Yes, it is now called Chandlers at the Bee since the new owners bought it (they also own Chandler's in Maysville). Â This was our first visit here, or to this area. Â We got here just before noon, so we got the corner window seat with a view of the Riverside Drive and Ohio river. Â Our waitress was very nice and born in Augusta, so she was helpful about local stores to visit, etc. Â We also spoke with the manager, Melissa, who was very friendly and nice too.
I ordered the asparagus & bacon quiche, which came with a small field greens salad. Â The blue cheese dressing was very good - more than enough served on the side. Â The quiche was good but not a very big piece - probably 1/6 of a 9" pie pan. Â The plate also held 2 skewers of fruit - a nice touch, all for $10. Â
My friend ordered a Hot Brown which was also good and came with a small field greens salad for $12.95. Â The waitress was very helpful in finding us the right wine to fit our taste.
We would eat here again, but are not in a hurry to come back.
We recently took a trip down to Augusta to visit a winery there and little did we know there was this totally quaint and adorable town just around the bend!
We decided to stop for brunch on Sunday and Beehive looked so damn adorable we just couldn't help ourselves. The outside is dressed with greenery and flowers. The inside has fresh flowers on every table. The chairs are all mismatched and the building still stand from the 1800's. Honestly besides a coat of paint and some decorations I really don't think this place has ever changed.
Who knew that southern charm was just one hour away? We were greeted by a lovely woman who I think is the owner she sat us and sent us over a waitor, but before that she took our drink order. I asked if they has mimosas' she said no but I'm sure I could make you one! She brings back a delicious mimosas with orange juice she squeezed herself! It was delicious!!!
Onto the food, if you look at my picture you will be in shock. I ordered a ham, cheese and red pepper quiche. Now, I don't even like quiches I just ordered it because it was the only breakfast item on the lunch menu. What I got what the most moist and delicious quiche I have ever had! Flavor, spot on. Texture, spot on. End result was magnificent. It was singing in my mouth. Justin couldn't believe it. He ordered the burger and mac n cheese and he claims the mac n cheese is in the top three he has ever had. Trust - this guy does not go easy on mac n cheesy.
Our meals came with a light salad and fresh fruit. Afterwards I felt so good about spending our money here. The service was wonderful. The atmoshphere was just crazy old school, and the FOOD! I don't know who is back there cookin' but hats off to the chef. Cheers!
