A unique twist on many great cocktails, the bar is stocked with a variety of quality liquors. Â Every drink looks and tastes incredible, if your unsure what to try first - feel free to ask for a recommendation - they have it all from sweet, savory to strong! They have a fiber light star ceiling and the over all feel is modern and trendy.
*One of the best bloody mary's in town with a side of pepper vodka for and extra kick.
Nice array of classic and modern cocktails. The service was very attentive and knowledgeable when asked questions. The prices are high, but one should expect that for the above reasons. It's pricey, so go with good grip of cash! Oh, and it was a bit dark for us. Other than that; you should check it out.
Review Source:Great martini selection the wide variety does not take away from the craftsmanship the bartender puts into every drink.
The food is a great selection. It's not your typical bar food which is a nice change.
Their antipasto platter is absolutely one of the best I had in a while. Just thinking about it makes hungry.
I had their Reems Drop with strawberry which was good and my second was a grapefruit cocktail not on the menu the bartender suggested it.
I love coming here and to these types of places small classy martini bars.
One of the stops on my birthday night out. Â This is a small and intimate sort of bar, trendy and upscale feel with really good martinis.
When we got here, I was pretty trashed. Â The last thing I wanted was another drink. Â That said, the server was really good at giving me water every time I asked for some. Â The place was packed, and he never faltered to hook me up with some agua. Â I had a sip of a friend's chocolate martini, absolutely delish! Â It made me forget that liquor was making me ill. Â
The crowd is a bit older, not too many peeps my age there. Â I had to keep a friend from making nice with some older ladies that were oh so willing to entertain some young blood.
It's downtown, try your luck at finding parking somewhere.
Bistango is one of my favorite places to go for an excellent cocktail. Â My favorite is "The Mexican", which is absolutely delcious. Â Whether you like fruity, sweet drinks or want something more basic and refreshing, Bistango has a great selection of martinis and other cocktails. Â The ambiance is great, and the homemade chips and other small bites are delicious. Â Bistango is the ultimate girls night out cocktail lounge!
Review Source:Our Bikes and Brews Crew had ridden over on our bicycles on the Centennial Trail from Post Falls and Hayden Lake Idaho and we were spending the evening in Spokane before heading back home on Sunday.
We had been walking around downtown trying to find somewhere that didn't involve the "puker" 20 something crowd when someone in the group suggested going here.
What a breath of fresh air this place was! Great decor, atmosphere, and I have to say all of our drinks were perfectly made.
Definitely will be back here and will recommend it to others!
Either I hit this place on a bad night (it was a Friday?!) or Bistango is HIGHLY overrated. Granted, the ambiance and decor is pretty swank, and our waitress was very attentive, but the drinks lacked in passion, flavor, and presentation.
We ordered two off of the featured summer menu: Firefly Mojito and Elderflower Citrus. The mojito was completely unmemorable; the Elderflower had an interesting flavor, a bit tart, and was the best drink of the night. I also got "Spokane's best Manhattan" and was completely heartbroken. If this is the best Manhattan in Spokane, Bistango sent me running for the first flight home. R-u-n-n-i-n-g.
I might give this place another try if I'm back in the area, but if my experience would be a repeat of the first, I'd never return.
I was confused by Bistango.
The drink menu featured 2 drinks that sounded somewhat tasty, then about 40 that can be categorized as sweet, sweeter, super sweet with caffeine, insanely sweet, disgustingly sweet, and alcoholic sugar.
The lounge had a generally nice and attractive set up, smelled of the clientele's abusive fragrance usage, and was bumping... (is it really... yes it is) Guns and Roses music videos. Maybe I arrived on an unadvertised irony night, but it all just seemed a bit strange.
I love an excellently crafted cocktail, but this place seemed to simply rely on combining overly sweet liqueurs to make drinks that taste nothing like alcohol. Drinking a dessert and watching bad music videos isn't really my cup of booze, but if it's what you're looking for, then enjoy the drunk diabetes for me.
Cheers.
First, take a look at who has given Bistango four and five stars. Â Few of them are actually from Spokane. Â Take the hint. Â The same kinds of people that call Spokane a "meth capital" and "trashy" are the kinds of people that enjoy places like Bistango, an overpriced martini bar that is trying far too hard to pretend that it is not "part of Spokane." Â The beauty of the Lilac City is the fact that there are so many mainstay establishments that "are what they are." Â Bistango pretends to be high society (yes, in Spokane). Â
Alright, off my soapbox for a minute, let's talk drinks. Â The martinis are Bistango are equally highfalutin. Â They are overpriced and over-sweet. Â I did not order a martini so that I could suck on a lollipop. Â I want the GIN. Â
When you walk in, you will remember this review and think: wow, he is a genius. Â If you are the frat boy type trying to get laid by your oh-so typical 20-something girlfriend (boots, leather coach purse, and too much makeup/perfume), then enjoy because you will definitely fit in here. Â
If your girlfriend has any taste and personality (and brains for that matter), bring her somewhere fun. Â This place is not "slightly more refined" as has been noted. Â There is a stripper pole in the bar. Â If you want to be a real Spokaloo, grab a Martini at Europa or head over to the Davenport's Peacock Lounge.
I had an extremely tasty drink here called Huckleberry. Â Dangerous because you couldn't even taste the alcohol in it yet from the two I had I got a nice buzz. Â Always have to be careful with the sweet drinks. Â Some of the roughest nights of my life have been caused from drinking too many of those and not realizing it until it was too late. Â Bar is good but too small/crowded. Â They definitely could use some extra space here. Â The crowd here was definitely mixed. Â Had some younger people and the aging Affliction wearing/bad plastic surgery/trying way too hard crowd. Â Kind of strange to see that crowd in Spokane. Â I figured that's more of a common thing in OC, Huntington Beach, etc. Â Still, this place keeps me coming back whenever I'm in the Spokane area.
Review Source:One of the best if not THE best places in Spokane that is chic, elegant and hip to relax and sip on one of many martini choices. Although a little 'cozy', the decor is absolutely stunning!
I visit family in Spokane now and then, and heard so much about Bistango from my sister-in-law since it opened. A couple years ago we tried to stop by one night but the place was packed, we didn't even get out of the car.
Since I love a good martini now and then, another opportunity to stop in came up one late Wed(?...it was a week day) afternoon during my recent visit to Spokane. After visiting a friend at the newspaper, I walked to Bistango which was only a couple blocks away. It was still early, about 5PM, there was only 2 other people in the place. Quiet except for the tv going above...can't even remember what was playing. I had a Tanqguery 10 Martini...mmwah! The owner Reema came out and chatted with me for a while, a very lovely and friendly woman!
It's for sure a singles place at night and the place is probably packed. But if you don't want to be in a crowd, then go in the late aftn/early eve. You'll enjoy it more, the atmosphere is ...like a perfect martini!
This is on my 'must stops in Spokane'!
I've been there three times now, so I think a review is in order. First time - late weekend evening and very crowded. To be expected. Still, very friendly and the go go dancer was interesting surprise. I think they paid her to be a flirt between gigs or something because she was working the crowd in a winking, direct eye-contact, followed by knowing-smile kinda way (this place is small and me and my friends are not ... um small). Three stars.
Next time: Early weekday with bestie. Quite, Sade on the DVD player. Twinkling lights in the ceiling. Another beautiful bar (as in the physical bar itself). No dancer. Couple of couples. Bar tender entertained us with pie-themed drinks. I sampled the malt and barley themed drinks, myself. Four stars.
Last Thursday: Walk in. Its quiet, little louder music. Sit at the bar; nice. Attentive bartender again. Look left - HOLY JEEBUS!! THERE'S A GIANT GUY PLAYING BLUES GUITAR WHERE THE POLE DANCER SHOULD BE!!! Turns out: he's good. Drunk Canadian accountant buying us drinks is a huge fan. Five Stars.
As someone slightly more refined than your average Spokie, I enjoyed Bistango a great deal. For me, part of the appeal was the aesthetically pleasing interior (including the lighting, water sculptures, etc.), along with the general feel of the place. Yes, it was small, but that was part of its charm. IMO, if you moved Bistango from Spokane and placed it in New York or Chicago, it would blend in seamlessly with the other bars off of Hubbard St. (in Chicago), or in the West Village (NYC). Â
For the most part, the drinks were above average. Outside of Miami, I have not been able to find a better mojito. While the Bistango mojito is $11 dollars, two could probably last the average social drinker the entire evening. The dessert drinks, especially the Godiva chocolate martini and key lime pie martini, are also decent.
So, why not 5 stars? First, on crowded evenings, it can take forever for someone to take your order. Oftentimes, there are not any drink menus at the table. I cannot tell you how many times I had to go up to the bar and ask for menus. Also, I agree with those who said the go go dancer doesn't jive with the bar. Â Jazz yes, but go go dancers?!?! Not so much.
Overall, if you can find a place to sit, I would highly recommend Bistango on a night when there are no go go dancers.
Five stars for the Mexico martini! Â I'm craving it right now and it's not even 11am yet. Â But if you're not a fan of cilantro, stay away because this drink is full of little green pieces and will get stuck between your teeth. Â I advise first date couples to stay away from this drink all together for the latter reason. Â No one wants to kiss a salad mouth. Â But then again you can always carry a floss and a mirror with you and secretly get rid of them in the corner. Â It's pretty dark in the lounge and you just might get away with the action.
Review Source:This place is very fancy for Spokane. I love the atmosphere but could deal without the prices! The cocktails are amazing, but other places charge half the price. I had the fireworks martini, I heard amazing things about it. They actually set the glass on fire and create "fireworks" with spices. The show making it was great, but it was just an alright cocktail. It was too coffee tasting for me. I love their white cosmos here though, the cucumber is great, you wouldn't think of so, but they did and I'm glad!
Review Source:My experience was very different then most of the Yelpers here. We went with some friends (party of 6) and we were the only 35+ people in the very crowded and small bar.
The drinks were good, the atmosphere was trendy and modern, what we refer to as mega cruise-shippy-ness (always trying to one-up the last mega ship).
The drinks were good, the small plate food was just average. Perhaps we were all looking for a more refined atmosphere, or maybe we wanted to feel that we weren't sardines or perhaps it was the fact we were surrounded by mostly under 25 year olds that were there to get drunk rather then enjoy socializing but Bistango just didn't do it for us.
QUESTION: Why oh why was there a go-go dancer there???? She just didn't fit in at all.
Anyhow, we had our drinks ate the small plates and headed off to another to do our socializing.
Bistango serves it purpose in Spokane, that's why I gave it 4 starts, but it is not a refined place, instead it is the new in place where one goes to be seen and to brag to their friends they were there last night.
What a great place. Very young and hip and beautifully designed. Â The French 75 was out of this world. Â The mojito was the best I've ever had. Â Make sure you try the Dirty Hangar, my new favorite, garnished with bleu cheese stuffed olives. Mmmm-M. Â The bartenders here know what they're doing. This is the place me and the gals like to gather to take a breath. Â It's a great place to escape to.
Love the ambiance of this place, courtesy of nice lighting and the sounds of live music video concerts. Check it out.
I do like Bistango. Â The bar is beautiful and drinks are great. Â I usually order the Mexico Martini, which is tart with cilantro (something quite unique to anything I've found in Spokane). Â They sometimes have a Go-Go dancer who provided us great conversation but wasn't anything what I would call great dancing. Â I much prefer the piano player.
My only complaint is that it is a small space and it fills up. Â It's often difficult to find a seat, especially if you have more than two people with you. Â This has caused us to share a table with strangers several times, which can be fun but sometimes we'll want to socialize more privately.
I do have to say that the people that frequent Bistango are usually wealthy and some are even well known in Spokane. Â In my many trips here I've met some multi-miliion dollar business owners (yes, you would know their names). Â As a middle class girl who sometimes enjoys Mootsy's as much as a swanky bar, I sometimes feel like I don't belong here.
All in all, it's a great place to grab a drink. Â We usually stop in if it's not too busy...if not, we'll head to Cavillino Lounge up the street.
I liked Bistango. I don't know if I would go there constantly...I had my "first public drink" there, a huckleberry martini. Yea, I'm a classy gangsta. It was kinda pricey for ME but then I dont go to places like THAT very often. Hardly ever. The waiter/bartender was interesting... I ended up getting tipsy. Lightweight. There WERE a lot of old people in there (you know, the 30+ you were talking about) bwahaha I guess I'd go there again. If I was single, 30, and ready to mingle, I'd probably go there all the time. Thats cuz I'm a classy gangsta.
Review Source:I grew up in Spokane back in the days when there wasn't anything in downtown Spokane except for a bunch of empty buildings. I recently took a trip back, stayed at the Davenport, and drank at Bistango. I have to say I was impressed. Ignoring the fact that they only had about 6 menus for the whole bar, the martini selection was great. My date and I sat for quite a while working our way through a variety of martinis. Some of them were not my style, some had a little too much sugar, and some had just the right amount of whip cream. The waiter was cool and since they were slow that night, we chatted with him about the transforming of downtown Spokane.
I can see the potential for this place to be a little pretentious, but that didn't bother me at all.
As Darin P. said, I am from Santa Barbara and Bistango is the first place in Spokane I entered and let out a sigh of relief.
It is simply beautiful. Â It has nice lounging areas and an extnsive cocktail list. Â Not only do they have an extensive list, but the drinks are actually good. Â It is a little pricey for Spokane, but compared to other areas in its caliber this place is a deal. Â I've paid 15 to 30 dollars for a cocktail in the same environment as Bistango.
This is what I expected from the Davenport. Â Too bad its still a little too 'stuffy' or chic for Spokane. Â I'm 23 and am very comfortable here. Â Like Darin P. said, keep these places coming Spokane!
Being part of the 35+ club... though just barely... my experience at Bistango is a little different than my new friend's. Â While Mike edged me out of the first review, he makes a few good points. Â There are some people there that take themselves too seriously. Â However, we can find those people most anywhere. Â I've found they make for fun conversation, and rarely do they impact my experience in a negative way. Â As for the bouncer - my only thought there is the common ownership with Niko's across the street and the need for shared services.
Bistango is a great gathering place for nights when you don't want too loud of music or too tight of quarters. Â The decor is fabulous, the wait staff is usually pretty good, and they have a vast martini menu for those that like that. Â It is the kind of place that someone from New York or Seattle or San Francisco could walk into and feel at home. Â OK, Spokanites are still a bit more laid back than these larger cities, and the prices are a bit lower than what I see at similar establishments when I travel. Â But this is the kind of lounge atmosphere that Spokane needs if it is going to continue to grow, attract visitors, and lure major events (such as the US Figure Skating National Championship).
If you've not yet been to Bistango you simply have to try it at least once. Â It may not be your cup of tea, but I doubt you'll regret your visit.
I love Spokane's Downtown and Bistango definitely serves a purpose but its not my kind of place. Located within a stones throw from the Davenport Hotel, Bistango is a high end Martini and cocktail lounge with a very cool interior. They used alot of materials in a very creative manner and many Spokanites like the contemporary lounge atmosphere. However, a few things are just a little too much even for the Spokane Downtown Renaissance that I so actively support and enjoy:
1. The crowd tends to be the 35+ set that watched a few too many episodes of 'Sex and the City' and wants to pretend they live in New York. Unfortunately, they think this means that they are supposed to take themselves too seriously and should act rude and arrogant. Spokane is getting better but lets not try to act like something we are not .
2. Bistango periodically has a fully clothed "Go Go" Dancer (what do you call a dancer on a platform who wears clothes?) on a 3'x3' platform situated at the side of the bar. She dances really slowly regardless of what music is on and it almost looks like she is doing tai chi or stretching. I don't know what is wrong with this but it makes me uncomfortable.
3. I once saw a bouncer on a Friday dressed in all black wearing an earpiece. Honestly, who is this guy talking to? This may have been a one time thing but it has stuck in my memory
Basically, the place  is sort of like a 'retirement home' bar for those who think they are cool or perhaps were cool at some point in the distant past. The interior is worth going in and ordering a drink and the bartenders are very good. Also, it serves a purpose in Spokane (albeit an awkward purpose) so it is a nice compliment to the Downtown Core.......just not a cool one.
