Love this place We were in town for the Stratford Wine and Oyster Fest and came here afterwards. The staff was so nice and went above and beyond to take care of us! The food was amazing! We had a bit of everything as there were 4 of us there. I am not a seafood fan and have never tried oysters before, so one of the owners told me that I had to try some and he was going to make some for me! We had them as well as some scallops and they were AMAZING! When you are there you feel like you are old time friends, part of the family! We loved the place and the people so much that we had to come back the next day just so we could say goodbye! Great people!

This was hard to review. The place was highly recommended so maybe it just did not suit us? Even though seafood was big on the menu maybe it was a mistake to order that in an Italian Joint? Anyway, there are enough other reviews for someone to figure it out regardless.

We arrived early so we found a mostly empty place with our choice of seating. The TV was in the back room with the bar so not wanting to eat while listening to non-stop TV meant we sat in the main dining room. This was good early but turned bad when many of the locals arrived. Actually the ones with young, unattended children were the only issue.

The food was fairly good except the fried veggies that were overcooked and the bread that were more like very small unflavored hockey pucks. The grilled flounder was cooked fine as was the ear of corn that came with the veggies. The salad was pretty good but the Blue Cheese dressing was not the best we have tasted.

The price was fair... Not cheap and not too expensive.

To us it was only a three star A-OK. Maybe the next time we are in the area we will try some pizza for lunch.

Was hungry for a salad (and a pizza) so I tried out Angelo's. What a good find! Got their Tuesday special (twelve inch two topping $7.95 (bargain)) and a large greek salad to go. The pizza was really good, hand-tossed crust with a sweet-ish sauce. The salad was also really good; mixed field greens, some romaine, some iceberg; lots of feta; and some really nice slices of what had to be a straight from the garden tomato that was outstanding. Came with a nice vinaigrette that was just right. Will definitely go back and try their steaks/seafood as mentioned by other reviewers. Certainly looked good!
Only shortcoming: No "to-go" menu (i.e. a paper menu to take with me) and no presence on the internet. So I couldn't call ahead since I didn't know what I wanted without seeing a menu. Also would have liked to have been able to take a menu back to the Harbor View campground (where I'm staying) to share with other campers.

I ordered the steam sea food sampler and was very impressed. A crunchy sweet corn on the cob was paired with 8 crab legs, a bowl of mussels and oysters, jumbo shrimp and something else, but I can't remember. It was fresh and tasted great!

Service is just right and comes with a smile.

They also provide pizzas and italian menu along with the sea food. Make sure you come hungry! It's a lot of food!

My wife and I were staying at a nearby bed and breakfast and were looking for a place for supper. Angelo's is a two-block walk so it was a no-brainer. And other Yelp reviews indicated it was worth a try. We were pleased with the food and the service. The waitress was very friendly and professional. It was a good thing that she pointed out to my wife that what she ordered (baked spaghetti combo) was large enough for two people. I suggested that we share the dish, which we did. It's a good thing. It was huge and more than enough for the both of us. For a small town restaurant we were quite satisfied. The salad before the meal was fresh and of excellent quality.

This is a restaurant with a very relaxed atmosphere. When we went it was full of locals which is always a good sign. You seat yourself and grab a menu when you're ready or they might notice you and bring you one or wipe your table. It is open 7 days a week. The food itself was pretty good. We had a personal-sized pizza (10") and a crab cake platter. The pizza was not greasy, was perfectly done, dry on the bottom, just the way we like it. The edges reminded me of a Chicago-style pizza. The crab cakes were deep fried, very tasty and full of crab. They had very little filler. I ordered it with steamed vegetables and was pleasantly surprised to see farm vegetables not from a frozen bag. The waiters were very nice and the price was right.

Always excellent.  Best in the area.

I will skip the obligatory jokes about the size of Montross.  Generally, in the Northern Neck, there is a lack of decent restaurants, which is kinda expected given it's pretty rural.  Most restaurants are just bars with food, Angelo's Pizza is different.  The pizza is really good. Service is hit or miss, but the pizza is consistent, and it's the only restaurant in the area that is open reasonably late, but also is kid friendly.

Angelo's was recommended to us during a visit to the area and we were delighted with the quality of the food. Two of us had pizza, one had lasagna, and another spaghetti. All were superb. The white pizza was probably the best I have had anywhere in the country. We will only be here another week or so, but we plan to go back at least once before we leave.

I can only speak for their seafood, although I'll try some pizza soon though.  I've been here twice in the past couple weeks.  The first time I ordered the "steamed seafood combination" dinner.  That beast of a meal consists of the following steamed ocean treats: snow crab, oysters, clams, jumbo shrimp and a large vegetable plate.  The quality of the seafood is pretty good, not fresh on the Gulf of Mexico or anything, but for these parts quite good.  The price can't be beat I think all of that was like $23 bucks or something, crazy cheap!  I've also had a great fresh flounder special there as well.  Great fish, definitely fresh with a beautifully moist and flaky texture, superb flavor.  So, seems like a consistent place for seafood.  I would stick with their fresh local catch specials for the best flavors.

Also, good service.  Always packed on the weekends, great family spot!

Went by Angelos to have lunch with a friend.  It was an awesome experience.  I sat at the bar in their second dining room.  As I looked over the wall art I noticed an unusual face on one of the prints.  As I walked over to look closer, I realized that it was Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits fame,  an amazing guitarist.  I knew I was in the right place.

We ordered seafood,  me a combination with oysters,  fish and shrimp, for her Alaska king crab legs.  (It was a late lunch / early dinner and she's a big eater lol) The food was great! Came with a nice little side salad.  Angelos has been a favorite of mine when passing through Westmoreland County on my way to Westmoreland State Park or Fredericksburg.  If I could just get past the steak and cheese which is quite good,  I might actually try a pizza.

My wife and I stopped here for pizza on the way back from a trip to the Northern Neck.  The pizza was excellent, particularly the crispy crust and the cheese.   This is great value for the money.  You might get the pizza to go, though. The place could have been a little more tidy.

My review is somewhat biased since this place came highly recommended by Linda over at General's Ridge Winery and Vineyard.  We didn't stay at the restaurant -- just ordered "to go." Nevertheless, the food was very good.  I ordered a rib eye cheese steak and they made it according to my liking.  We also ordered a large pizza and hands down one of the best pizzas I have had in Va.

I did feel somewhat awkward when entering but once we made our way to the counter to place our order, we were at ease.  I simply chalked the odd looks to folks in a small town recognizing everyone and clearly noticing "out of towners."

Would certainly go back when I am in the area.  Gotta have another slice of that pizza!

Stopped by around 8:30 on a Saturday night.  After being studiously ignored for 10 minutes, we left.  During that time, the wait staff stood at the counter staring into the kitchen, ensuring customers knew their presence was not desired.  I thought maybe we said the wrong secret password, or used the wrong secret handshake...but after some reflection I realized I was wrong....they're just RUDE!

We did have a close call though.  A waitress came to clean the table next to us.   When she too said not a word to us and averted her eyes to avoid any possibility of serving a customer, it pretty much solidified our decision to leave.

Don't waste your time.  Next time you drive past this pathetic excuse for a restaurant, keep on driving.  Dairy Freeze is right down the road and...shocking...they actually like customers!

Given that the town of Montross is about the size of my shoe, I was not *at all* expecting food this good. We went to Angelo's for lunch, and I was aghast at this pizza!

I ordered the 10 inch, expecting a thin-crust pie that I could swallow whole, but no way, man. This crust was super thick, taking me back to my Pizza Hut Book It! days (Children of the 90s, I know you know *exactly* what I'm talking about...) It was like a personal pan pizza, only a bit bigger, so if you're not hungry, I wouldn't advise ordering pizza at all. The sauce was sweet (AMAZING!) and the cheese was good and melty. Oh man. I was not prepared to ingest such good pizza, and so cheap!

Admittedly, it took a long time for our food to come to the table, but since my pizza and everyone else's dishes were so good, it makes sense. The ingredients were quite fresh and you could see nearly everything the cooks were doing, so I didn't mind the time since it resulted in great quality food.

Looks like the residents of Montross have a great little gem on their hands.
