I can't say enough about the Boatswains burger at the admiral. Â There are times I crave the burger so intensely that temporary blindness sets in. Â I love the english muffin as the bun. Â man, I'm getting hungry just writing about it. Â The fries are good, not great. Â They always have a good draught beer selection. Â I think Hob Goblin is the one I usually get. Â it's the funky looking pull-handle on the left. Â In addition the place is a little smokey, I like the smell but a little less smoke would be nice. Â Seating is limited and there are a few oddly place support poles that wold be better if gone... Aesthetically anyways... I'm sure they have a job to do. Â The smallness of The Admiral is part of the coziness that I like however. Â
Ok, now I've done it... think I need to go get a Boatswains burger now.
The Admiral is an alright place to eat. The food is good, but the menu is a little small. It's great for pub food, but I wouldn't order the fancier dishes being that it is a pub. It's better to stick with what you know they're good at. Draft beer selection could use a little more selection, but what they have isn't bad either.
Staff and bartender are all extremely friendly and the service is great. My biggest problem with this place is the business hours they hold. I can't tell you how many times I have tried this place for dinner on an idle Wednesday, Thursday, or Monday (just throwing out random days here) and the place was closed, it made no sense. Why would a place be closed on a Wednesday evening? Because the place always seemed to be closed whenever we wanted to go there we have since chosen other options to avoid such a hassle.
If you do plan on going here, call ahead to make sure they are open. Food itself is good though so I do recommend....as long as they are open.
Not so happy with our experience. Â Very dirty! Â The entrance of the restaurant was filthy! Â Along with the restroom! Â If you don't care what the entrance of your restaurant looks like what do the places that your customers can't see look like!
Food was just so so! We were a party of six and no one was very happy with their food! Â My advice clean up your act! Literally!
My wife and I just discovered this place. Â Our waitress was great. Â Very friendly. Â Allowed us to sample some of the tap beers. Â The nachos dish was enormous and very good. Â We also tried the panko fish wrap. Â Highly recommended. Â
The beer on tap is limited but there is an extensive collection of great bottled beers. Â We loved the size of the booths and the friendly atmosphere. Â We definitely moved this place to one of our top choices for a quick, informal meal.
Rachel, our waitress, helped make our evening memorable. Â Good food, good prices, good service. Â Does it get any better than this?
The Admiral's a decent local spot for a burger and a beer, popular with families. Nice big booths, wood-y, dim lighting. Table service s l o w as molasses...
They add the "New" into English pub with fab clamcakes the size of a small fist.
Not a whole lot going on draft-wise; the usual suspects plus a couple of English ales, which I didn't really dig (flat) but that may just be a personal preference.
Comfortable spot; will definitely give it another go.
The Admiral Pub is a family-friendly New England restaurant-pub with an impressive bar for cheering on your favorite sports teams and enjoying your favorite brew. Yes, televisions provided. Homemade food and daily special menus along with vast choices in libations, both with and without alcohol are served with care by this local Warren-Bristol, Rhode Island family business.
Price range around $10 for sandwich or burger on a bolo (instead of a bun - yummy!) with a side, and up to about $25 for entrees and all the fixings. Some of the favorite unique items include little neck pizza, eggplant parm, and various dishes using their secret "Zippy Sauce".
Nice, cozy, wooden bar atmosphere. Comfy booths and nautical vibe. The food is really good and they go out of their way to make it not only unique, but fresh. The clam cakes are made to order, HUGE, and come with a homemade remoulade for dipping, best I've ever had. Great fish and chips, a very large portion. Buffalo wings come with a chunky, homemade bleu cheese. Very nice beer selection that follows the English pub theme nicely.
Why the 3 star rating? Staff can be inattentive and stand two feet from your table talking not only loud, but non stop throughout your meal. On my first visit our waitress stood in the wait station munching on snacks from a zip lock bag and chatting loudly with her co-worker about herself before making her way to our table 15 minutes later. I am very patient when a server is busy and more than willing to wait, being a one time server for many years myself. However, that's not cool when you are clearly not busy and mere steps from my table. Last visit same staff not only complained loudly  the ENTIRE time we were there about how bored she was and how much she wanted to go home, but talked incescently in this loud voice throughout our entire meal, which was very annoying. I get it was slow, but keep it down a notch, especially when slow, everyone can hear you!. Other than that I would have definately given this place 4 stars for the food and the cozy atmosphere.
Local, pub. Â We go here for a VERY casual dinner when I don't feel like cooking.
The prices are very reasonable and they have very good hot sandwiches.
The chicken marsala sandwich is served on pita with bacon, and cheese I'm a fan of their sweet potato fries  -  I always overeat them.
Steak sandwiches are loaded with mushrooms and melted cheese on a nice french baggette.   Burgers are hand made (not a  patty) and very big.  The meat is very lean and, they have really good flavor.
We are fans of the "zippy sauce" which is a type of light marinade that they use to grill shrimp, and fish. Â We get the grilled shrimp as an appetizer before our sandwiches...
Everything on it tastes home made and very good...nothing HEALTHY on the menu. Â If you're craving salad, steer clear. Â When you want comfort pub food, with a very pleasant casual atmosphere...this is the place.
I
Used to be Tav Vinos in Warren RI (now Tav Vino is the section down by the water and the Admiral is the back end.) Â The menu is a mix of English Pub grub and the casual side of the old Tav Vino menu. Â
Good selection of English beers and some craft brews. Â A few interesting tap selections (Hobgoblin Ale, Monty Python Holy Grail Ale) and decent food. Â The burger I've had was great - some of the other selections are just ok.
Nice spot on the water in Warren - worth a try.
