I've been to Arvad's twice, both for after-graduation celebration dinners. Both times the food and service were excellent and the atmosphere was great.

The most recent time I went, I had a reservation with seven others. We were seated immediately and our waitress was so friendly and had a great personality about here. The food was great as well. I got the teriyaki chicken with mashed potatoes, so delicious! Everyone was quite happy with their meals and their beverages. I split their pink lemonade cheesecake with my brother too, it was so creamy, but lacking a bit in the pink lemonade flavor.

There was also these three girls who were promoting Absolut Vodka and some of their flavors, to which we had to guess trivia questions correctly to receive either a free shot or t-shirt. I'm not sure if they're always at Arvad's, but it was still a great part of the night.

Overall, I'd certainly recommend this place to anyone wanting good food, service and atmosphere.

My husband and I went to Arvad's for dinner the other night, then headed back 2 days later for drinks and dessert because the atmosphere was so welcoming.  They had a special lobster mac & cheese that was divine, good beer selection, and yummy desserts.  They even put a candle in my delicious Tollhouse Pie for my birthday, very sweet!

I met the owner (who turned out to be a neighbor) and she was so friendly  - you can tell she loves her place and her customers. We'll be regulars!

The food is mediocre at best. I got served my appetizer WITH my entree. The waitress couldn't remember simple requests like, Burger WITH onions. I would suggest to only go to this place for a couple drinks at the bar and not much else.

The place was kind of meh.  I went there with a couple of friends and wasn't amazed with the meal.  It wasn't a bad experience and the atmosphere was okay.  They had pictures of the town of Waterbury on the walls and if your the kind of person who likes to look at old photos it was neat.

The menu was simple and didn't leave much in the way of options.  All in all our first choice was Maxi's just down the road but they were really busy and so we chose Arvad's instead.

We were looking for a cute place to stop for lunch before heading to the Ben & Jerry's factory and stumbled upon this place. We sat outside on their beautiful patio; very family friendly with a nice, homey, country feel. To my surprise, they had quite an extensive menu. I ordered the Avocado BLT w/ an Arnold Palmer drink. Both were fabulous! My friend's ordered the Salmon Burger on top of the spinach salad and Reuben & both said they were delicious. I highly recommend it! (for Lunch at least)

We were seated right away (early dinner on a weeknight) and the place was not busy. The beer menu could have featured more local brews, but was extensive. We were happy with the calamari (a bit small for the price). I got the chicken & broccoli alfredo, the rest of the family went for burgers. All the meals were great, including the fries, sweet potato fries, and onion rings. The burgers were all cooked as ordered. Service was polite and prompt. We'll come back.

We did eat inside, because as we walked up, I swear I saw someone smoking on the patio, next to the only empty table. Is this even legal anymore? I'd love to sit outside next time.

Went for lunch with my sister and her two kids. They are picky eaters and no one went away hungry or dissatisfied. I loved the pulled pork sandwich! Service was friendly and attentive!

Yup, 3 stars sums it up.  Some good, some bad.
The sweet potato fries were awesome, the bun on my burger was freezer burned and old.
My girlfriends fish was overcooked but "ok."
    Beans were tasty.
Service was mixed; not bad, just not great.
    Atmosphere is good.
Its not bad, it's just not outstanding in the field.

The good thing is I know exactly what to expect when I go there, ok food, slightly overpriced, but good service, great beer list, and friendly environment.

Friendly service & good food.  There is a reason why Arvad's is usually busy.

Local place that serves Sysco quality food at exorbitant prices.  I also had an experience where they were unkind to a disabled friend of mine 8 years or so ago.  Sandwiched between to much better places, so, uhh, yeah, do that...

I think Arvad's has really improved over the years.  We met with a group of 4 and we all enjoyed what we ordered. I loved the jalapeno mac and cheese.  The service was good and the desserts and drinks were great as well.  We loved sitting outside on a cold night but with all the outdoor heating lamps overhead it felt wonderful and no one was cold.  I'd go back just to sit at that patio.  The prices are perhaps a few dollars per plate more than you'd really like to spend but all in all a good meal and a great patio. I think my only complaint was that their beer selection was not very good compared with the pubs that are next door and across the street and so it would be nice if they made sure not to run out and carried a more extensive beer selection of LOCAL beers (their import list was unnecessarily long).

I found myself in Waterbury on a road trip and found there weren't a lot of options for food in the area (especially since we'd already been on the road for hours), but this was a real gem!

I had a pulled pork sandwich with onion rings, and to be honest, I'd never expected Waterbury, VT to have some of the best pulled pork I've ever had, but I dream about it.  I sampled some of my family's food and I could have eaten everything (especially the pulled pork quesadilla!).

We got seated right away and had very helpful service.

I'm a local and eat dinner here about 6 to 8 times a year. It's always been a great "go-to" choice when you want good food and a no hassle experience (almost always no wait). Very good staff  (some have been here for many years), good quality food and medium priced. Recommendation: excellent steaks and hamburgers. A hundred kinds of beer from all over the world. Small selection of wine.

we recently had dinner at Arvad's with our 3 small kids based on the recommendation from our innkeeper.  what a waste of money.  first off, our server Kristen (Krystal?) seemed annoyed that we wanted to know what was on tap and rattled off the beers so quickly we couldn't really understand her.  Then she neglected to tell us about the specials which we later heard her telling the table next to us; they sounded great - too bad we didn't know about them as what we ordered was awful.

my husband had a chicken sandwich that was OK, nothing special, but the coleslaw that came with it was inedible.  had the waitress come to ask us how our meal was, we would've told her that the coleslaw tasted rancid (I actually had to spit it out into a napkin, and i'm really not that picky).  I ordered a grilled chicken salad thinking i'd better keep it simple given the laminated menus and for over $10, I got about 50 cents worth of under dressed lettuce, unripe tomato slices and chicken that was hard and dried out, as if it had been cooked in the morning.

the kids meals were OK; the highlight was the plastic cups with lids.  I would NEVER go there again, I was so disappointed that for $60 we had such a crummy meal and kind of grouchy service.

I've been to Arvad's a dozen times or so. The service has always been adequate. The menu is pretty standard pub fare, with something for everyone. The fish and chips is spectacular, but one word of caution. The lunch portion is a joke. The waitress warned me that it was "small", but I didn't think she meant child-sized.

Stopped by this place on the way back from a ski trip, so I guess anything tastes good after a cold, exhausting day on the slopes.  Anyways, we were hungry and needed some nice beers and we were not let down.

I had a bison burger for the first time and it tastes the way I expected: a regular burger with less fat; the coleslaw that came with it was pretty good too.  The gf got steak and shrimp and, honestly, the steak exceeded my expectations: very juicy with lots of garlic (which I love).

They have a good beer selection from all over the globe.  I had a local stout and the girl had some French beer which she enjoyed.  The service was decent and the prices were a bit steep, but overall a good experience.

This place has a lovely deck with outside seating. The menu was standard pub food. I got a standard portabello mushroom sandwich, but my boyfriend got the best steak I have ever had. Unfortunately it was the smallest steak either one of us have ever had. I liked the obvious use of local ingredients on the menu. Gave it a nice Vermont feel on our vacation. Not bad not great. Id give it a solid rating of Decent.

My husband and I were originally going to go to Cider House BBQ, which is down the road but were creeped out by the fact that it was 12:30 on a holiday weekend and there were two cars in the parking lot and it looked deserted. So, we drove down the road and ended up at Arvad's instead.

For a bar/grill, the service and atmosphere were both fine. My husband got a burger with onion rings and I got a veggie burger with sweet potato fries. Everything seemed fresh and I liked the sandwich rolls a lot. I also had a small salad. The value was good and we ate for less than 30 dollars with a beer and soda thrown in as well.

The desserts all sounded good, but its hard to compete when Ben and Jerry's is so close.

We had very little expectation for this restaurant and yet we were still disappointed.  We ate here on a Sunday afternoon, and ate outside (the best part of the experience).  We both ordered the fish and chips.  In summary, we couldn't figure out what was wrong with it:  Was it refried/reheated before it was served?  Was the fish just old?  Was it long frozen and thawed?  Bottom line, it was bad.  The service was fair at best.

I would just be careful what you order.

Not bad for a quick bite to eat before heading to Ben & Jerry's for dessert.  My BBQ chicken sandwich was good, but my soup was only eh...
I did really love how friendly the staff were but just wasn't overly excited about your run-of the-mill bar food lunch spot.

Arvad's is your typical American bar and grill.  They carry all the standards, like burgers, sandwiches, tasty appetizers, salads and soups but try to mix things up with daily specials.

On a recent trip I had a greek salad, my wife had a burger and the kids split the pasta.  Everyone enjoyed their meal.  The food was fresh and tasty.  The waitress went the extra mile to bring a bowl of slice cucumbers when the kids decided they wanted to eat all of mine.

You can count on Arvad's for a good, quality meal at a reasonable price.  You won't be blown away by the food, but if you're headed home after a long day of skiing or need a quick meal with the family, you can count on Arvad's to deliver.

If possible, sit out side or near the bar.  The lower level can feel a bit dark.
