My fellow Yelpers! This review is a classic, Dinners, Drive-ins and Dives. As one makes his or her journey between Bend, Oregon and Spokane, Washington, you have to traverse multiple towns and highways to get to your destination. You take I97 North to I84 East to I395 North through Tri-Cities to I90 East to Spokane, but what some people may not know is there is a short cut that takes you through Wasco, Oregon through the farm fields then drops you down to the Columbia River to a one-horse town called Rufus, Oregon which shaves about 15 minutes off your journey. This is an important tip because it takes about three hours just to get to Rufus from Bend which still leaves you with more than half the trip to go. When entering Rufus, there is a dive called The Family Market & Deli which from the outside looks sketchy at best and not surprisingly from the inside as well. But here is the catch, The Family Market & Deli has great chicken strips and fries, amazing hamburgers and BLT's, not to mention milk shakes. They have everything you would expect from a micro town on the side of the highway in the middle of nowhere! They are my go-to stop for eats on the way to Spokane. Thank you Family Market & Deli for being a great part of my extended community.
P.S. I have been stopping at the The Family Market & Deli for years with my family, mother and mother in law. It is a really good place to eat.
