I accidentally stumbled onto Annie's Kitchen in Accident, MD this morning on a road trip when cruising on I-68 through Western MD. If you're in this area for whatever reason, maybe headed to/from a WVU Mountaineers game, taking a Clark Griswold Christmas Tree Adventure or just headed out to see the majestic fall scenery in Western, MD....hit up Annie's ON PURPOSE!

There is a no frills ambiance here at Annie's but don't let that turn you away, the plate in front of you will stick in your head for hours even days if you let it. My family and I ordered from the breakfast menu as it was Sunday AM and just the right time to throw down. Note: Annie ensures the entire menu is served all day long which shows how much they want everyone to be happy. Our table server was prompt, attentive, and personable.

Funny how two days earlier I posted a tip/pic of an omelet that I named the Kitchen Sink omelet from a local DMV diner and at first glance of Annie's menu the real deal "Kitchen Sink" Omelet was staring me in the face; I had to order it! Their Kitchen Sink Omelet is geared towards the true meat lover and boasts of Ham, Bacon, Sausage, Sweet Peppers, Onions, Tomatoes, Mushrooms, American Cheese and home fries folded in a paper thin 3 egg pocket! Wait, we're not done.....This omelet is topped with sausage gravy (which I ordered on the side) and two slices of heavenly homemade bread that is as thick as Texas Toast. The price is $14.95 which may seem hefty for an omelet but trust me...it's worth it. All ingredients were freshly cooked and I didn't get even a hint of 'over greasy' at all which is amazing when you think about what was put into it. The omelet is pictured here: http://www.yelp.com/biz_…

As for the family members, several other plates were ordered to include a simple egg breakfast, a Steak & Cheese Omelet, and the Works breakfast which was two eggs, choice of meat and home fries. All plates were hot, fresh and tasty (see pics to confirm).

I also want to point out I ordered pancakes based on a Yelp tip that I found while walking through the door. I'm not a pancake man (I get them about twice a year) but if a Yelper says get them I will at least take a bite. The pancakes here are made from scratch, fluffy, buttery and THICK! I ordered the Short Stack of two pancakes and my taste buds said "I love you" to me after the first bite. I would recommend the buckwheat pancakes if you're going to have a pancake meal.

Annie's hash browns or home fries are perfect! They are thinly sliced potatoes with light brown edges but cooked completely through....uh YUMMMM is the only word that comes to mind!

Annie's reminds me of the perfect diner/restaurant for 'down-home' cooking. Besides the the menu Annie's offers baked goodies inside the entrance to include fresh pumpkin rolls, cookies, breads, muffins, etc. I will stop here the next few trips across Western, MD for sure and confirm that the foodie in me is fed well. So, for a roadside diner - 5 STARS, well done Ms. Lisa!

Finally, they offer wifi that works! It's fast and easy to connect. I point this out only because I wouldn't expect wifi at a small town local diner but their customer service shows through.

This place is great and worth the short drive from DCL. The buttermilk pancakes are the best I've ever had. Breakfast anytime. Young and attentive and friendly wait staff; never a wait. Good country cookin with great service and attitude. Bakery shop inside too, so you can pick up sweets for later. I'm a fan!
