Can't find much good to say about this place. Dirty, terriblly slow service and  the wait staff were all pretty scruffy and dressed in clothes I wouldn't mow my lawn in....
I had chicken fried steak. Huge portions but very salty. Fish and Chips OK.
Surely there is something better in this town.

We found out the the restaurant is is under new management and decided to give a third chance! Im not sure if I am more happy or shocked at the complete 360 in the quality of food & service. I ordered jalepeno puffs, salad, & ribs for dinner. We were a party of five and every one was very satisfied with the food and the service. If You have ever eaten here before you know the location is a gem on the lake! Its difficult to find a place in this area that has decent food and to find one with good food, service and lakefront dining is all the reason to break the bar and give six stars. There is no one restaurant that is perfect but these guys come the closest to anything in the area! Thank You guys for the effort!

If you're looking for a dive bar with pretty good food..you've found your place! Fish n chips, french dip, and beer battered prawns all good. Started with a good sized tasty salad with all the fixings included in the entree price (14.50, 10.50, 14.50). Don't expect a long wine list...

Friends of Tony and Peggy at Featherbed Railroad! It was recommended for a quick bite to eat and we were pleasantly surprised! If I am in the area, we will eat there again!

OMG, this place has improved so much it is amazing.  We got there too early for dinner so I thought the ribs were going to be small.  I ordered them and calamari with tiny side salads.  Mistake in a stupendous way, as the ribs were huge and the calamari was too die for darlin'.  My hubby ordered the "killer French dip"  and it was but the surprise was the fries.  Totally crispy fabulousness, so I found myself stealing them from his plate.  We at a meal for three for $27 with tax.  PERFECT...  I will come back for dinner to give it a five, to make sure every thing is on the up and up.  Whoever made the changes, did good, grand, great...:)

Ok, I want to really like this place, but I only "sort" of like it.  It's a great local bar with a nice nortalgic and small-town feel to it.  The live band music was awesome and that gives you a unique experience.

Now, the food.  So, I read that the fish and chips were good so I ordered it.  It was ok, but one of them were still frozen inside.  That was disappointing.  The french fries were good - nice, flavorful thin-cut fries.  My wife ordered a salad and there was nothing special about them.  My biggest gripe is the wait.  The food took a long time and i wouldn't have minded if they got it right but when I finally got my food and to learn that it was still frozen inside, I was done.  Also, for the price, I thought it would be either better quality or quantity and it was neither.  The service was ok, but it was mediocre, at best.  Will I go back? probably not.

Our server was very nice. Group of 16 (with reservations) and we sat outside with a beautiful view of the lake. Wooden tables with bird droppings, (someone eventually came out and wiped them off). Kitchen needs a "manager". Several dinners were not as ordered. I was first to order. Four of the people around me, received their dinners and were done eating and my order of ribs was not ready. I finally canceled. The fellow across from me ordered a Turkey sandwich. Approximately 5 to 10 minutes after I canceled, he was told "they were out of Turkey"!  Not a place I would recomend.

While staying at Featherbed Railroad B&B we found this place to be a short walk down the road.  The bar area has a very nice view of the lake, although we did sit in the restaurant so didn't have the view.  They did have sports on their TV's, both baseball and basketball.

We  both ordered the killer french dip and it was the best French Dip sandwich I have ever tasted.  Service was very good.  Drinks from the bar were a leaner.  A Bombay Sapphire martini tasted watered down and the wine was not very good, maybe opened too long.  The margarita was very good.

I would be sure to return here if given the chance and for sure recommend it to those staying at the close by, awesome Featherbed Railroad.

Lets be honest, this is a divey bar/restaurant. They do smoke their own meat and have yummy food, which is a plus. The view of the lake is gorgeous but unless its summer or a warm day outside, this place loses its advantage...quickly.

However,  if you're looking for some entertainment from the locals, you're in luck! This is definitely where the neighbs belly up during the day and stay for hours playing the lottery and other random games they have going among themselves.

Prices are low, which is a nice change from the city, but thats to be expected in a small town. The staff was nice but not too quick with the food service so don't go if you're in a rush. If its a nice day and you want to sit outside by the lake, then the Boathouse could be your spot.

Sean and I thoroughly enjoyed dining on the patio area.  The service was great!  We had a new server, and she went above and beyond.  The scenery was great.  We both ordered burgers, and I had a large glass of wine, while sean had a couple beers.  Price was 36 dollars.  Can't beat that!

Let's face it,  this place shines.  I live in SF and frequent Nice for several reasons.  1)  It's got the best views
of the lake. 2) It has cute places like the Boathouse Bar.  I liked the set-up enough to buy a cottage up there.  The drinks are fair priced, the staff is easy-going and the lake is in the backyard--- what more do you want????

We went there a couple of years ago and the service - what service.  We were seated outside and forgotten.  The reason I was given was that their cook had just been killed on the highway.  My condolences but close your restaurant for the day or have other servers help the ones that are in mourning.  Then I called the owner regarding the situation and he said to come back the next time we were in town and he would take care of us.  Right! Never happened and no one know anything about it and the owner was unavailable by phone or person.  Not worth my time to waste.  There are other restaurants in the lake county area.

this is an OK spot  if your going to eat better if you are there with out kids so you can sit outside in the bar section. inside there is mismatched furniture old tables but still a friendly warm feeling. portions are huge for your dollars. its good dive bar food with killer cocktails. You can eat and drink outside with a beautiful view of the lake.  Bathrooms  unfortunately are pretty bad better off using the lake. Staff are very friendly and kept our cups filled.

We stopped in for lunch at the recommendation of the manager at the World Mark.  The food was original and spectacular and the owners were so friendly.  Be sure and try the lamburger.  Yummy!!!

I spent Labor Day weekend at the lake, and I would have never come to this joint if it hadn't been stumbling distance from where we were staying. I went here three times in one weekend, and it was pretty consist ant.

The outdoor patio is great, with views of the lake and plenty of seating. They even had some live music while we were there...granted it was a one man band, it was still some sort of entertainment.

The drinks are stiff and cheap. I ordered the french dip sandwich with green chile peppers, and it was decent. It filled my stomach with meat and carbs, a necessity for Labor Day weekend.

Situated on the lake and providing access by both land and water, the Boathouse is a decent place to eat when spending the day on the lake.

The Boathouse conveniently provides docking space for your boat and access to the restaurant from the lake side. This makes it a great spot to come for lunch after a morning of boarding or skiing.

The food is comparable to typical dive bars, serving up tasty burgers and the standard accoutrement of fried appetizers. They do have a full bar, so one is not limited to simply beer and wine.

During this most recent trip, I started with the calamari appetizer. The Boathouse is unique in the fact that they serve huge calamari steaks instead of the tiny rings and tentacles that one would expect. The calamari steak is battered and fried until golden brown and delicious. The meat was tender and not chewy.

For my entree, I ordered the patty melt. My burger was cooked perfectly medium and served on buttery crisp rye bread with grilled onions, swiss cheese and thousand island dressing. They also offer another burger with a peppercorn crusted burger patty that looked good. I had requested the peppercorn crusted patty on my patty melt and the staff was happy to oblige.

Although it's simply normal bar and grill food without any frills, the Boathouse hits the spot after a long day on the lake.

It is a local bar and grill.

The burgers and fish & chips here are great and you have a view of the lake with outside seating. The food is pretty affordable. I think local bands play here on weekends.

2 stars taken away for serving iced tea in 10oz styrofoam cup as my friends consider me a tree-hugger.
