The Battleship Brewhouse is a really fun place. It's a popular haunt for locals but I've never had to wait for table seating (although the small bar is usually at 100% capacity). Staff and fellow patrons alike are always in high spirits. And hey, you would be too if your beer selection rivaled the likes found in pubs throughout beer-savvy Europe.
On to brass tacks: The service is way above par. The gentleman with the sleeve tats and Viking beard is da man. He knows the brews well and his recommendations shouldn't be taken lightly. The wait staff is invariably on point. I have yet to sit in front of an empty glass for more than a minute or so.
The Brewhouse has a large communal lot so there's no jockeying for curbside parking. The large picture of the Braga Bridge over Battleship Cove is an appropriate accent but it could use some TLC.
The food I've enjoyed at the Brewhouse is generally of the pub fare variety. The burgers are spot on and the sourdough sandwiches are always really tasty. That said, when my GF and I ate there last night, my sweet potato fries were on the burned side. Also, while her Sam Adams beer battered fish and chips were delicious overall, the fish had been placed over the chips making them ultra-greasy and thus less enjoyable.
I know they have more ambitious offerings that are mainly Portuguese in origin, but since I haven't partaken in these I will refrain from proffering my opinion.
Ultimately, people seem to come here to enjoy a fun atmosphere and a selection of beers normally only found in larger cities or more sophisticated continents.
And for both these things, the Brewhouse will not disappoint.
Great boneless chicken wings.. Definitely not frozen. A lot of beer selection. Burger was good.. No problem with food. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. I will go back again but I hope it's still there.. The resteraunt before them was Calientes and we all know how that turned out. That place was awesome and always packed but there wasn't enough seating to make money.. it just seems like it's mathematically impossible to survive in this place even if your great.
Review Source:I really enjoyed it here. They have awesome beers on tap that are constantly changing and plenty of bottled as well. They have a "beer club", where you pay $10 to get in, and you have to try every beer on a list of probably somewhere around one hundred different beers. If completed, you get a mug with your name on it! I was going to do it, but I don't know that I could drink that many beers in a year and I did not want to disappoint myself by not doing so.
Anyway. They don't have a full bar- their liquor selection is very limited. They only have sugary liquor pretty much. But that's okay because it's a brewhouse.
I've only tried their burger as far as food goes. My friend and I both ordered the mushroom burger, and neither of us were asked how we wanted it cooked. It ended up coming out on the well-done side, which I don't care for. I supposed I should've said how I wanted it, but the optimist in me kept thinking the waitress would come out and ask me as though she forgot. She didn't. It wasn't good, and neither were the fries. I don't know that I'll order food here again.
The atmosphere is pretty cool, I haven't gone yet when it's been too busy.
All in all, Battleship Brewhouse is a cool place to go if you want to just hang out and have some great craft beer.
Beer selection is great. Â Food is standard pub fare. Most recent visit was very sub par compared to previous visits. Ordered a quesadilla that was cold, flavorless and inaccurate in terms of ingredients. I am by no means picky about bar food but don't tell me something is made with mozzarella and then have it come out with bright orange cheese. Overall not a bad spot if your looking for some different beer and a quick bite. If you're picky about your food, probably not the best place for you.
Review Source:Alot of good beers but restaurant cannot take credit for good beer, only for stocking them. I ordered a burger and was given " certified angus" meat, more like certified frozen burger patty that was over cooked and under seasoned. They even messed up the ketchup.. how do you mess up ketchup you ask? You leave it out for too long and, it becomes watery and bitter. My business partner ordered a quesadilla that no cheese even though it was supposed to. I have yet to have a meal I was impressed with at battleship but at least they have left hand milk stout. Id recommend coming here if you enjoy a wide selection of beer and arent looking for an impressive meal to go with it. Over priced, not impressive, but a different place to go in Fall River
Review Source:We had a quick dinner there last week on the way to a show. Â The beer selection was good and the waitress offered a taste of one that sounded interesting. She said she didn't think I would like it and I didn't, so she suggested something else that was good. The burgers had great flavor although they were a little too juicy - the bottom bun was soaked.
However, they gave me back the wrong credit card and charged my card with two meals, mine and the customer they mixed up the cards. I cancelled my card when I found out but I haven't been able to get a refund from them because their phone line has so much interference that it's impossible to get clear information across. I messaged them on their FB page but no response. Â I hate to have to drive down to Fall River (45 minutes) again just for a refund, but I think I will have to.
Update: I did drive down today. The manager was very nice and wrote me a check for the incorrectly charged meal and comped my meal. Â I would go there again for a burger! (but I have learned to check my card when it comes back)!
Went to the Battleship Brewhouse last night after hearing so many things about it. Â It's located in a strip mall and is easy to miss. Â I actually had an issue getting to the plaza but could have just been an issue specifically with my GPS. Â The outside looks like a run of the mill bar. Â Honestly it took me a minute to realize I was at the right place.
However the inside is an improvement. Â The bar sports more of an intimate, contemporary restaurant type feel than a pub or brewhouse. Â There's a 10(ish) person bar straight ahead when you walk in that sports about 20 taps. Â There's a stage on the right for live bands and the rest of the area is filled with dining and pub tables. Â There's a couple TV's for whatever current sports games and they're not loud as to be a nuisance. Â The restaurant itself and tabletops were clean.
What I really like about this place is that they do flights - four 5oz samples for $7.50. Â The downside is that the draft list wasn't that great that night. Â 7 of the 20 taps were fruit beers.. plus 3 more summer beers and then add a couple "crap" beers. Â The remainder was a string of mediocre craft beer. Â Based on reviews and recommendations I had higher hopes; maybe they were too high or I happened to come at the wrong time.
My waitress was very polite and attentive. Â She greeted me shortly after I sat down and I had my flight within minutes of ordering. Â She could answer any questions I had and kept my water filled. Â I ordered the buffalo chicken quesadilla which I found good but not spicy enough but I would order it again. Â The rest of the menu looked like a cross between pub/bar and restaurant food with OK pricing. Â There were some interesting items on the menu like pierogi appetizers and a Portuguese section. Â
I recommend trying it out. Â I'll give it another shot in hopes of a better beer list and to try out some other items on the menu. Â They also don't charge a cover when a live band plays which I thought was cool.
I wish this place had a website as not everyone has Facebook but even their FB page doesn't list much information. Â Directions, beer list, menu, live entertainment schedule, etc would be nice if they could be referenced.
Went to dinner with my wife and my son. Â Great selection of beers on tap. Â We had the nachos they were very good. Â For dinner I had the portuguese steak and it was excellent. My wife had the fish and chips and that was good too. Service was very good and the food came out promptly. We will be back for more.
Review Source:This place is great, and totally, it seems, out of place in Fall River. I overheard a neighboring patron ask for a Narragansett; rest assured, the Battleship Brewhouse does NOT carry that kind of beer.
They DO, however, carry an extensive list of craft beers; there is something here to please everyone, and they offer flights for those who can't pick just one.
Also, for the record, this place has a damn fine macaroni and cheese and excellent service. If I were a local, I would be a regular. The only thing that could make this place better is a nearby cinema (nearby as in, within the same strip mall) and a thriving local economy.
Battleship Brewhouse had a good beer selection and a limited menu. There was no live music when we visited for dinner and beers, and there were only a few other customers. This allowed us to focus more on the food and service.
Unfortunately the food was mediocre and the service was sub par. We are very laid back and undemanding diners, but this visit left much to be desired. The waitress stopped by the table to take the order and drop off the check. We didn't even get a chance to order a second round of beers, and seeing that the food was slow to arrive this was exceptionally inattentive service. Normally I would find excuses for the server, but I couldn't come up with any on this visit.
As for the food my chicken parmesan was overcooked. The cheese coated the entire dish and was burnt black, the chicken eraser like and the sauce tasted like cheap canned fair. My wife's burger was nothing memorable but good belly fill.
When we get bored with the rest of what Fall River has to offer we will stop in again to see if The Battleship Brewhouse's service warrants an updated review.
A five star establishment for what it is, a Brewhouse. Vast selection of beers , changed periodically (which compensates well for them not having a hard alcohol license), and good food, though the menu is limited. Â Ive visited twice so far, the first time i got a burger, and the second baked cod, both were very tasty and filling. Â I was especially impressed with the fish, as i had asked them to be light with butter, and they actually knew how to do so. Â they also have occasional live acoustic acts.
Review Source:Great little bar and restaurant with a very nice selection of beers. Â Food was great too. Â Bartender the day I went was friendly and helpful. Â Only minutes from Battleship cove, a nice way to escape the flocks of tourists. Â Only problem they seem to have is a really loud fridge in back, the compressor buzz is so loud it almost drowns out the music. Â Time to call the tech from True and get that fixed. Â Oh yeah, the homeless guy that cruises the parking lot for hand-outs is a bit aggressive but backs down if you throw it back in his face a bit.
Review Source:Well trying to stray away from the same old same old some coworkers and I decided to give the brew house a try for lunch. Immediately I fell in love with the pictures of our big maymie but the food was excellent. Although the server was super sweet the food took about 35 minutes to get to the table. If it was quicker I would have given it a five stars. The assortment of ales on tap was delightful but annoying since I could not dive into a tall glass of beer but maybe next time!
Review Source:What a great addition to life in the North of Fall River. Â Great comfort food entrees with just enough lighter items to satisfy my wife. Â And we're talking like 10-11 dollar entrees that are very generous.
Staff really hustles to bring out the food and drink. My guess is that they are local folks determined to make good - but this is only a guess. The bar is small and seems to draw folks who love good draft beer rather than the big-belly Coors/Bud crowd.
We have been there three times for quick eats and the place seems to draw a nice balance of people, mostly on the young side with a few students, a couple of couples two or three regulars.
Lots of free and easy parking in the Al-Mac plaza at the bottom of President Avenue. Â At the site of the former Caliente Restuarant.
