Gotta be honest - this place was just okay.  For a place all about cheeseburgers, the response was a bit underwhelming.  I can't give a completely fair assessment, as I had a chicken sandwich.  Which was also - just okay.  The quality of the chicken didn't seem top notch.  55 (it's alter-ego name) isn't claiming to be fine dining, so I suppose it shouldn't be a disappointment.

The prices were great.  The vanilla malt was actually quite good!  There were a million other flavor offerings of custard and shakes, I wish I could have tried more.

So being out in North Carolina for vacation, I try to go to places that I dont have back home in LA. so this is one of the places that my friend took me to try. If you are looking for a place call "Andys" it is no longer called that it is now called "Highway 55", so dont get mistaken.  I ordered the cheesesteak blue plate special that included fries and a drink for about 7 bucks which is a pretty good deal. I also had a banana and strawberry shake which was really good. The service could have been better, our waitress screwed up the order twice and didn't know the menu all that well. I'm going to blame it on the possibility that she was new. Other than that the food was decent and pricing was affordable.T

These days I'm just as likely to look in a strip mall for someplace to eat as anyplace else.  It seems that I'm about as likely to find a good place to sit down and find something decent to eat as if I stop somewhere that's not in a strip mall.  While in Mt. Olive for the New Years Pickle Drop, we decided to do just that when we came upon Andy's.

While we barely made it in the doors, since they were closing early on New Years Eve (not sure if this was a decision for the holiday, for the Pickle Drop, or a combination both), we did make it in.  We were greeted with a huge dining room, and one that was almost completely empty.  I would imagine that this is because we were in a smallish town, where just about everyone else was headed elsewhere in about an hour.  Perhaps on another night it would have had more people.

This night, there were only two other tables that had people.  Still, the service was friendly, and we ordered up a root beer float and a cheesesteak sandwich.  One word of warning on this sandwich: They come in two sizes - regular and "Andy Size".  If you're like about anyone else, you probably think of 6" and 12".  Not the case here.  We ordered a regular, thinking we'd get a standard sandwich - that's what the picture seemed to indicate.  It was tiny.

It turned out okay, since we weren't very hungry.  But it was probably overpriced.  Good taste, big price.  I think we would have been happier with an Andy Size.  Then again, I don't know how big an Andy Size sandwich is, so I can't say that with any amount of certainty.  The float was very tasty.
