As the owner from 2004-2009, I will be the first to admit that we have had less than good luck with who has been running the place between September of 2009 and August of 2011-- but Carl and Dee have been in there making the magic happen at the Black Dog since May of this year, and you will NOT be disappointed. Â All meat is smoked in house by Carl - a true professional in the field. Â With Dee in the kitchen cooking, you can't go wrong. Â Things have been unsteady the past few years, but everything is coming together now. Â Stop in and see for yourself!

I ate there labor day weekend and it was fantastic. Â I travel around a bunch in the south and Midwest and have had a lot of pulled pork, this is the best pulled pork I ever ate. Â
The owner smokes his own meat as needed, so anything like prom or brisket is fantastic.
And then there is the smoked cheddar. Â Go there and try it.
When this place opened several years ago it was a 5 star joint for the Crosby area. Â Then the ownership situation started to change every year or so, at least three times. Â My most recent visit revealed terrible service, mediocre food and probably me writing this restaurant off for good. Â Tragic as it used to be awesome. Â They USED to have ribs you'd become addicted to. Â
I won't return unless someone else is paying or whomever owns it now figures out whats what.
