a live music venue again. Looking forward to checking out local bands and maybe even some well-known acts.
