On our trip to Florida, my husband and I happened upon Bluegrass Restaurant, as we were winding our way through SW Kentucky. Â It looked like a cool place and I love the ubiquitous "hole in the wall". Â Well, the aroma was awesome from the moment you walked in, the staff was exceedingly pleasant and it was obvious all the guests knew each other!
But we didn't go there to socialize - we went to eat! Â They are known for their catfish and we that's what we ordered. Â I was also introduced to the catfish "fiddler", which is the entire fish. Â This was, without a doubt, some of THE *BEST* CATFISH I'VE EVER EATEN!!!! Â The breading was exquisite, the fish was cooked perfectly and was incredibly moist. Â It was absolutely outstanding!!! Â And I LOVE eating the whole fish, of course making sure not to swallow the bones!
We loved it so much, we went back on our return trip to Kansas City. Â It was even better the second time! Â We had the frog legs, which were to die for. Â And we were also visited by the owner, who is incredibly nice!!! Â The Bluegrass Restaurant is well worth the visit! Â You won't regret it!!!
My girlfriend's family and I found this place on Yelp while driving from Nashville airport to Grand Rivers, Kentucky.
Not much to look at from the outside, and when you walk in you realize that smoking in restaurants is still permitted in the State of Kentucky. But it got better quickly...
The wait staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, and the menu selections were pretty varied. My girlfriend ordered the catfish - said it was the best catfish she ever had. I ordered the fried chicken -- was warned it would take at least 20 minutes. Suffice to say it was well worth the wait...chicken was piping hot and fresh with a crispy, thin coating. And all at fast food prices.
If you happen to be hungry and passing through Eddyville, KY, give the Bluegrass Grill a try...I don't think you'll be disappointed.
