Pretty much what I expected.  We were traveling from Glacier Park back to Oregon and staying at the Deschutes Recreational State Park for the night.  It is a truck stop, combined with a bar.  This was pretty much the only place in the area that was open on the 4th of July.  Do not come here with high expectations as you will be disappointed.  After camping for a week, it was good to just finally have someone else cook for us.  As for the person who thought the codoms in the bathroom was a bad thing...get over yourself!  You apparently are a republican and don't believe in a thing called "planned parenthood".

I'm voting 5 stars not because of stellar food so much, but for the convenience, attitude, and just "roadside comfort" of Bob's.  The food actually is excellent - think Truck Stop comfort food.  If it weren't good, they'd be gone ages ago like so many other cafes along Highway 84.

I stop here every time I pass this way - it's nicely located midway between Portland and the Tri-Cities on 84 - makes for a great coffee/food/pitstop along the way.  The service is ALWAYS friendly - I am always in business clothes, but they don't treat me like a "city slicker" like a lot of fairly rural places would.  They treat me like a local, every time.  Fast, friendly, "what would you like, hun?" service.  I've never had a meal here I didn't like....

So if you're reading this, flying down I-84 Eastbound or Westbound, take the time to pull off and take a break.  You really will enjoy your time and food here as I have for years.

And if you happen to see a copy of "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy" sitting on the counter, well it's mine - left it there by mistake today but I was already in Kennewick before I noticed it gone.... maybe it'll stay there and be passed around!!  Great book, left in a great "roadside attraction" restaurant that i'll keep eating at as long as it's there.

This place was unbelievable. The first thing we noticed was the big sign that said a glass of water costs $1.50. Then we found out that all salad bar choices (there are two sizes) were ONCE-THRU only. While we waited for our food, I visited the restroom and discovered a prominently displayed condom machine. My wife confirmed the women's restroom had one, too.

NOT family friendly, not customer friendly. The food was OK but by the time it arrived we had already wished we hadn't stopped here. Sadly, we drove less than 10 miles after we left before we found a nest of restaurants in the next town.

    Lesson learned.
