You may be wondering how the biggest 214 snob in Dallas found herself at Bake's in Terrell. Â I am also a bit mystified but since I went to a house party in Forney it isn't that much of a stretch to think I'd want to go to a dive bar nearby.
I rode along with my friends to Bake's with no idea what to expect except that there would be dancing involved. Â We pulled up to a windowless dive with a set of "rules" posted on the door. Â One of those is that you must be fully clothed at all times. Â WOW what kind of place is this? Â Is this something that happens so much in there that they had to specify you should keep your clothes on? Â
We walked in and had to get carded and hand stamped and pay $5 cover. Â COVER? Â WTF! Â But hey, it was only $5. Â The chick taking the $$ clearly didn't read the front door because she was wearing a slutty Santa outfit and it didn't cover a whole lot of skin. Â
When you get inside you see rows of tables in front of you, bar to the left against the wall, a dance floor to your right, and on the other side of the dance floor it appeared to be pool tables. Â We got some beer and the BF announced that they were some pretty pricey beers for a dive but I am not sure exactly how much they were. Â I was entertained by the music selections the DJ was rocking - there would be nasty gangster rap followed by some two-stepping worthy country music. Â Random alert!!
This place was A-OK though for the people watching.  Let me tell you, Terrell clearly has no shortage of characters.  People ranged in age from 18 to about 75 and were dressed in everything from gangster chic to douchey Ed Hardy to cowboy boots and hats.  I danced with a cowboy that must have been in his 70s who managed to get low low low low low low low and then dance his way on back to a standing position.  He's been working on that move!  Another little dude grinding on his GF so much that one of our friends said "He's gonna rub his little peter off!"  hahahahaha  And a chick coming out of the bathroom that I sweartagod I thought was a dude.  DOH! You could spend an entire evening in this place just for the people watching and I highly recommend you do so.
I imagine that this is one of the most happening places in Terrell so if you find yourself out there get some slightly overpriced beers and watch the show. Â Just keep your clothes on!!
