Ask and ye shall receive! That is the statement that came to mind the first time I walked into Alleged. It has been my dream for too many years for Ogden to have a decent bar to chill at.
My first visit was during the weekend of the Ogden Arts festival. Alleged was keeping the theme by showcasing amazing pieces from local artists. This place is so unique, it has the city's first roof top bar and offers ridiculous views of historic downtown Ogden and some beyond breathtaking sunsets! Capacity on the roof top as current is 50 but, they are building a fire escape so they will soon be able to expand that number much hire.
The ambiance is amazing, they are doing everything right, from the perfectly lit inside lounge to the amazing music..... Radiohead, Death Cab for Cutie, Grizzly Bear, Mike Snow, etc. etc. =LOVE. It is the ONLY bar in town playing good music. I love that I can get all dressed up or just ride my bike down in shorts, tank top, and tattoos as I have on my repeat visits and feel equally comfortable and cared for.
The bar is an old whore house from the early 1900's and they play up that fact by naming their deliciously unique cocktails after some of Ogden's most notorious Madams, working girls, and the like. One of my new favorite libations is a cocktail called The Gentile Kate named after a "prominent woman of Ogden both in business and politics. She could provide entertainment the likes of which could not be matched..."
Smirnoff Green Apple Vodka, Smirnoff Blueberry Vodka, Redbull Blue, Splash Cran, Splash. Sprite and a lime garnish yummy!
The staff, (I believe most of them are owners) are so genuine; they are huge supporters of local. They show this support by only offering local beers and using locally distilled spirits in their soon to be infamous signature cocktails. They do however carry one non local beer to keep the hipsters happy and that is Pabst Blue Ribbon.
They are not offering food at this time but if you eat at a local Historic 25th street restaurant and bring in the receipt they will wave your cover charge for the night (how awesome is that?!?!) that is if they even have one which they usually don't.
The roof top is available for private events and in my opinion would be the perfect place for any special event.
To sum it up I am in love with Alleged and I am very excited to see what the future holds for this amazing new space!
