They have a good amount of pool tables, which makes me happy (and is one of the first things I notice about a bar, especially in Bellingham). Â The drinks are good, the staff are friendly enough, and they do progressive wells sometime in the week (if my memory holds true?). Â Karaoke is fun enough, but if it's karaoke you want, I'd suggest Rumors instead. Â Bellingham Bar and Grill (or Downtown Johnnys, as it will always be to me) is more of a pool hall bar, and I love it!
Review Source:Looks and sounds like a pool hall dive -- which it becomes after about 8:30 every night -- but don't be misled: Â The food here is downright EXCELLENT and dinner here is very pleasant before the night crowd arrives. Â The hamburgers are tops in Bellingham. Â They are so big (huge) that I always end up having to use a knife and fork. Â They come with the very best, juicy meat and a wide variety of toppings. Â The fries are also the best in town. Â Want a more traditional dinner? Â The steaks are also excellent, as are the fish plates, and the chowder is heavenly. Â We hear that the desserts are also very good, but we never get that far! Â Service is always super friendly and attentive, but can get a bit backed up on very busy evenings. Â Also, not to be overlooked is the full bar, with a good selection of drafts and wines, and barkeeps who do an excellent job. Â Prices are quite reasonable -- and even better if you use the coupon that appears most weeks on the back page of the Wednesday Bellingham Herald. Â BB&G is one of our very favorite places to eat... we have been there dozens of times and it never fails to please!
Review Source:I came last night with my son who has just moved to Bellingham. I was FAMISHED! I had a 16 oz sirloin with a salad and fries and a club soda-NARF! It was good! My son had a steak salad and a neverending cup of coffee. He loved his! Our server was attentive! Steak was cooked just right! Fries were hot! Salad was tasty and the blue cheese dressing was very good! Total bill for all this food was $26! I will be back!
Review Source:Music is great, people are nice, they have pool, sitting areas, it's spacious, bartenders are on top of things.. definitely as good as it gets! Oh yeah, did I mention that every Wednesday night they have progressive wells? 50 cents starting at 9 pm! Every half hour the price goes up by 25 cents. Whiskey sour, please!.... and keep them coming!
Review Source:We ate there last night before going to Mount Baker Theatre. We just went to the first place we saw. We didn't expect much judging from the outside sign. We went in and sat at the bar. We looked at the menu and it looked like your standard bar food. I asked the bar keep if he could reccomend anything and his eyes lit up like a Christmas tree as he led us to the back of the menu and discussed a few dishes. He reccomeded the chicken dish, but we wanted to try the bacon wrapped scallops because they were done by hand, and not from premade frozen. While waiting for the food we ordered Jager Bombs. He made them the right way with a shot in a shot glass and half a can of Red Bull in each glass. I was shocked. He said, "we do things the right way here, we don't cut corners." When the food came the bar keep said, "here is the deal guys, I was talking up the chicken so much that I put in a order for the chicken, so you can have dinner for free, or wait for the scallops, I'm really sorry." We told him not to worry. We would just eat the chicken. I mean, hey, it was a free dinner. I'm so glad that he made that mistake. The only chicken breast that I've ever eaten that was that well cooked, moist, and tasty was my grandma's recipe. That is the best chicken dish that I've ever eaten at any place, hands down, EVER. We were in search of filler bar food and ended up eating a five star meal. We will be back for the scallop dish another time for sure. After talking to the bar keep it turns out that he and his father own the joint and he told me that everything is made from scratch, which I could already tell. I couldn't have asked for anything better to start our night than the experience that Mo and his joint provided for us. After the show we even went back for one more Jager Bomb and Mo called us a cab at our request to take us back to our hotel. This place is perfect. Absolutely perfect. Well done!
Review Source:Outstanding service and delicous bar food in a covernous old store front in downtown Belligham , steps from he Mt. BAker Theater.
The bar features three pool tables, yard of hardwood floors for dancing, falst screens a'plenty. Our adorable waitress was attentive and friendly.
The martini my 1+ had was excellent (thought they were out of mint for the mojito she would have preffered) I had an excellent back cheesburger to accompany my Stella Artois.
Very good experience, will be back.
