My family and I recently moved to Evanston Wyoming from Northern Arizona and are happy as hell that we did. Â But the one thing we were missing was a place to get a good burrito (or other fast easy Mexican-ish food) to go. Â Hallelujah but Bear River Cafe & Mexican Grill opened just a few weeks ago, and good Lord, it's hard to practice moderation here. Â
First off, the people who own/operate it are super nice. Â They'll likely offer you a sample of their daily special when you walk in. Â And we're not talking glorified roach coach food here folks. Â Their menu not only features the "usual" suspects (i.e., carne asada, chicken chipotle, etc.) but some truly interesting offerings such as sweet pork, pork with pineapple (called "el pastor"), chicharrones (we've only seen that in New Mexico) and - please don't ask me why, guess it's an acquired taste - tongue. Â Mmmmmm hmmmmm. Â One of these days on a bet maybe.. Â
But anyhoo, their dining area is always spotlessly clean and for $6.99 you get a GINORMOUS burrito filled to the brim with fresh ingredients. Â I always tell myself I'm only gonna eat half of the thing and end up polishing it all off. Â I hear their breakfast burritos are just as good if not better. Â Here's another thing I love: they're open at 5 AM, so if you have to go to work early, you've got a place to grab a quality bite to eat. Â They also cater.
We'd go here every day if we could! Â But for now, we're keeping it down to once a week.
