Big Jake's is good ol Southern BBQ. Â I am drawn to the NC style, but this was good stuff. Â Brisket and hot sausage were my favorites. Â Friendly staff and quick service. Â I also liked their free relish bar, peppers, pickles, onions, etc. Â Nice Touch.
I was so stuffed I couldnt save room for the fried pies, this looked like a house specialty. Â If I am forced to visit Hope again I will return to Big Jakes
A local favorite! The staff is friendly and helpful. They serve brisket, chicken, and smoked sausage. Â I love the fact that the sauce is separate, being as I'm not big on drowning my meat in BBQ Sauce. I order the small plate on a regular basis. It comes with 2 meats and 2 sides and runs around $7. I usually have enough left for another meal. Â And if you dine in you might score a free sample of their fried pies...yum!
Review Source:I had lunch there today. I got the large sandwich with pulled pork and smoked sausage along with a peach fried pie. I felt like a kid in a candy store! Â It was all really good! Â Loved the flavor of the sausage. Â The fried pie was twice as big as most and cooked to perfection. Â The sweet tea was also really good, sweet but not to sweet like many places. If I could change anything about it, I would have the pie warmed up with a scoop of ice cream but it was really good like it was.
Review Source:I've eaten at Jake's several times while driving on vacation with the Sea-doos to Branson and Hot Springs. Â I always enjoyed the brisket sandwich. Â But the last drive I made through the Hope area, I decided I needed to do a serious critique.
Being on a rib quest as of late, I ordered a rib and sliced brisket plate with potato salad and cloe slaw. Â I dug into the brisket first, bur I was disappointed. Â Tender and only somewhat moist, there was no smoke ring or smoky taste. Â I should have been skeptical when i saw them pull a cellophane wrapped brisket out of the warmer. Â This definitely needed sauce, of which I am only mildly fond of. Â
However, the ribs were great. Â Bark, smoke ring, smokiness, tender bite, nice rub. Â What more kind you ask for? Â No sauce needed here. Â The potato salad was good, maybe a little overly "mustarded" but I liked it alright. Â The slaw was good too, with just the right amount of creamy dressing, not swimming in it. Â
The 3 stars is definitely for the ribs, the brisket was barely two stars if that.
Oh yeah, and the fried pies are worth the stop by themselves.
Were driving across country and dropped by for lunch. Just did the drive through.
We had BBQ beef brisket and pulled pork sandwiches. Both were fantastic!! So was the BBQ sauce.
Sides of Mac n cheese and sweet potato fries were OK. nothing extremely special.
The fried pies were awesome but cold. We were eating around 2 though. Still, the filling was fantastic!
Def recommend stopping by!
