I accidentally stumbled onto Annie's Kitchen in Accident, MD this morning on a road trip when cruising on I-68 through Western MD. If you're in this area for whatever reason, maybe headed to/from a WVU Mountaineers game, taking a Clark Griswold Christmas Tree Adventure or just headed out to see the majestic fall scenery in Western, MD....hit up Annie's ON PURPOSE!

There is a no frills ambiance here at Annie's but don't let that turn you away, the plate in front of you will stick in your head for hours even days if you let it. My family and I ordered from the breakfast menu as it was Sunday AM and just the right time to throw down. Note: Annie ensures the entire menu is served all day long which shows how much they want everyone to be happy. Our table server was prompt, attentive, and personable.

Funny how two days earlier I posted a tip/pic of an omelet that I named the Kitchen Sink omelet from a local DMV diner and at first glance of Annie's menu the real deal "Kitchen Sink" Omelet was staring me in the face; I had to order it! Their Kitchen Sink Omelet is geared towards the true meat lover and boasts of Ham, Bacon, Sausage, Sweet Peppers, Onions, Tomatoes, Mushrooms, American Cheese and home fries folded in a paper thin 3 egg pocket! Wait, we're not done.....This omelet is topped with sausage gravy (which I ordered on the side) and two slices of heavenly homemade bread that is as thick as Texas Toast. The price is $14.95 which may seem hefty for an omelet but trust me...it's worth it. All ingredients were freshly cooked and I didn't get even a hint of 'over greasy' at all which is amazing when you think about what was put into it. The omelet is pictured here: http://www.yelp.com/biz_…

As for the family members, several other plates were ordered to include a simple egg breakfast, a Steak & Cheese Omelet, and the Works breakfast which was two eggs, choice of meat and home fries. All plates were hot, fresh and tasty (see pics to confirm).

I also want to point out I ordered pancakes based on a Yelp tip that I found while walking through the door. I'm not a pancake man (I get them about twice a year) but if a Yelper says get them I will at least take a bite. The pancakes here are made from scratch, fluffy, buttery and THICK! I ordered the Short Stack of two pancakes and my taste buds said "I love you" to me after the first bite. I would recommend the buckwheat pancakes if you're going to have a pancake meal.

Annie's hash browns or home fries are perfect! They are thinly sliced potatoes with light brown edges but cooked completely through....uh YUMMMM is the only word that comes to mind!

Annie's reminds me of the perfect diner/restaurant for 'down-home' cooking. Besides the the menu Annie's offers baked goodies inside the entrance to include fresh pumpkin rolls, cookies, breads, muffins, etc. I will stop here the next few trips across Western, MD for sure and confirm that the foodie in me is fed well. So, for a roadside diner - 5 STARS, well done Ms. Lisa!

Finally, they offer wifi that works! It's fast and easy to connect. I point this out only because I wouldn't expect wifi at a small town local diner but their customer service shows through.

This place is great and worth the short drive from DCL. The buttermilk pancakes are the best I've ever had. Breakfast anytime. Young and attentive and friendly wait staff; never a wait. Good country cookin with great service and attitude. Bakery shop inside too, so you can pick up sweets for later. I'm a fan!

My wife purchased a double-take deal at Annie's for our trip to Deep Creek, and as we came down 219, we were all famished...a day of traveling with no real breakfasts or lunches to speak of. So, before settling into our rental, we stopped for a 4:30 dinner.

Annie's is a throwback, an old-fashioned, homestyle restaurant. The wall sports lots of local lore, including local campaign posters of elected officials from the 60's and 70's. Hilarious. We were definatly identifiable as outsiders...we weren't sporting jeans on a 90 degree day, and we lacked camo. Also, for a restaurant with 6 other tables occupied, it was quiet...spooky quiet. Nobody was talking, except the occasional waitress. Quite perplexing. My three boys did liven things up, but we kept them fairly subdued, out of respect of the accepted, intrusive silence. People don't come here to yuk it up, apparently.

Food was good. They serve breakfast all day, and after reading the yelp reviews, breakfast seemed the way to go, so the boarder's omelet it was..veggies and ham. Good, with thickly-cut toast and home fries. Wife had a turkey platter- "eh", in her opinion- and kids ate the kids food, including spaghetti/meatballs, fried shrimp (only 4), chicken tenders and smiley fries...kids thought they were a little small, but then again, the kids were famished.

    Total bill was $47.

Baked goods on the way out looked good, and lured us into a cherry pie ($8), which has treated us very well.

This place has a real homey feel; very authentic. It is what it is, with no pretense. I can see why it's been a hit to travelers...

    Annie's Kitchen is no Accident!

What a great breakfast place! The wait was well worth it...and I dont say that alot. Another couple recommended this place to us, we were staying at the Wisp, and so we drove here just to see what the fuss was about.

The bread is home-made and delicious with a side of their signature jam. The portions are huge so I recommend you not order anything additional like I did. The waitress was friendly and extremely accommodating. This is a must eat restaurant.

Also, they serve other than breakfast there and I hear that is just a great. They offer specials, Tues all you can eat wings, Fri all you can eat fish but that's all I can remember.

We stop for breakfast here on a saturday morning around noon and found you can have breakfast anytime. Everything is home made, thick like you would make at home. With all the food you received expect a slightly higher bill but it was well worth it for the flavor and quality of the food.

Thank you again, Yelp, for helping me find good food on the road. :)

Driving through to McHenry for work, this was an excellent stop for some lunch. The menu is about what you'd expect - salad bar, burgers, subs, sandwhiches, fried whatevers, but all very tasty. I went for a salad and the bacon cheeseburger, and even though they cook their patties well (I prefer a medium) it was still very flavorful and came with some excellent, thick cut bacon.

I decided to grab a couple of raspberry cookies from the bakery case by the counter - delicious and an absolute steal at 2 for a dollar!

If I have one very minor complaint, it's the fact that all drinks are $2...even if you just get a glass of water. On the other hand, the rest of the meal was very reasonably priced, so it all balances out.

Stop here on the way in to Wisp, as it's the last good meal you'll have during your stay. Stop here on your way out of Wisp, since you'll need to eat real and good food to repair the damage caused by the McHenry restaurants / Wisp resort restaurants.

Annie's is absolutely charming, from the old timey feel, to the wait staff, who are absolutely lovely. Our family stopped here on our way home after a weekend of skiing, which, while fun, was totally lacking in even somewhat decent eating.

My little kids ate hot dogs, which, really? A hot dog? These were incredible: plump, juicy, nice snap when you bite into them, and at $2.75 served with chips was unbeatable. My oldest child got a BLT that was unreal: freshly made, thick, chewy bread toasted perfectly, with excellent hickory smoked bacon, sliced thick....a perfect BLT as far as his discerning BLT palate was concerned. My husband had the country burger with the most amazing onion rings we've ever had. I had the Kitchen Sink burger, since that's just my flavah: it was loaded up with sweet, roasted peppers, jalapeno, lettuce, tomato, mayo, red onion, cheese, ketchup and mustard and just the way I like it. And the beef? Well...it tasted like, ummm...BEEF. Guess I'm used to the preservative taste and ammonia-washed flavor of burgers in the big city. My french fries were hand cut and freshly made. Absolutely perfect.

Desserts!!! They make pies right in their kitchen, and one of my kids and I had cherry pie. One bite and all I could say was, "Wow. I don't taste chemicals!" One of my kids had an old fashioned sundae in a tall cup with caramel, whipped cream, and a cherry. He LOVED it! One of my other kids had 3 warm chocolate chip cookies that were the perfect blend of chewy and crisp, with a tall glass of milk. My husband got an amazing apple cobbler with ice cream, and my oldest child had the chocolate cream pie, but I don't think he loved it.

All in all a wonderful meal!!! We will be back to Annie's again and again.

Stopped here on the way home from Wisp. It was just as I expected...good ole home cookin'! Everything on the menu sounded decent, but I lost focus when our waitress said the word, buffet. It came with a salad bar and one dessert all for the price of $14. 5 stars for great food, service and price! Thanks Sonya!

Well worth the detour. Best cheeseburger on my 691 mile trip to Grandma's house. Save room for dessert. My chocolate pie was only so-so, had a funny after taste. Didn't get to taste my companion's rhubarb pie before it disappeared. Molasses cookies were recommended by the waitress, and they are so good, I bought a six pack to go. No wait on a weekday afternoon, and clearly everyone else was local.

Breakfast was great! Chipped corn beef, grits, pancakes, try it all! Very good and authentic.

Only down side was the long wait. About 30 minutes on a Sunday morning. Service was good but a bit spotty. Also got an order wrong. Waitresses were friendly though.

Next time you come down to deep creek for a weekend, make sure to stop by Annie's for some great breakfast.

Rolled to Annie's for pre-skiing breakfast on Monday - incredible! 3 large buckwheat pancakes (with blueberries in the batter and on top) & 2 eggs over medium - what a treat! In addition to their homemade breakfast, they offer some incredible looking homemade pies and desserts. We went back in the late afternoon for a cherry crisp (outstanding!) and a slice of cookies & cream pie (fantastic!) - definitely check this place out! Great place to dine when visiting Deep Creek Lake/Wisp ski resort - enjoy!
