My family makes (well, used to make) annual trips to Frankenmuth, MI to see the Christmas decorations and pretty winter what-have-yous. Every time we went there, we would always stop at the Birch Run Outlet. And seeing that my family is a typical cheap Chinese family trying to get the most food in our system for the lowest possible price, we naturally went to the only Chinese place there: Beijing Express.
Yes, it looks like a cafeteria and yes, the place needs a serious upgrade. BUT the food is the cheapest by a country mile compared to other places in the area, and was extremely delicious. Healthy, maybe not so much, but who could resist a steaming thick-sauced Mongolian beef on rice? Not me.
Their Pad Thai also isn't that bad (although I wouldn't call it authentic), and they have a large variety of Chinese and American-Chinese food. Little known fact: the people that run this joint are descendants of the Hmong minority in China. Look it up, it's what Wikipedia is for. It'll be good for you.
The service is quick and friendly, there is a real family atmosphere to it. I somehow love the kinda-ghetto-badly-needing-facelift charmof the place. I would recommend it to anyone that's shopping around the Birch Run Outlet Mall.
Fills you up and makes you feel warm inside :)
Now get your mind out of the gutter.
Had a HUGE craving for chinese and this is pretty much the only place I found in Birch Run. Â Just like the name says, they are quick. Â Food was better than I expected. Â We ordered three entrees and egg drop soup and it came to about $20. Â The dishes also come with white or fried rice, even though it is not specified on the menu on the wall. Â Like the other Yelper said, it does have that cafeteria feel.
