Need lunch to go? Head on back to the deli section at Corner Market, but be prepared to wait for a few minutes if it's lunch hour on a weekday. Â Multiple lines usually form into the grocery aisles, but this is the Delta- people are polite, even when it's not always clear who is next in line. Â While you wait, browse the deli case and marvel at the ingredients for souse.
Sandwiches are a popular choice at the deli counter; I recommend the turkey panini. Choose your bread, take or leave mayonnaise and cheese depending on your taste, but do not skip the roasted red peppers or secret sauce (all we know is that it has something to do with sun dried tomatoes). The end product is perfectly toasted and tangy. Â Grab a few napkins, though- the sauce can get a little drippy after a few bites.
Otherwise, you can pick from any number of sandwich choices or go for the hot buffet and leave with a meat and three. Â Drinks, chips, and desserts come in your standard convenience store sizes as well as some larger sizes. Â Fountain drink purists can also fill up at the front. Â While the grocery section hardly competes with the larger outfits in town, Corner Market stocks a decent selection of basic goods.
The owners and employees are friendly and energetic- they will get you in and out as quickly and graciously as they can. Â Stroll out the screen door feeling good about picking up delicious food from a local, family-owned business.
Note: Corner Market is carryout only; they do not have a seating area.
