Swinging Doors

Its a question of "What did you expect?" There isn't really a scene in Terrell , or Kaufman County for that matter. This place seems to think that the locals , or drive-bys are looking for the new "Gilley's". The bands that get chosen to play live here probably bring in a majority of the bar-take. I went in twice , once a log while back because I wanted to know if they got the IRISH PUB smell out of the carpet, and once to see a band. For some reason ( beyond me ) they seem to think its a good idea to take a cover at the door and overcharge for drinks if there is live entertainment. Okay I am game for a try . But the trick is...Beer is Beer, no not foreign either. The shots are tiny and when you are ready to check out they always have an excuse that either there is a minimum or that the machine isnt working just yet, or the gal behind the bar is so busy chatting it up with her pawd'ner that you feel like you are expected to drink more. Now Kenneth mentioned to you that the State Trooper office is less than 2 blocks away and they have a nice dark spot in the Reisinger Vet clinic across the way that they use to sneak up on people pulling out of ( the pot hole ridden ) parking lot. So you may want to sit and wait for someone else to get a ticket to distract Officer Bubba when you are pulling out to go home. . I tried to go here on Kereoke nite ...It didnt seem like they are about being friendly to anyone who they don't know on a 1st name ( be that 1 syllable ) basis. As far as day traffic - I drive by there quite a few times and never see a soul around. Didn't even know they had day hours.

Not a place that I would go to on a "regular" basis, only because there's a Texas State Trooper station right up the road from this place. Swinging Doors has had SEVERAL owners and the current owner had it out with the juke-box vendor; leaving us with nothing more than a late 80's, early 90's style juke-box. NO good selections either. Drop in during the day, and you'll have to watch whatever the daily regular named "Bronco" wants to watch on the t.v. There's not much of a selection as far as bars go in Terrell, but trust me, there's better choices to choose from when it comes to Swinging Doors. It's a good place to stop to have a beer while you discuss what bar you want to go to in Terrell. Also, it its rained recently, watch out for all of the 'pot-holes' in the parking lot!!!
