Blake's

We were visiting Waverly because of a track meet at Wartburg College. My daughter and I stopped in for a drink and a bite to eat.
We met John, the owner. He's a pretty laid back guy. He was dressed in shorts, T-shirt and flip flops.
Great drinks but the BLTs are his specialty. You have to try them. John is a Bacon master and offers several different types of Bacon to choose from. Pecanwood smoked bacon was my choice for my BLT. Loads of gourmet bacon piled on perfectly toasted bread. Outstanding. My daughter tried Maple and it too was fantastic.
The bar is frequented by older locals as it is an old establishment that John recently took over. He has turned it into more of a younger feeling sportsbar/grill atmosphere and I think it will catch on with the younger crowd as well.
So if you want an epic BLT and a great drink. Give Blake's a try. It's definitely a destination site due to John's bacon creations.
