If I'd have written this 3 weeks ago, this would've been 5 stars but we made a return visit.  My friend had been raving about pepperoni balls and I found that this place was supposed to be the best in Ohio.  So we drove there one weekend and picked up a sampler of goodies.  Cinnamon rolls, a cookie, pepperoni balls and a loaf of cheese cobblestone bread.  The cinnamon rolls are hands down the best we've ever had.  Flakey, cinnamony, almost croissant like and huge.  The peanut butter cookie was a bit of a disappointment.  Not as fresh as the sample that lured us to buy it.  The pepperoni balls came with pizza sauce to dip it in.  Honestly, the pepperoni was nasty so I picked it out but the texture of the dough mixed with that great sauce took me right back to childhood, like something I may have had at a fair.  The bread was good, not great.  My hubby liked to make mini grilled cheese sandwiches with them.  When you spend $15, they give you a free loaf of white bread.  Pretty cool.

Fast forward to Saturday and dealt with someone who we think was new.  We went back and thankfully the cinnamon rolls are still awesome.  He got a "breakfast ball" and I got a pepperoni ball.  We ate our rolls while we waited for her to fry my ball.  (Ouch!)  She brought out his breakfast ball which was nothing more than a dough ball cut in half as a bun and filled with bacon, egg and cheese.  He said it was mediocre at best and was expecting a filled ball like the pepperoni ball.  She brought mine out without the sauce.  I asked where the sauce was and she said that was extra.  We both looked at each other because we didn't have to pay for it last time.  I said I wasn't going to eat it without it so yeah, I'd pay extra.  So up he went to pay.  Now we're talking about a tiny little container of sauce with less than 1/4 cup of pizza sauce in it.  He comes back and gives it to me, shaking his head.  "What?"  "It was $1.20"  I about choked.  The pepperoni ball itself is only $1.00!!!!  I'm paying MORE for a squirt sauce than I paid for a big ol' yak meat filled bun!?!?!?  That left a bad taste in my mouth...or was it when I forgot how bad the pepperoni was and bit into a hunk of it and ejected it into my napkin?  Either way, the ball was way more greasy than last time and oozing oil, I had to pay $1.20 for 1.5 oz of sauce that was free last time and for the price I could've bought a jar of Pizza Zip at Kroger for the same price for 12 oz!  If and ONLY if it's on our way to somewhere will we stop back in for the cinnamon rolls.  I'm not down with surprises that aren't listed on the menu.
