    Hi Paul and Rita,

I appreciate the message and concern. I posted a review (w/ a different account/last name) previously, and it has always been "filtered" out. Unfortunately, I do not know any of the specifics of the staff who were working when I was in. I get back to Marshfield about once every 3-4 years), so my reviews are few and far between. I found the staff at your establishment (bartender and servers) rude and unhelpful, and the salad I got was primarily iceberg lettuce. Nobody was friendly. I wish you the best of luck with your business; I know (from growing up there, especially) that Marshfield has had a dearth of decent restaurants.

Food was good, the service seemed lacking, especially for a Friday evening.

Being from out of town, learning the unique history of the building was interesting.  What I learned was directly from their newspaper menu.

Upon entering there was no one to great or seat us.   Someone came from the glass room where the beer is made and said someone will be right with us, we ended up seating ourselves at the bar.

Upon ordering our drinks there was a pink ring on our napkins, not sure what was on/in the glasses that would cause this but it definitely made us weary.

Most of the staff seemed to be high school/ college aged and the way they came off seemed as if they did not care.  No smiles no enthusiasm nothing.  The only individual that seemed pleasant was the older woman behind the bar who was very polite and helpful.  It seemed that there were never the same servers.  Every time a table needed something they were being helped by another server.

Our order was taken with the same blank stare as all of the others by a younger woman.  She did not write our order down or ask how we wanted our burgers, almost like we were bothering her by ordering.

The food was good.  Although there was only a small handful of waffle fries with each of our orders.

If I am ever in the area again I may give this place another try.  It's a very unique building and the menu seems to match, but again I think the staff is in need of some improvements.

I was in town from DC visiting with my boyfriends family. He and I decided we wanted a nice lunch out.  We went straight to the bar and we were greeted straight away. He opted to get a local beer and I got a rum and coke. He got the El Cubano which was warm crispy and just the right spice to pair with his beer. I ordered the Lynard Skinards(loved the name too much to pass them up). They were ok cheesy but not the total cheese I wanted. I loved the sour cream they were served with. The bloody Mary's looked awesome!!! Served with a mini burger and all types of other tasty snacks. I would order that if I ever went back. The bartender informed us they made the speciality vodka on the premises. Overall a great restaurant. I could totally see this place in DC or one of the cities in the suburbs.

People in Wisconsin like to drink...people in Marshfield like to feel a little class I guess. The limited selection of freshly brewed beers they have are all very good.

On our second night in Wisconsin, we ended up in Marshfield.  We were looking for a micro brewery or brew pub and found Blue Heron, which is the latter.  I chose "Hey Porter" and Ms T wanting the hoppiest, chose Hop Harvest Pale Ale.  Both beers were fine.  I have had better porters, I thought it seemed weak, not full flavored and not balanced.  Ms T wanted more than the 40 IBU that the Hop Harvest is rated.  I'm not sure why we didn't order her the Fanatic IPA.

We had an order of fried calamari, because we always do, when offered.  These were very good and came in a good sized serving.  They had corn meal batter which you don't find in St Louis.  We liked it, they were nicely done.

Ms T had a Shore Lunch sandwich, consisting of breaded walleye with toppings of lettuce and tomato.  It was a nice filet with a light coating and very mild flavors as you would expect from walleye.  It was a good sandwich and we loved the crinkle cut sweet potato fries that accompanied it.

My El Cubano Cuban sandwich was not a re-order.  The ham was flavorless.  The pork was dry and without flavor.  The overall impact of the sandwich was, dry.  It really needed the garlic aioli that came with it.  The sandwich was not served flattened as Cubans usually are, but was on a hoagie roll.  This was a weak offering and could use some inspiration.

Overall this is a decent place.  Neither the beers nor the food were stellar, but certainly you can find things on the menu that will be fine.  There are a lot of beers to sample as well, so I'm sure there are some we would like better.

Found this restaurant via recommendations from other yelpers. I was not disappointed. Thank you for the advice.  For anyone staying in Marshfield overnight at the Holiday Inn....it is right next door.

Blue Heron is a brew pub that serves all their own beers on tap.  They have a daily beer special priced at $2.50/pint, as well as a daily drink special.  I tried their Grapefruit IPA.  It was bitter, as would be expected, and had a hint of citrus.  It was not my favorite, but my opinion is just personal preference.

We ordered their 16" Roasted Chicken Pizza with Peach Bourbon sauce. It was fantatstic.  Crust was crispy, chicken chunks were overflowing and the peach bourbon sauce finger licking good.  Be careful...the pizza comes out piping hot and the sauce stays hot for a long time.

I'm lucky enough to work for a company that has a manufacturing plant in Marshfield, so there will be no debate the next time I am in town.  I'm going back to the Blue Heron.

I never would have survived my business trip to Marshfield, WI without yelp! I would like to thank my fellow yelpers that steered me in the direction of this place!!

The only thing that seems to exist in the area are dumpy chain restaurants, this place it truly a diamond in the rough!

The restaurant is on the lower level of a converted dairy factory and they have a lot of the memorabilia of the dairy hanging in the hallway where you walk in that really gives you a neat history of the place. They own the restaurant upstairs as well- West 14th. That is more "upscale." To me, the Blue heron is much better, I like the casual brewpub atmosphere.

You walk in and there are high ceilings, exposed brick, booths, a huge bar area, and you see all the brewing equipment where they brew their own beer! This place is pretty casual, seat yourself! My co-workers and I decided for a bar top table near the window. The place was pretty packed for a Wednesday (I think it was?) night. The menus were printed like a newspaper on "newspaper" paper which is a unique touch. Our waitress came over quickly and we asked for beer suggestions. She was a great help. All the beer on tap is brewed on site, so awesome! I tried the Grapefruit IPA which tasted magical after a long day in a margarine/butter factory! I really could get some grapefruit notes.

We ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer. They were sliced really thin and fried, I usually see the thicker cuts or spears, but now I think the thin slice is my new favorite! They came with a mustard and a ranch sauce and the ranch was my favorite, mustard was just OK.

My co-workers ordered the Elk burger and the pub sandwich. They both looked good and the fella that ordered the elk burger said it was a top ten burger of his life... lol.
I ordered the asian sesame chicken salad. It had a lot of flavor and just the right amount of heat. I washed it down with the Tiger's Eye (English mild ale) and that was better than the grapefruit IPA, really well rounded.

My experience at the Blue Heron pub was great, it is BY FAR the best restaurant in Marshfield. This place would do well in any city- they have great fresh brewed beer on tap, great service, and really flavorful but simple food. Next time I am here on business, I won't go anywhere else.

THE PUB! Just writing this review makes my mouth water thinking about it. "The Pub" is one of their signature sandwiches. It is a twisted version of a Philly cheesesteak. My recommendation is to get it with their sweet potato fries, for sure!
I am partial to the darker brew beers, and there is always one of their handcrafted on tap that suits my tastes (don't be afraid to ask for a small sample before you order one, or be bold and get yourself the beer sampler).
If you get lucky, you will get Kayla or Kaitlin as a waitress...their entire staff is awesome, but these two are my favorites :-)

I always get my growler filled with root beer when I go there! ...but that's about as good as it gets. The burgers are terrible...I ordered a medium burger and it came to me gray and stale looking. Was really dried out. and I couldn't finish it. My bacon was super extra crispy and blackened... The fries were fabulous though.  My mom had ordered a wrap and it was literally dripping with sauce...she had to scrape alot of it off to kill some of the taste -- the sauce was overkill.

Alright service, good beer selection, great food options with great  sandwich names, however some of our food was dry, bland, and some flavors shouldn't be mixed.

Let me first say we didn't try the beer.  Maybe that would have altered my rating.  First the place stunk.  Literally - like they had some kind of sewer issues.  My kids were getting quesy waiting for our food.  Used the rest rooms and they smelled better than the dining room so I don't know what the deal was.  Food and service mediocre at best.  Burger menu looks great and you are allowed to order how you want it cooked.  But when it came to the table it was obviously frozen patty and although ordered med rare it was grey all the way through.  Not a good juicy hand packed 1/2 lbr! that you expect at  a brew pub.  We all started with the clam chowder special and the soup had lots of clams, real skin on potatoes a good consistancy but some kind of spice that overwhelmed the taste of everthing in it.  Dried basil I think and LOTS of it.  Portobello mush burger just mush and cheese on HUGE hogie bun - How about some sauteed onions and peppers - all bun little filling. Same for the steak sandwich ordered.

All in all would have skipped it but staying at the Holiday Inn it appeared go there or the place across the stree "Nuts Deep" I'm not even kidding.  Classy Marshfield -great impression

Second visit was in December.  The place definitely delivered again.  High quality beer.  Impressed again!

Nice place - very clean - great beer.  I had a cajun pasta dish and asked for it spicy - unfortunately this just seemed to mean they tossed a pile of crushed red pepper into the dish.  I'll know better next time.

No Five star from me.  Even though every time I come back home I go to the pub.  Consistency has been lacking the last few times I have gone, but it still is a terrific place, with a great atmosphere and very good food.  The beer is a work in progress, but it is slowly getting better.

"Woohoo! As good as it gets!", in Marshfield. My parents happen to live in this place, well almost... Good beer and good food.  Some may call this typical bar food, but compared to Nutz Deep and all other bars in Marsh, it is practically high-brow French cuisine.  Their sweet potato fries and fried pickles are rockin'.  My mom has already told the world that the Chuck Norris pizza is to die for.

This place is beautiful and one of a kind.  You will get great food at a decent price.

Fried pickles.  OMG, the fried pickles.  Blue Heron serves the typical bar food, but with a few standouts.  The fried pickles are one of them.

Blue Heron is noisy.  It has the standard open warehouse feel that makes sound echo off the walls and floor and ceiling.  During Happy Hour, it's impossible to have a conversation with the person sitting next to you.  By the time you leave you're nearly hoarse.

With that said, though:  The food is good -- the cranberry salmon salad is unusual but works with those disparate flavors.  The Hawaiian pizza is stellar. They've added mangoes to the pizza in addition to the usual pineapple. That little extra is enough to take this pizza to the next level of wow flavor even without the asiago cheese and red peppers.

I haven't even mentioned the craft beers, but it's tough to find a local craft beer that doesn't taste good when it's cold and served with pizza.

    Food: four stars
    Beer: five stars
    Service: three stars
    Ambiance: four stars

I've been here while in town on business, and liked it enough to return. It's worth visiting for the beer alone (try the Loch Ness Scotch Ale, it will make you dizzy and joyful). However, they have more to offer, as the food is very good, I've had a sandwich (the Cuban) and a dinner special (Pistachio encrusted Waleye) and was very pleased with both. The service was not bad, but it was not good. It was slow, but friendly. The decor, and general vibe of the place is great, it makes you want to hang around for a while, which makes the slower service not seem so bad.

Nice location on Main St. in Marshfield in a old, warehouse-type fire hall building.  Their beer is tasty too however I was a bit thrown off by how much a growler fill up was.  I've never had their food, but I heard it's delicious.

I met a couple of girlfriends at the Blue Heron BrewPub for dinner while I was in town last week.  The food was excellent!  We ordered the bruchetta and pecan-encrusted brie for appetizers - they were both delicious!

For dinner, I ordered the portabella sandwich with a cup of french onion soup (instead of fries - even though they do offer sweet potatoe fries), which were also very good!  Since the appetizers were so large for 3 people, I only ate half of my sandwich.  My friends ordered the "The Pub" sandwich and a burger.  They both said their entrees were excellent!

I did not try any of their microbrews, as I'm not a huge fan - but they do offer a full bar.

The service was prompt, food was served in a timely manner and everything was hot.  It's a casual place to meet friends and enjoy a good meal.  Tough to get to right now with all of the construction on Central Avenue, but worth the detour!!

Went to the Blue Heron BrewPub with a group of 4 for lunch.  New owner, new name.

We started out with bruschetta which was topped with shredded cheese melted on top and spinach leaves in the middle of the plate.  It was very good.

We ordered the sampler platter of beer, which allows you to pick 6 of their 10'ish beers on tap.  Most of the beers had great flavor, but there was one that everyone in my party commented that it tasted like water (it had no flavor to it).

Our service was prompt and polite.  We all ordered salads, which were all very well prepared and presented.  They also offer tradition brew pub meals, fish and chips, burgers, chicken...

Typical brewpub look, with a view of the tanks behind the bar.

My only suggestion is to upgrade the 20" old school CRT tvs to LCD's, improve the acoustics (it is super loud and you can here the bartenders whisper from 75 feet away and around the corner  and think about offering free wifi (helps me to yelp on the go!).

If I were ever to move back to Marshfield, WI, this business would be the sole reason why. Any time I come back to visit, I immediately stop back here ASAP. While it can get quite noisy at times, that is to be expected from any popular pub/restaurant.  The renovated warehouse look is excellent and the staff are typically very helpful. Their fried pickles are a must-order appetizer.  The smoked mozzarella ravioli is also one of those meals I order 75% of the time I go here because it is spot on to my tastes and simply delicious. But, honestly, the main attraction here is Central Waters outstanding line of beers.  The fermenting tanks are visible from anywhere in the restaurant through huge panes of glass behind the bar. Beer offerings you are served at this brewpub are always as fresh as possible.  If you are lucky enough to visit them during this time of the year (winter) when its available, do whatever it takes to get a glass of their bourbon barrel stout. After sampling probably hundreds of beer selections over the years, Central Waters' bourbon barrel stout is PERMANENTLY cemented into my top 3 favorite beers of all time list.  They always have a revolving, wide selection of beers available and always have something on tap for any beer lover to enjoy, regardless of tastes.  Central Waters also has a quieter upstairs restaurant area away from the pub/bar area if you prefer a more subdued experience.  All-in-all, if this establishment was uprooted and transplanted back into Philadelphia where I now live, I have no doubts it would receive so much praise and customer traffic that they would need to expand exponentially to meet demand. Put up against my other favorite brewpub, Dogfish Head's restaurant in Delaware, Central Waters brewpub still beats them handily... and that's coming from a small, relatively unknown central Wisconsin company. 5 stars without a doubt.

This place is fun.  Good beers and good food.  Even the salads are good!  Agree with the excellent review of the sweet potato fries.  Can get a little loud in the bar when it's busy and service can be a little slow then, but overall this is still a great place.  Great place to meet a group or take visitors.  Highly recommended.

Great atmosphere, great food, great beer.  Try the sweet potatoe fries - my favorite.  The El Cubano is awesome, as is the BLT.  A must-stop if you're in Marshfield.  Try West 14th, located right above the brewpub, for a more upscale dining experience.
