This was a total disappointment. Four of us picked this place off Yelp, none of us live here but it was a central location. Â After we were seated the waitress explained their coolers went out so they only had one rather warm draft beer, bottled beer was available and cold. We had a few beers and then went to order lunch only to find out some of the menu was not available, again due to cooler problems.
My friends had hamburgers (good) and a veal bologna sandwich (unique and good). No french fries available, which I thought they were known for.
The young waitress was pleasant and tried to explain the situation. Sadly she should have been instructed to tell us, as soon as we walked in, that there were problems with the coolers, the draft beer, and the menu. Then we would have had a chance to go somewhere else, tow of us are big draft beer fans.
This was a failure of management... and no we never did see a manager or anyone else who might have apologized.
Now come on folks, no french fries???? They did have onion rings, don't understand that. The Health Department should take a look at this joint.
I just had dinner with friends, and it was excellent. The burger was cooked perfectly, very juicy and delicious. Â It came with lettuce, tomato, onion, and LOTS of pickles. Â The fries are really good, too. Â I don't think this is too "divey." Â The menu was bar food, but a little different--fried baloney and liverwurst sandwiches, for example. Â The service was fast and friendly. Â We'll definitely be going back.
Review Source:I'm reviewing weekend nights at Biergarten. The place is typically packed and quite lively. The atmosphere is somewhat stuffy and the karaoke is quite awkward. The DJ is a really nice guy but the clientele is the type that makes rude remarks to anyone who isn't a professional singer. I wouldn't honestly recommend going here; the crowd is clique-ish and the drinks are overpriced. There are much better places to go within a block or two in this peak location in downtown Dearborn.
Review Source:Went Here once I dont think I will ever go back. Just not my kind of place, as much as I like going to a bar with no one in it, I usually refrain. Its a great place if you don't want to have too much fun, and for some reason it is a top nightlife place around the area, I guess thats kinda indicative of the Yelp demographic.
A dumpy little corner bar In No Way A Nightlife Spot, from a former bouncer that worked in the nightlife service industry. Hey they got GoldenTee!
You'd think this place would have a large beer selection, right? Wrong. It doesn't. Come on! We are MICHIGAN, the BEER STATE. They didn't have any Michigan brews on draft, and very few bottles Michigan brews to choose from. I was disappointed. Other than that, it was fine. They had all the basics. The atmosphere is very divey/Michigan-like. If you're from the midwest or Michigan, you know what I mean.
Review Source:Was craving a burger Friday night and was highly considering a trip to Millers Bar when a couple friends said that the burgers here were much better. Â So we came in and I had the burger with 2 kinds of cheese it was delicious! Â Cooked perfectly, meat seasoned well and just the greasy goodness I was craving. Â I've been here many times before for drinks and their always pretty good and priced right. Â I'm giving this place 4 stars rather than 5 for 2 reasons, first on occassion the service is a little slow and only because there is just one waitress. Â She is always friendly and hustling but because there is just one of her it can take a few extra minutes to get your drinks. Â Also, its kinda dingy but perhaps thats part of the appeal lol and the reason for the reasonable prices. Â Great place and I'll keep going.
Review Source:When I can't make it to Sidetracks, I go to the Biergarten for a pretty good hamburger. Â I'm not a fan of the fries because they're not homemade. Â What I do really like, though, is that they carry Schlitz. Â When Carmen's husband was alive, they owned another bar on Ford Road that we used to go to after work. Â This was another place where you could get a really good burger. Â I also prefer this over Miller's. Â Nice little neighborhood bar.
Review Source:There are few bars that I go to that always work; this is one of them. Â I don't think I have ever had a bad time hanging out here, and I have been here a lot. Â What little I have ordered from the food menu has been tasty, and the drink prices are always reasonable, whether it's the $1 pints at the foot of the work-week, or the pitchers on a packed Saturday night for karaoke. Â The staff has always been cool with me and my friends so that is another plus. It's a very down-to-earth place where you can have a good time and meet people.
Review Source:It's the Biergarten. Â I've been coming here for years, and I live about 15 miles from Dearborn. Â Deanna and company know how to run a bar. Â Lloyd runs a pretty awesome karaoke on Saturdays. Â Menu is great -- try the fried Bologna sandwich. Â It sounds weird, but trust me.
My parents still call this place Misko's. Â It's really annoying.
a perfectly acceptable local watering hole. Â
we just happened here on the way to our friends for a holiday party and needed a bar to meet in a couple hours before the party started. Â yelp came through with exactly what i was looking for.
i wanted warm, nice waitresses, and kinda that neighborhood bar feel. Â the biergarten cam through on all accounts.
the name made me think they would have something a little more interesting on tap besides sam adams and newcastle, but i found the beer cold and the waitress assured me that they had a cooler full of other options.
once we got to our holiday party our friends told us it was their favorite local dearborn bar and that they prefer it to miller's
love, juston
I've only had the cheeseburger and fries, but they're great! Flavorful, juicy patty (even if it doesn't come out medium), topped with American and a mild Swiss. The fries have always been steaming hot and crisp, just the way they should be. Excellent meal, fairly priced.
The first two times we came here, we were just about the only ones in the place, which is never the most comfortable. We went last night, though, and it was hopping. It was nice to see some life in the place. There was a DJ doing music and karaoke, which was a little loud for me (although we were right next to his little booth), but was entertaining.
A couple small negatives:
-When busy, the place feels a little cramped.
-There was only one waitress. She was friendly and as attentive as she could be, but they could have maybe used another waitress.
-It's a small thing to gripe about, but they don't stock Stoli.
Overall, it's a great place and I'm positive we'll keep going back for the burgers.
Lived in Dearborn for 2 years, and this was a diamond in the rough.
Living in the shadow of Miller's Bar, this place goes unnoticed on the drag of Michigan Ave that is Dearborn, MI.
We frequented this bar for their daily beer specials and burgers. Its a dive bar and we have never left there unsatisfied. Prefer it to all the other bars in the area, including Miller's.
Jake and I thought we'd come here after reading the great reviews here on Yelp.
When we arrived, we were the only customers in the entire bar. It was a little awkward because we were expecting some sort of hopping going on in a bar on a Friday night... Weird.
There was one bartender/waiter whose eyes were glued to the big screen TVs. I'm surprised he noticed us at all.
We got menus and both ordered the same thing: a cheeseburger, medium, with an order of French fries. Jake originally ordered chili, but the guy told us they were out of it. And onion rings. Bummer.
Jake and I ordered a couple adult beverages and headed to the pool table. It only cost $.75 to play! Unfortunately, there was no 8 ball, haha, so we kinda improvised. We told the waiter and he came and opened a secret door on the table stand and gave it to us. That was fun.
Our food came out mid-game and we paused to eat. The burger was DELICIOUS. It was juicy, well-seasoned and just the right size. And cheap, too... I think it was $3.75. The fries were really good, too. Nice and crunchy.
Overall, the atmosphere suffered because there was no one there to enjoy it with us... but the food was good and the bill was cheap... Two things I appreciate.
Id definitely go back.
(They only accept credit card if the bill is over $20.)
yep this place rocks!
we had a great night full of beer and cocktails, the bar tender that day was a dude named "chris".. this guy is a cool guy!
he basically gave us the dummies guide to detroit, we were new to town btw..
if ur on a downer, need some cheering up, then go to this place.. well thats when chris is working tho!
I'm a tad embarrassed to say that I've lived in the Dearborn area for almost 9 years and tonight was my first visit to The Biergarten. Â What can I say? Â It's not one of those places that catches your eye as you're cruising down Michigan Avenue looking for something to do. Â In fact, if friends hadn't asked us to meet them there, the hubs and I would not have gone tonight. Â But thank God for pushy friends!
This is literally the gem of casual dive bars. Â It looks like one of those places that you think will have nothing but cans of Natty Light, but they have an impressive selection of imported beer and top shelf liquor. Â
I was drinking Sprineapples (I made up the name but it's Pineapple Skyy Vodka + Sprite). Â Â I make them at home and these were just as good. Â Â And cheap! Â Hubs and I ordered 2 dinners, an appetizer, and 4 drinks and it came to $30! Â
The food is more than just bar food. Â They have a nice selection of salads and sandwiches and everything was quite tasty. Â Our server was also quick and attentive. Â We even taught her how to correctly pronouce Smithwicks and she expressed her gratitude. Â Â
The place is so relaxed that anyone from Donald Trump to the 'Eat Em' Up Tigers' guy would feel comfortable. Â It doesn't draw attention to itself so I imagine the owners rely more on word of mouth than neon signs. Â
I just got home and I'm ready to go back and hang out!
This is one of my favorite bars ever. I love the easy atmosphere & the family owned feeling of the bar, you don't have to come here too many times before you are considered family too.
Great food, great prices, great service, never a cover charge...all in all, great neighborhood/dive bar. Â The only thing I don't care for it Karaoke on Saturday nights but every other night I love the place!
This has gotta be the BEST dive bar I have visited in Metro Detroit. Â In $36, I got 3 rounds of drinks for 3 people, 1 shot, and 1 order of 12 wings and fries. Â I kid you not, imported beers were $3.75 - I thought it was all a smoke-filled-dream... Â
Biergarten has free karaoke and consequent entertainment by the random scattering of locals. Â Silent Bob and his long-haired-and handle-bar-mustached side kick, Jean Pierre, high-fived my New Order... just before they belted out Peter Gabriel's "Shock the Monkey." Â Don't worry - there is also a pool table for those who don't want to sing off-key in front of Dearborn's finest. Â
Though time stands still with big hair and tapered jeans in this joint, it is still runnin like a dream on a busy Saturday night by just one waitress and bartender. Â They worked themselves to the ground to keep the bar rockin! Â
Biergarten is a MUST visit in Dearborn.
The Biergarten has a good selection of domestic, imported and local beers at reasonable prices as well as a full bar. Â They have the best overall beer selection in Dearborn.
Their kitchen serves hamburgers and other sandwiches, again at very reasonable prices. Â In my case, it was $3.75 for a perfectly prepared 1/3 lb. cheeseburger with 2 different kinds of cheese.
The atmosphere of the place is fun and casual. Â Most of its clientele are folks in the mid-20s and on into their 30s.
They have a pool table and there's never a shortage of people willing to play.
The Biergarten also features Karaoke - or at least they do on Saturday nights. Â I'm not sure about the other nights of the week. Â I have to admit that I'm really not a fan of Karaoke, but there's something about Karaoke at the Biergarten that inspires some of my friends to buy me drinks.
For that, I'll put up with Karaoke. Â You'll just find me over by the pool table.
