Went there with a large group of 16, some being Asian. Seating upstairs which is perfect for a group, still being intimate , helping with sound and ease of entrance. Enough room to still stand and socialize as well.

I believe we had just one waitress but maybe a second helped a bit. All I do know was the service was amazingly fast and friendly. Drinks came quickly, had some time then to work thru the menu(s). I say menus because there is a menu in English and one in an Asian dialect. The menus really are different in that the Asian menu tends to be a little more authentic than the English.

Though I received several suggestions from some of the Asian guests I went with the Pad Tai from the regular menu. This is where I was a little disappointed. I was told the Asian menu items can be very hot. OK I like spice but not over the top. Have had authentic Asian Cuisine and it can be VERY spicy. I ask the waitress, she said there were 3 levels of spice and the lowest really wasn't spicy at all with the 3rd showing a hot spicy pepper so I went with two trying to get a feeling from the waitress of how hot that was. Well it was not really spicy at all. Not sure if it was made wrong or that level is just so easy to handle. Wish the waitress could have described better or maybe offered something at that spice level to try.

Otherwise the food came out quickly and hot, first some appetizers which were so so. Then the main course and the portions were great. Could have easily ate less and brought some home. It was nice to see the Kirin beer there as well as local selections.

Would go back, repeatedly, especially with an Asian friend to try the other menu. Easily the best sit-down Asian cuisine in the UP.

Good service and good food, but prices a little higher and portions are a bit smaller than other Asian eateries in the area. The atmosphere is modern and very pleasant compared to most Yooper joints. I would probably want to go more often, but I always end up at Hunan for my authentic Pork Belly and Eggplant on their special Chinese menu.

Being from the 4th largest city in the country, my expectations for Chinese might be a little high. I found the food here edible and pleasant, but not great. Hot and sour soup didn't seem to be freshly prepared (though it was good) and my chicken with garlic sauce, while cooked well, lacked flavor to say the least. I would be willing to give it another try because service was very good and our waitress was very attentive.

OMG! The BEST Asian food I have had in years, excluding dim sum experiences, of course. We have traveled through the Upper Peninsula of Michigan quite a bit lately and to be honest, have been disappointed more often than not when dining at restaurants rated with 4 or 5 stars. So while we were willing to give Bambu a shot (why not we always say), we were not prepared for the best UP dining experience we have had to date as well as one of the best dining experiences in Michigan! With seven in our party, including a fussy 12 year old, we ordered a wide range of dishes. We were smitten with the cold edamame (fresh soy beans, steam cooked), which had a hint of star anise, confirmed by the owner. I could not believe Lotus Wraps with sticky rice and chicken were on the menu! I have never seen them anywhere except on a dim sum menu. And they were heaven, made even better by the special "ginger soy sauce," which the owner kindly whipped up for me himself, talk about customer service! And that dipping sauce was incredible, we passed it around the table, using it on our fabulous "Lettuce Wraps" and "Scallion Pancakes," which we all loved. The sauce had a soy base with ginger, garlic, scallions and some chili, which the owner, "Dave," went lightly with too, but it still had a nice "bite." My mother ordered the Vegetable Curry, which I have always avoided when dining in Chinese restaurants, but after trying my mom's, I am now a fan, it was a little spicy and so delicious! The Won Ton soup was a winner as well. My husband had the best Pad Thai we have ever had, it was fresh, flavorful and slightly spicy, just excellent. The ambiance was modern, with lots of room between tables. Our waitress was very helpful and the owner came by to check on our table several times. And then there was this delightful cocktail my parents ordered, the "Blushing Geisha," with plum wine, Grey Goose vodka, and a maraschino cherry, the adults who tried it loved it! The whole experience was so bittersweet though. We were thrilled to have found  this outstanding restaurant but really, really, REALLY bummed that it is an 8 hour drive from where we live!  If you are in the area and looking for something besides pasties, pizza, subs or pasta, check out Bambu. We can't wait to go back again!

Absolutely great. Incredible atmosphere and fantastic food to go with! Service was great, although my server seemed nervous.... For the amount of food my friends and I ordered I was shocked to see the bill. The price is more the reasonable, satisfying and perfect for all "foodies" or "travelers". Recommended for everyone! I would go again!

I came here based on Yelp ratings and it is definitely a nice place. The place is extremely welcome, the staff is very friendly and fast with our orders. Also the decorating makes the dining experience a nicely sophisticated one. We came in for lunch so both of us got lunch specials, they were even nice enough to accommodate a special order on my part. I wound up getting the Hunan chicken lunch special with hot and sour soup and my mom got the Kung pao 3 also with hot and sour soup. The soup had a nice building heat but was a little thick and didn't have as much flavor as hoped. All of the food was very nicely presented and looked very good. A majority of it was but the chicken was oddly rubbery and somewhat unappealing. Otherwise everything was good, nothing I would particularly go crazy over but good. The vegetables were nice and fresh and the spice was good but the texture of the chicken really put a damper on the meal for me. I really do have to commend the waiting staff though, they were very nice and welcoming, I hope to come back and try some other options on the menu and give it a second go.

First visit here based on Yelp recommendations. The atmosphere is quite nice, more upscale than I expected. The Hot & Sour Soup was very good, as was the Kung Pao 3. The portion was generous. I found it odd that the entree filled the plate & the rice filled a small bowl; no place to really put the two together. Crab cheese was just okay, service was excellent.

If I had to sum up Bambu in two words, they would be...  Flawless Execution.

Folks, this is some of the best American-style Chinese food (with a few Thai, Japanese, and most importantly Sichuan classics) you will find in the country.  Everything is as fresh as it can possibly be and prepared with what can only be called meticulous attention to detail.  Every battered morsel is crisp, every vegetable tender, every sauce seasoned perfectly, heck even the grains of rice are individual and distinct.  The Hot & Sour soup is rich and complex and not at all like the white-pepper-spiked sludge you might be used to elsewhere.  The mustard hits you like a roundhouse kick to the face (this is a GOOD thing, mind), and I dare you to find a dried red chili seared better than the one adorning my General Tso's (yes, eat that thing, it's good for you).  The Crab Rangoon are ethereal, and the house sweet and sour sauce is astonishingly bright and delicate (is it the Maraschino cherries?  I think it's the cherries).

The presentation is... well, the only word I can think of is reverential.  From the stark white plates to the soft spotlights over the table, it's all about the food.  And with food this good, it works.  That said, takeout is also a fine option; the containers are packed with such care that any loss is quality (like things going soggy on you) is absolutely minimal.  My Dan-Dan Noodles were amazing even after two days in the fridge- the noodles were thick and un-sticky, the sauce/topping was coherent, and the cucumber and sprouts were still fresh, crispy and intact.  There's no reason they should have remained that good; I'm convinced there was some kind of sorcery involved.

I really can't heap enough praise on this restaurant.  If I had to complain about anything, it'd be that dining here costs me a nine hour drive to the remote and frozen north.

I ordered the pepper steak dish and it was excellent. The steak was cooked perfectly and there was a great deal of vegetables as well and they were great. The service was amazing. Our waiter had drink refills on our table before we could even ask. The atmosphere was alright; nothing fancy. The prices seemed reasonable to me. It was a great experience.

One of my favorite Chinese restaurants in town. Love their lunch menu. Delicious and inexpensive. Tried most of their special menu (a more authentic taste) and loved them all.

It's a great place to hang out with friends and family. Check out their facebook page as they do post deals on food and beverage.

I'm just going to echo what's already been written: The food is amazing (best asian in the Copper Country), the food is cheap (cheapest asian in the Copper Country) and the interior design is perfect (best in the U.P.).

It just doesn't seem like something you would find in a small town, but it really is something special, and something I think the community has already embraced. It's been packed every night since it opened and as long as people are willing to not write it off because their new staff isn't perfect yet, it will take off. However, some people are too small minded up here to give it that recognition that a brand new non-chain restaurant might need a week or two to work out kinks.

Overall, it's somewhere I'll go regularly, and somewhere I'd feel very comfortable sitting and having a drink. (The bar does have a Japanese beer that was good)

This restaurant earned its 5 stars from me. It just opened this past Monday, and though our local Chinese fare is not bad at all, Bambu has blown everyone else away. My wife and I went to dinner there on Tuesday on a whim, and felt like we had been transported to New York City. This restaurant has first-class interior design, waitstaff and menu, and even with all of this, the prices are still the best in town. Not sure how they pulled it all off to be honest.

Being a great new restaurant in its first week in a small town, it was packed, and our whole dinner experience took about 2.5 hours, but it was so worth the waiting! We had plenty of time and were not disappointed. We ordered a crab rangoon app, two dinners, and even with a tip our bill only came to $30!!! Wow.

I've already been back for lunch (today), with lunches starting around $7.50, and including an entree, fried rice and choice of soup, this is a hard place to beat. We will definitely frequent Bambu. Great job to the owner!

We were invited to a special preview/training session on Friday. Even though it was the first full run through with the staff, the food was amazing, the service was fairly smooth and the ambiance was top notch. I sampled the egg drop soup, lettuce wraps, crab rangoons and cashew chicken. The egg drop soup was so flavorful. The crab rangoons were light and crispy. The lettuce wraps were a wonderful surprise. I wasn't sure was I was getting into when I ordered them, but they were probably my favorite thing! The cashew chicken was light and super flavorful. All in all, it was an amazing first experience, and I will definitely be going there often.
