This bar/diner is very deceiving!!!! It looks great from the outside and on the inside. The menu looked great, too. They get 2 stars for appearance, but that's all the stars they get. This place should be on Chef Ramsay's Hell Kitchen's. This place needs to decide if it's a bar and diner, or just one of the two because it sure is not both! They have quite a bit of seating for people that are eating, but the service is painfully slow. They had 2 servers that could not keep up with all the seating. The kitchen window is very small and may have slowed it up, too. The menu is extremely well done, but prices are very high, especially considering anything you order is nothing more than mediocre, bar garbage.
They do get points for all their TV's. If you are just having a drink and watching a sports game, I would come here.
This place should focus on being a bar and not serve so much food.
For good food, go next door to Jefferson's. To watch sporting event and get a drink, go here.

Center street slider!!!!
my first try at a burger with an egg on top of it, and its very good, believe me you can go wrong with it. I love the atmosphere at betty joes, nice unusual decor, great staff. Free pop corn, i wish they had more pool tables and at times the bartenders can be slow. Its a nice clean atmosphere with plenty of tvs to watch the games, and they do have karaoke from time to time.
Be sure to give betty a kiss for me when you go there.
After a 4 year absence my wife and I stopped in on Monday night. Â The smell of stale grease and smoke hits you as soon as you walk in. Â The sandwiches and appetizers were standard bar fare. Â My wife ordered a side of garlic mashed potatoes that were totally flavorless and inedible. Â The windows and blinds looked like they haven't been cleaned in years. Â But I guess if you're a college student looking to drink none of this matters.
Review Source:This is a good place to have a sandwich. Â The French dip on a Bloedow hoagie bun was just right for a lunch. Â Served with chips made it perfect. Â Free popcorn and plenty of TV's help pass the time waiting for your food. Â Food was served hot and prompt. Â Friendly place with lots of history.
Review Source:Bar food in an historic setting.
Service was decent, selection was sandwiches, burgers, wraps and some dinner steak, chicken and pasta selections.
The rib eye was poor. The burgers looked great. The drinks were all measured. No free poor at Betty Jo's. Â
Popcorn at the bar which was a positive!
I would return for a drink but not before I tried all the other hangouts in town.
Yes, daily specials everyday - isn't that redundant? Â Anywho - Friday Fish Fry, I've been countless times, probably gave them too much of my money, but what can you do, you're in Winona and you want some fried food, I'd come to Betty Joes, it's bar food - and that's where it ends, service is ALWAYS inconsistent, and I've really only been on Fridays and the fish has taken over an hour to get to our table once, I don't know why we didn't leave, probably 'cause there was no where else to go. Â The servers are mostly nice too.
