Quaint in a small town, excellent soft fried shrimp - that is Louisiana fried, not Alabamafried.  Seasoned, and large portions.

One of the few sit-down restaurants in the Bayou. I've been there once and will probably go back again if I had no other choice (few food options in Bayou). The decor is outdated. Staff is ok. Good was ok. Had the reuben sandwich. Pretty big for the price but plain tasting. There is this strong odor from the front counter. Mix between heavy cleaning solution and cooked food. Made me and my friends lose our appetite alittle. Most definitely a last resort eat place in the Bayou.

I have looked at the billboard everytime I pump gas advertising this famous "Bayou Tater" and I kept conviencing myself that it can't be "all that".

Today in the little local paper they had a coupon for $2.00 off of this house
specialty. So, not wanting to waste the paper they used to make the coupon I went to try it out.

It is just as advertised a little cute cafe nothing fancy but clean and decorated with the "fresh catch " theme.

They were starting to get busy, we found a seat and we ordered I got the Bayou Potato my son got the Ham and cheese Panni and my nephew got the Bayou Patato as well. (to go)

I was afraid that I waited too long to try it, you know how you keep seeing something and you keep saying you are gonna try something and it builds up the anticipation and then when you try it, it dissapopints.

When it arrives you could cleary see the shrimp and crawfish and they sprinkles red season salt over the plate making it look very special the extra time the cook took with the preperation makes it obvious she/he was proud of thier work.

Having a chef as a father and being one myself I have high standards, I hate when people cook with cheap ingredients. I can taste the difference between freeze dried onions versus fresh ,butter vs margine and so forth.

First bite, the crawfish is sweet and cooked to prefection, they used real butter and the sauce was made fresh or at least fresh that day all this is apparent from the first bite.

I was so relieved that it lived up to my expectations and was as good as I thought it would be. my son said his sandwhich was just as good but I doubt it .

I love this place and I will be back. The only thing I did not like was the lack of enough staff to serve the customers. our server was visably tired and very cranky I begged for lemon for my tea to which she blantantly ignore after I asked 4 times. the other server brought me some and as soon as I got the combination right the other server, topped me of so I requested more lemon. The orinal girl then brought me lemon and issued a half hearted "sorry" I was not put off by the server "attitude' since, I was a server for my father's restuarant and I know how being on your feet all day will drain the joy from your day.  since this is the south people are gonna expect servers especially to be "as sweet as molasses"  but she seemed like a nice person who was having a "off" day.

From now on Fridays, I will pick up my Bayou Tater "to go" like my nephew did. (only half of his potato made it home lol) They have a lot of different things on the menu but I PROBABLY will not try anything else since I tend to get stuck in ruts once I find a dish I really like.
