Back Door Tavern

Great beer selection. My husband is determined to finish his "beer list" to get his name on the wall. I prefer to hang out on the bar side over the restaurant side. You have to be over 21 to sit on the bar side, so that keeps the kiddos out.

Decent food too. Enjoyed the hot pepper cheese balls. Get the fried fish, it is excellent! Huge portion of delicious, greasy goodness. Yummm!

Still the BEST fish sandwich in Beaver County, PA!

The worst item on their menu is the Iced Tea, it tastes like they used unfiltered water right out of the Beaver River to brew it.

The Backdoor serves typical American bar food (Pittsburgh style, natch) -- huge portions, French fries a-plenty, lots of meat. And the food's really good in this context; their Thursday night-only spicy chicken sandwich is delicious, and I hold their Reuben sets the bar for pub Reubens. They've added some variety in the past year, including wraps, but it's really just a variation on the same theme: big portions, lots of meat, fries.

I think the restaurant really shines, though, with the beer list. It's not extensive -- you won't find overly weird or rare beers here. But the place has a really solid selection of American craft beers, good imports (besides the standard Harp/Bass/Guinness combo), and sure, domestics lite beers. The cherry on top: the beer is really inexpensive, especially when compared to big-city prices. Trappist beers for $6? I'm in. They have a beer list,

I also really dig the German-style beer garden seating in the larger dining room. It adds an communal atmosphere, even if it is sometimes forced.

The wait staff is also generally really nice, and some of them are quite knowledgeable about the beers.
