Would definitely go here again. It's right on the way to Hanging Rock although easy to miss - it's not well marked; watch for a short brick building on the left when you're getting close to the west end of town.

It's a nice place to stop for a sandwich on the way to hiking.  And, in theory, $6 is a great price for a small sandwich, 2 sides and dessert.  The bread was pretty clearly just plain ol' store bought bread, and the baked goods looked delicious but weren't particularly fresh.  The fruit was super fresh though.  I think for $6 I'd rather have a slightly higher quality sandwich, 1 side and a fresher cookie instead of getting 2 sides, but if I want to be that picky then I can make my own gosh darn lunch. :)

So...average food but very convenient to Hanging Rock.  Be careful about the business hours though - they have very limited hours on Saturday and closed on Sunday.  Their website states 8-2 on Saturday on one page and 10-2 on another page. 10-2 is correct.

We nearly missed this little gem as we passed through Danbury after a hike in Hanging Rock Park. The lunch menu is full of homey and well-rounded lunch options at very reasonable prices.

The $5.99 boxed sandwiches come with pasta salad, (very good) potato salad or chips, seasonal fruit and your choice of their wonderful baked goods from key lime bars to cheesecake brownies to cookies. The salad, french bread pizza and sub options also sounded good but we opted for the veggie and turkey/havarati boxed sandwiches.

Nutritious and well proportioned, the meal was like something you might make for yourself at home. The service was quick, gracious and friendly. Overall a very positive experience and a cool local spot we'd highly recommend.

Whether you need a quick sandwich for lunch or you need to pick up some finger desserts for your party, Artisan's Way has got you covered.  This place is so good.  You can get a lunch consisting of a delicious and generous sized croissant ham and cheese sandwich, homemade potato salad, fresh fruit, and a "million dollar" bar for $6.  For someone in Raleigh like me, that is a VERY good price for a lunch like that.  I went here two days in a row because the first time wasn't enough.  So if you're driving through Danbury to go tubing down the Dan River or visiting Hanging Rock State Park, make a stop at Artist's Way and get yourself an awesome meal.  And don't forget dessert!
