Delicious food, great drinks, fantastic atmosphere... excellent! I'm not a snob about food and I feel that everything I've had here was delicious. This is one of my favorite spots in Ashland for drinks and hanging out; darts in the back, a live acrobat regularly... and delicious black bean hummus plate (favorite!) and tartar sauce (their fish & chips certainly aren't bad).
I'll admit that beyond the food and the drinks, the atmosphere is really what sells this place for me... sweeping high ceilings, funky British decor, large fireplace and huge 2nd-story windows overlooking downtown Ashland... love it!
Worst service and Fish and Chips ever! Had the Fish and Chips and it is definitely not good. Also, service from Ursala was even worst! She charged me $7.50 for a beer with a splash of liqueur because she "assumed" we wanted the larger one. Never going back again and was never charged that much in the past. Go to Louie's instead folks! Cheaper beer with nicer service. I should have left her nothing for a tip but I was a restaurant person myself in the past and know that she could have had an off day but c'mon, don't assume! Watch some Bar Rescue!
Review Source:Rolled into Ashland to overnight during a mid-week road trip, my first time there. Looked around for somewhere to grab dinner, found myself in the Black Sheep. Stood around kind of awkwardly... Apparently it's a "grab-your-own-menu-and-seat-yourself" type place. Well, okay.
Once I got that all figured out, though, things took a turn for the better - the place had a very comfy and lively vibe, with groups and families alike enjoying themselves. I was on the tired side and opted for shepherds pie, which was delicious and nicely modernized without being fussy or silly. Totally hit the spot.
