  8/9/13 We rode into Monticello and came across the Boar's Nest.  It's been in business for 50 years according to the stepson of the owner Gerri (deceased).  The son's wife was bartending.  His wonderful elderly mother and current owner were at the bar with good friends.  They had free popcorn and a jukebox full of country and rock classics.  Okay, it's not "fancy", but the hardwood floor and bar made the place cozy.  They're only open Friday and Saturdays.  Their can beers were Old Style, Bud, Bud Light and their bottle selection was Blatz, but when in Rome or Monticello just roll with it.  For a $1 a Blatz why complain, right?  On 9/14/13 (Saturday) they are going to celebrate their 50 year milestone with FREE beer, accordion music, yodeling, and a well known local musician later in the  evening.  We hope to be there!
