Beggar's Banquet

Hands down the best burger in Michigan. I'm blown away that they don't scream this fact at you the minute you walk in the door. It's surprisingly unadvertised, but by god, that's a good burger.

Had a crab cake there once. Nothing particular to love about.

Beggars used to be an old favorite, dating back to the mid 90s.  I am not sure if the restaurant has changed or I have changed, but it always leaves me wanting.  No, it's the restaurant.

My most recent couple visits have been for brunch with friends.  First thing is the service, always lack luster.  Obviously unenthusiastic and just blah.  Coffee is never refilled, answers to questions are muttered and not very elaborate, and special requests of any kind are an obvious inconvenience.

The food is just okay and not cheap and to be honest I am not sure why we come back here.  Nostalgia maybe, but that will only last so long.
