Every once in awhile I go here with my dad when I'm in town. Â It's a family run place with nice staff and good selection. Â Big menu (stereotypical diner fare) to choose from, but I always stick to my boring healthy breakfast and loads of the coffee :). Â
No complaints    Â
Except lol ....Sometimes this random old guy gives me a dollar and tells me to "spend it wisely"...he thinks I'm like 12 haha (thanks to my very put together 7 am Saturday morning-just rolled out of bed face).
The staff was very friendly!!! The breakfast felt close to home. Very simple style of food which I love!!! The decor is exploding with FAMILY OWNED aura. I ate a breakfast meal(scrambled eggs with cheese, toast, hashbrowns, turk. sausage, OJ) The eggs were cooked to perfection! I would definetly go back.
Review Source:After driving forever around Waukegen looking for a place to eat before our show at genesee theatre- we FINALLY came across a restaurant that wasnt A) A pizza buffett and B) a taco place. Â I was overjoyed with the selection of the menu and LOVED the fact that I was ablte to get breakfast at 7pm! Overall its your typical greek style diner: cheesy decor. kinda old lookin. There was a very mixed crowd (great place for people watchers). I could have stared all day at the big ol man in overalls! Service was decent and food was surprisingly good. What kinda threw me off was the menu. It was pretty dirty looking (dont they wipe those things off? And the hand written portion looked like its been there for years. Overall, much better then I expected. Will definietly go again if I absolutely was crunched on time and in waukegan (hopefully never am b/c that town sucks!)
Review Source:I love diners. I love their food, I love their coffee, I love their pie display case by the register, I love EVERYTHING about diners, seriously.
Bob and Anne's was great. My friends and I went here after camping at Illinois Beach State Park on our way back to the city. I got the Denver skillet and it was SO good. There was a ton of food for less than 7 bucks! My friends all enjoyed their meals as well (breakfast sandwich, veggie skillet, and eggs and french toast) although we found it odd that the breakfast sandwich came with a pickle and coleslaw like any other sandwich would...huh. I was intrigued by the bacon waffles on the menu, but needed eggs for my hangover meal, so I skipped them. Maybe if we go camping again I can try them out.
It was a bit wierd how fast we got out check- there was no asking if we wanted anything else (we realized after we ordered our food that we forgot to order things like juice, etc) but our waitress was good at checking in after and refilled our coffees a few more times.
Also, I should have gotten pie. Had I not been crammed in a tiny car full of camping equipment, i would have gotten some. It looked SOOOO good.
This place has its hits and its misses, and honestly there was a time when I would have avoided it like a root canal and given it negative stars just because all the jackasses from the drama club at my high school made it their HQ. Â However, I am not in high school anymore, and unlike many of those jackasses, I no longer live with my parents or wear the same leather jacket and bad hairstyle, so I will try to be a little more objective.
The food, decor, and service are pretty standard family style restaurant quality. Â Breakfasts are pretty decent, and the quality of the pickles are much better than they were ten years ago, they actually taste like a pickle and not cucumber dipped in vinegar once. Thumbs up on that one, Bob & Anne's. Â
I came here with my ex's mother the other day (a story for a therapist and not Yelp, probably) because it's near my new job and her house, which is right across the street from my new job (just racked up another thousand dollars at therapy). Â We had a good time, and it's decent and close, but if I were picking a place, I'd probably go to one of the other similar places in the area.
PS- Once they yelled at me for sitting across the booth like it was my couch, which I guess is fine, but I didn't even have my feet on it, and they didn't have to be so mean about it. Â Ok, maybe I am still in high school.
I have eaten here a couple of times and that was enough for me to learn not to try a third time. Â While I typically dont order steak sandwiches I did this time and it was the toughest piece of meat I have ever had, the bun was destroyed after the first bite. Â I did have a friend tell me that it is only good for breakfast, which was decent (just dont order the steak and eggs) enough but there are better options around. Â Not a fan.
Review Source:My parents like to go here after a day of sailing. It's close to Waukegan harbor so that's a plus. It's your typical diner. They serve breakfast all day, my mom loves their omelets. I had a bacon cheeseburger...definitely skip this one, it was way too dry. Our waitress was cute and funny. Overall, it was an average diner experience.
