When this place first opened I just had to try it. I was suspicious simply because this once bustling local family restaurant had no cars in the parking lot. One trip to this join would be enough to last anyone a lifetime. Bad food, bad service, bad attitudes and then the manager tried to justify everything. I couldn't believe his stupidity. Upon inquiring further I discovered that the same family who were trying to make a go of this horrible experiment were the same family that owned and operates the Neptune Diner in Lancaster. I decided I jut had to call the owner and let them know how utterly disgusting my experience was at the Akron facility. He too tried to justify every point I made trying to let him know how bad things were. Thankfully the place has closed and will no longer subject unsuspecting patrons to that kind of abuse. I would never have given it one star except that the system requires you to give it a star rating. It should be a minus 2.
Review Source:This place is down right nasty!! They said chicken croquetts(sp) were homemade. Me thinks not....lets try... Weavers frozen!!! Crabcakes were just as bad. Yikes can you say breadcakes. This place needs to seriously get it's act together!!!! Waitress service sucked too! Â I guess seeing three cars in the parking lot should of told us to STAY AWAY!! No more visits from us!!!!

Review Source:Just stay home and heat up a frozen dinner. It's cheaper and probably came from the same place anyway. Â The Akron Restaurant & Waffle Factory (the latter half of the name having been added since the recent renovation) is only a half step above Denny's, and there are certainly other restaurants nearby more worthy of spending your dollar. I'm giving it two stars instead of one because I didn't have a chance to try the desserts or waffles, which they apparently pride themselves on, judging by the extensive variety offered. However, "Chipster Waffles" aren't made with chocolate chips but rather with chipped beef (ew), and there are quite a few other regional dishes on the menu that are made with suspect animal parts (scrapple, anyone?).
I'm sure I'll be forced to eat here again, if only because of the relative cheapness and proximity to my family's homes. But it's definitely not vegetarian friendly, so I'll try to steer them elsewhere, if I get the chance.
