They have a good amount of pool tables, which makes me happy (and is one of the first things I notice about a bar, especially in Bellingham). Â The drinks are good, the staff are friendly enough, and they do progressive wells sometime in the week (if my memory holds true?). Â Karaoke is fun enough, but if it's karaoke you want, I'd suggest Rumors instead. Â Bellingham Bar and Grill (or Downtown Johnnys, as it will always be to me) is more of a pool hall bar, and I love it!
Review Source:Looks and sounds like a pool hall dive -- which it becomes after about 8:30 every night -- but don't be misled: Â The food here is downright EXCELLENT and dinner here is very pleasant before the night crowd arrives. Â The hamburgers are tops in Bellingham. Â They are so big (huge) that I always end up having to use a knife and fork. Â They come with the very best, juicy meat and a wide variety of toppings. Â The fries are also the best in town. Â Want a more traditional dinner? Â The steaks are also excellent, as are the fish plates, and the chowder is heavenly. Â We hear that the desserts are also very good, but we never get that far! Â Service is always super friendly and attentive, but can get a bit backed up on very busy evenings. Â Also, not to be overlooked is the full bar, with a good selection of drafts and wines, and barkeeps who do an excellent job. Â Prices are quite reasonable -- and even better if you use the coupon that appears most weeks on the back page of the Wednesday Bellingham Herald. Â BB&G is one of our very favorite places to eat... we have been there dozens of times and it never fails to please!
