Came for dinner about an hour before close on a Monday night. I ordered the combo plate with a chicken enchilada, a chile relleno and a carne asada taco. Well, you can't really go wrong with a fried taco, and this one was delicious. Crunchy and savory with just the right amount of meat, cheese and lettuce.
The chile relleno was soft and bland, and a bit soupy. I always compare every chile relleno I order to the one I had in Taos about 6 years ago. It was made to order, the chile was practically whole with a nice amount of cheese inside, but the best part was it was fried perfectly. It maintained its shape, was very lightly breaded, crispy when cut through and the pepper itself tasted perfectly roasted, not overcooked mush. Needless to say this creates a great pinnacle to which not many rellenos have reached (as of yet!) This was no exception.
The chicken enchilada was average as well. Chips and salsa served before the meal were spicy because we asked for their habanero salsa. I ended up dumping this salsa on the rest of the bland food, and it did make it nicer.
Oh, and my husband refused to let me use the restroom after he saw it. This guy is no shrinking violet either; I mean he's seen some rough stuff in his time owning and running a pub in Old Town Pasadena. He would NOT let me go in there - it was that bad. So luckily the other side of the restaurant had another unisex restroom that was fine. Perhaps they just didn't catch it in time? He said it looked like a bunch of hobos did their business in there, then left without a second thought. Sorry for the imagery.

You can't go wrong with anything on this menu. They are passionate about there food and the flavor shows it. I have never been disapointed and I have been here at least 20 times now.
Oh ya!! Everything on the menu is excellent. Staff is incredible. Food is absolutely the best homemade Mexican in Mojave, and maybe even the entire Antelope Valley! You get chips and salsa with every dine in order. There salsa is always delicious. Asada is tender and well marinated. El Pastor is my favorite, it's tender pork marinated in incredible spices similar to Chorizo. Local Vestas wind turbine techs make this there go to place on the regular. We always talk about Anthony's food throughout the day! $1 tacos Tuesday and Friday allow you to feast on the cheap! ..but be sure to leave something in the tip jar, they deserve it.
THEY HAVE HORCHATA!
We ordered carnitas tacos, the chicken plate and a plain carne asada taco for the kid.
The carnitas meat was pretty good. The chicken was okay. The house salsa was pretty good. Kid didn't care for the spiciness of the carne asada. And a couple of our tortillas were a little hard--but we showed up about 10 minutes before closing and were the only people there.
I was impressed with the variety of hot sauces they had available if the salsa wasn't enough for you. They even had Rutan's Rocket Fuel -- it was plenty hot.
