I live in Aromas. I love living in Aromas. I really like living in Aromas  since the Aromas Grill opened. I like that it is owned and operated by someone I know; a local. I like the small town relaxed atmosphere. The building remodel is terrific with both inside and outside casual dining areas. I like the fact that when I go there I most likely will see one or more of my neighbors which accentuates the small town, casual and friendly atmosphere. There is no other place in Aromas that brings this congeniality and offers just a great place to have a cup of coffee or a wonderful dinner. I read some of the other reviews and critiques. For those of you who prefer fast food and fast service and little or no dining experience, don't come visit Aromas and then compare it to Carmel or Pebble Beach. The menu is limited. The town is limited. But we like it and will continue to support a local business as it grows, matures, serves the locals and fills a definite need. If you wish to enjoy an evening out with nice food, nice wait staff, good menu and prices and a wonderfully friendly atmosphere, come on out!
Review Source:The food is great, I go there just for that, and I like the indoor decor. The wait staff is pretty weak every time I go, some customer service training would be good for the restaurant and the staff, they could make better tips.
Now, about the stuffed beaver  - what on EARTH are they thinking with that nasty, dusty dead animal on the counter, right where people are eating??? Just plain bizarre. Please, please loose it, it is really unappetizing. Keep up the good food though~
We've been three times  and had great food every time! The first time we had beer and fish tacos- really good! Second visit I decided on steak and it was good! My husband did the salmon and liked it too. Glad to be able to go out to a casual, fun restaurant and have a good steak. This last time I had the ribs (the special that night) and they were fall off the bone delicious. They even substituted a wedge salad for potatoes because I wanted to save my carbs for Blue Moons- with a slice of orange in every glass!
Fun place with great food and a friendly staff who takes the time to talk and make you feel welcome. We will keep going back, in fact I'm happy to consider myself a regular!
First off, as with any local restaurant you really really want it to be good.. it would save both time and money looking and driving to other cities. However, as with any restaurant you weigh many things in determining whether or not to continue going to a sub par place just out of convenience. Aromas is 10-20 minutes to higher end dining. So you must weigh : Food & Beverage Choices, Time, Price, Food Quality and Quality of Service.
We have been here twice since it reopened. Here are a couple things. Both times the food was disappointing. The service was horrible. The waitress obviously never waited on tables before and though she was nice.. we waited 10 minutes for menus, which she didnt bring, 10 minutes from our drink order...she constantly forgot things and we ended up getting served a couple times by another waitress that was waiting the table next to us.
As a businessman, I tried to give some helpful advice to the owner.. which dismissed my statement about the calamari being really bad.. ( we eat calamari everywhere and like it most places... ) here was so bad we only ate a piece or two .
They only have beer and wine which is a drawback. Their prices are far too high for the region and sadly, once the new factor is over... if some serious changes in direction... this place will die quickly..
Decent wine list for a small town restaurant. An absolute must try is the
Fried Artichoke appetizer $7.00
Nice family owned restaurant. The Veggie Heaven Pizza was delicious, topped with grilled vegetables. Loved the quesadilla with chicken.
The cleanest restrooms I have ever seen! This place really takes pride in the job they do. Bravo!
Reasonable prices, friendly staff. Check 'em out.
When I was in Aromas visiting some friends we went to have dinner at Aromas Grill on Carpenteria in Aromas Ca. my friend had heard the food was good. the setting is casual with outdoor and indoor dining. there is a bar and the atmosphere is pleasant and busy. the couple who own the place are very friendly and work very hard to make their business successful. The food is delicious! the prices are very good and children are welcome. there is a child menu also. I had the house special Prime rib and Lobster. and my friend had the tri platter with Steak, chicken and shrimp. I also had an excellent glass of red wine. I am definitely coming back the next time I am in Aromas. Everything I had was cooked to perfection and the portions are generous!
Review Source:I live in Aromas and have heard about the Aromas Grill but was hesitant to try it due to the previous failed restaurants that had been there...
Just had dinner there with my family for my daughter's graduation. Â Food was outstanding! Â The salmon was moist and perfectly cooked. Â Everything was very tasty and the service was pretty good, considering there appeared to be just one waitress for the entire restaurant. Â
I have nothing negative to say and will definitely be back. Â The prices were very reasonable for the quality and portions.
I've been to Aromas Grill for dinner, a relaxing beer and weekend breakfast. The only complaint that I have read that is valid is the wait. The restaurant is busy, especially on Friday nights.
The staff has always been very nice, not perfect but they try hard. The food is good and unlike the restaurants predecessors it's not unaffordable.
Aromas Grill is perfect for this small town. I highly recommend it. Â Especially for breakfast.
We have been to this restaurant 4 or 5 times at various hours, including Sunday breakfast for 10. We have met friends here and have brought out of town guests as well. The only reason I give it 4 stars rather than 5 is the noise level does occasionally make it difficult to converse. . The various entrees have been very good and the prices exceptionally reasonable.  We love having this restaurant  nearby and it's a very welcome addition to our little town!
Review Source:My wife and I were "touristing" through the  area and decided to check out Aromas after 20 years since our last visit. We saw the Aromas Grill and decided to stop and have lunch.  What a pleasure, friendly staff, attentive owner (Sal) and great service. A super chef who we should have gone to meet.  I ordered a Philly Steak Sandwich which was outstanding.  Our waitress, Amanda, made us feel like we were locals. The other waitress (didn't get her name)  was equally friendly.  My wife had the crab cake salad and couldn't have been more impressed.  We highly recommend the Aromas Grill and look forward to trying it for breakfast
Review Source:A FANTASTIC restaurant to say the least. Everything from the atmosphere, to the delicious food, and to the immaculately cleaned dishes! I ordered the the cheese burger and it was honestly the best burger I have ever had in my life. I have nothing but good things to say about this fine establishment! The waiters are very kind and attentive too!
Review Source:What a nice surprise to find a little more upscale place close to home! Â The produce is fresh, and the fare is tasty. Â I don't agree with the others about the unprofessional staff. Â Not my experience at all. Â And the prices are quite reasonable for what you get. Â The facility is clean and inviting. Â I've been there three times now and have only been treated with friendly courtesy and respect. Â Will definitely be going back and telling my friends & neighbors to go as well.
Review Source:I have been to the Grill twice now and I like it. Â For people who live in Aromas it is so nice to have a place right in town to go to that serves quality food. Â I had the Aromas Grill Trio with steak, chicken and prawns. Â They were all very tasty. Â Prior to the meal we shared a grilled vegetables salad which we especially liked. Â It is very clean and nicely decorated. Â I thought the wait staff was pleasant and attentive. Â But I also know not to visit at peak times to get the best service in any restaurant.
Review Source:Great food, but the staff lacks organization. Make a reservation and get drinks ASAP. Â Sarah at the bar Rocks. Â Fun and friendly. Â If you're in a hurry, Fri-Sat night should be avoided. Â If you're looking for good food, reasonable prices, and a nice community feeling; Aromas Grill will serve it up.
Review Source:Aromas Grill is five min. from our house, Â I have been waiting to try his place since it opened and finally I did last night with my family. Â It did not live up to my expectations at all..The inside is very clean and simple, bar is elegant and the whole place has a friendly community and feeling. Â The wait time was to much, I felt that's all we did. Manners to the staff need to be taught and the wait time for our food wouldn't have been an issue if our waitress wasn't so rude and rest of the staff (the minimal staff they have) were nice. Â That was the biggest issue for me personally. Food was ok, portions were large.
Review Source:I've been here twice for lunch and was happy both times. Â Really happy to have a place to grab a meal at a fair price when in Aromas. Â The outdoor area is nice on a sunny day with a view of the park but traffic on Carpenteria kinda spoils the mood. Â Inside is casual with a bar area in the rear. Â Prices are reasonable and portions generous and tasty. Â The food tastes very fresh. Â I plan to return.
Review Source:We went there last weekend on a Saturday night and our party of three was promptly seated. We ordered drinks and received them within minutes of sitting down and put in our food orders shortly after. They must have been having an off night when the other reviews were written because from the time we walked in to the time we left was about an hour. We ordered the meat lovers pizza which had a delicious crust and lots of yummy toppings, the wedge salad which was easily big enough for two people to share and the shrimp pesto pasta special. All of our food was hot when it arrived and we were checked on frequently. I have no complaints about our new gem in Aromas! Happy to see it doing well and glad to have a place to go for a beer and to catch the game on a Friday night!
Review Source:We made reservations for 7pm on a Friday night so we would get seated right away. That certainly didn't happen. We arrived before three other parties and they all were seated before us. "Hellooo? Are we invisible?"
Our "reservation" got us a cramped two person table for three people. Ok whatever. We sat down and waited, waited, and waited some more. It took 22 minutes to get our drink order in. On top of that, the lady who took our drink order wasn't even a waitress. She was just winging it because they were busy. They definitely need more help in the customer service area. What's funny is that we never ever talked to one of the actual servers, they just walked right past us over and over. The owner did come over and ask us if we put in our drink order, which was nice. But on the other hand, it seems a bit unorganized that no one knows who needs service.
Our drinks eventually came and we got our nacho appetizer. That was 45 minutes. It was great, but needed more chips and they needed to be thicker. Kinda on the soggy side.
Entrees finally came after over an hour. Fish tacos, calamari and chips, and the angus burger. All were decent. The food is good, but the service was terrible.
I could easily go to any other restaurant and get the same quality and great service all in one. Decent prices, but I had to walk up for someone to actually ring us up.
I always like to support local business, but they need to get it together. First impressions really do say a lot. They need to hire more experienced servers, have an organized food system, and keep reservations. I might go back, but they definitely need more help if they want to succeed.
Wow... SO nice to have this place open again! Great food, great prices, great people - what more could you want? Try the calamari - it's amazing! The blackened fish dinner is also really good! Â They have set out tables on the patio, which today (70+) was quite nice. The coffee is from Vertigo in SJB. We will be back, and we'll refer people to the extent that we can. The phone number is 726-9999, NOT the number listed on Yelp!
Review Source:This was my second visit to Aromas Grill. The first time I visited was on a soft opening night so service was a bit slow but that was a given. This time around I ordered the melted nachos platter which came with black beans, homemade guac, salsa, and sour cream. It was the perfect combination  of crunchy texture and flavor. The bf ordered the margherita pizza. It was a good size for 2 people. They also had a Stella, Modelo, Shock top on tap. Can't have pizza without beer right?! We finished our meal with a yummy fruit and vanilla cream pavlova. Enjoyed a great meal in a small town. Will have to come back to try the angus burger!
It states they close at 9 but that's the time the kitchen close...bar is still open. If you are strolling through town or want a drink, stop by.
Have gone to this place twice now and my brother has come here three times. Like other reviewers, we waited for. ever. for our drinks, appetizers and eventually our food. The reviewer who said it took 45 for appetizers and 1hr+ for food was dead on. The first time I went the restaurant was newly opened and busy so I gave them some time; this time it was barely half full when we entered and it still took too long. This is the third time my brother has ordered the same thing - a "dry" hamburger, aka no mayo or sauces - and as much as he elaborated, it was also the THIRD time they got his order wrong. I also found the wait staff to be very friendly but incredibly slow. They forgot to bring my brother a refill and we just let it go, not wanting to wait anymore. The food itself? Great. Each time it has been really good! It's pricey but I understand a new place needing to cover overhead costs. However after a few times between the two of us, we've decided not to come back for awhile. Going out to dinner to a place less than 5 minutes from our house should not take 90+ minutes, unless we want it to.
Review Source:Lunch was wonderful! Â Highly recommended. Â The salmon sandwich was delicious, with the salmon cooked just right. Â The roasted veggie pizza had a crisp, thin crust, and the toppings were scrumptious. Â Yum. Â The two salads were great, too. Â The waitress was friendly and conscientious. Â The owner graciously accommodated a special request. Â And the pricing is reasonable. Â What more could you ask for?
