What a wonderful place! Â A mixture of an art gallery, a fondue place, and a delicious wine bar all put together with the laid back, Portlandia atmosphere of Telluride. Â The staff here really knows their wines; I was surprised to engage them in conversation about the different valleys in Chile and the resurgence of Carmenere varietals. Â Wow... Â
Entering the establishment, the wine bar is at the end of the store in the rear, with tables at the front and as well, the store has taken over and refurbished the storefront next door, so there's plenty of expansion space. Â When I came over here, in the midst of the Telluride LGBT Week, the restaurant featured a sumptuous fondue with the freshest cheeses and yummy veggies, as well as a chocolate fondue that would resupply all the calories burned on the back bowls and double-black diamonds. Â
The artwork on the walls is unique, mostly the work of local artists perhaps affected by the rarified 10,000 foot altitude of the place, but it was definitely worthwhile to admire. Â
The Arroyo Wine Bar is four short blocks from the mass transit gondola so it makes it quite convenient for an apres ski or a dinner venture, if your like fondue...
Awesome.
