If you're in Packwood and you need, well, pretty much anything, Blanton's is pretty much the only option. That said, it's actually not bad, and we ended up stopping in here a couple of times during a long weekend trip.
Blanton's is a smallish supermarket with a bit of everything. It has a kind of old-fashioned, non-corporate feel that's sort of refreshing, right down to the large, kooky mural painted on the front wall outside the doors.
In addition to a decent produce section and the usual grocery staples, they have some local stuff like fudge, Mt. Rainier postcards, and this weird bulk-bin cookie case. It literally looks like they open up boxes of these off-brand sugar cookies and dump them into big plastic cubbies. Should be exciting for kids who want to mix-n-match a cookie assortment, but I'd think they would get a little stale...
Prices are a bit high, but what are you gonna do? You're stuck in the middle of nowhere, and the prices could actually be worse. If you're in Packwood or the area, it's a decent choice for whatever you forgot to bring.
Need groceries? Tough luck, Bub, because this is your only option for MILES. Sucks to not come prepared while camping!
This place (and every other store in Packwood) has ridiculous prices for the most basic of things. Pickles: $5.00. Two basic toothbrushes: $8.49. Meat was actually reasonably priced compared to what I pay for it in my own populated city, but still.
They had some pretty cool horse-themed greeting cards though, and the people who worked there are probably some of the friendliest grocery store clerks I've ever encountered.
I will be back, albeit begrudgingly. Next time, I'll bring my own pickles!
ALSO, no booze. Luckily there's a liquor store right next door or I'd have been a sad little girl.
