Blues Bayou

In the pre-Yelp days I maintained a personal journal of memorable dining stops.  Blues Bayou (or its same-location predecessor) remains memorable as an oasis in an area where finding credible fast food was a challenge.  The music was great, and appreciating blues, the geographic lineage to "King Biscuit Time" was particularly special.  I'll also remember this being the place where I first really enjoyed fried catfish; it wasn't the rank, muddy tasting fish I had previously eaten.  Folks in this area are often a bit cold toward outsiders, so there was no surprise.  There seems to be an inexplicable difference in attitude when crossing the Mississippi River.  The Blues Bayou experience was, however, an enjoyable one.

This restaurant is really fun. It also serves as a Blues club, and the performances can be really fun. As a dining establishment, the food is really great. The menu has a wide variety of items, including items such as steaks, shrimp, and alligator. Also, their salad bar is to die for. I recommend the grilled shrimp dinner. The only thing that needs improvement and which causes this review to hold a 3 star rating is the service. This restaurant is still relatively new and has a lot of kinks to still work out.
