    A fine place for a little food and drink. They offer various specials and happy hours.
    All of the food is prepared with unique spices - reflective of the name Bombay!

    The chicken meatballs are nice. The bloody mary is a meal in and of itself.

    I came here with my mom for lunch...she was craving a good burger and we heard that bombay has great burgers.  I would agree, our burgers were delicious!  I had their basic burger with bacon and avocado and we shared the onion rings.  All was delicious!

    As for the service...worst service I have ever had.  We sat ourselves on the patio, know one greeted us, the waitress just kept walking by us as if we were invisible...I had to get up and get menus from the inside bartender and ask him to send a waitress out to us...about 10 min later a waitress finally showed up, we ordered lemonade...5 min later still no lemonade...my mom went inside to the bartender and got our drinks...10 min later the waitress show up to our table and never apologized for not bringing our drinks.  She took our food order, the food came out pretty quickly by a different waiter, our drinks were empty by then...so my mom got up again and had the bartender refill our drinks...still no waiter...we order the fried pickles as I am from the south and love fried pickles...we never go our friend pickles...ever...We finished our burgers and onion rings...and then after they took our empty plates away did the waitress bring our fried pickles, she once again didn't apologies.  The fried pickles were gross!  Not anything I have had before, they are covered in panko breadcrumbs and the sauce is blah.  The waitress come back and notices we didn't eat our fried pickles...weird, maybe because we were already done with our meals...that was suppose to be an appetizer...not a dessert.  She asked if we like the pickles and I said no we did not, so she then says oh then I'll take them off the bill... Well, yeah you should've taken them off the bill anyway since we didn't receive them until after our meal was finished besides the fact that they tasted horrible.

    So like I said---burger and onion rings great.
    Fried pickles gross!
    Service horrible.

    Would I go back...no because the service was too painful and I can get a great burger next store at The Habit and the service is self service there and I won't have to spend $12 on just a burger.

    Wed. nights here are FUN! There's a great blues band and it's a great people watching place. Everyone dances with everyone. I don't know if the food is good but the drinks, service and the music are worth it!
    I saw people from their 20's to their 70's having a blast!

    I went here to support a local band. There were bands playing in the front and there was a back room where it was kinda like a club with old school hip hop music so that was interesting. Didnt think I'd go support local rock bands and see a hip hop room in the back.

    They only serve tacos and burritos at night. I was there after 10pm. The tacos were amazing! The drinks seemed reasonably priced compared to what I'm use to in LA. Love Ventura County :)

    Where to start, came in @ 3pm not busy at all. Ordered a couple burgers & fries, burgers get dropped off no fries. Asked what kind of fries we wanted again, get fries half way thru meal. Never asked how I wanted my burger cooked, the default I guess is rare (super rare) and super salty. Fries super salty as well. Ordered a coke for a toddler, $3!!!!! Never offered a refill nothing. I think this place could be good but maybe it was an off day. Will I be coming back probably not! If you messed up at least give us the tiny little glass of coke to us for free!!

    **further update** My mistake and apology.  As Diego states (from my tip that day) it was in fact a CROWN ROYAL and Coke that I had ordered.  Thanks for clearing that up Diego.  And thanks for NOT responding to my private message to you about this earlier and instead letting this all play out on yelp for everyone to see.  Big points for transparency!
    And to anyone reading this conversation between myself and the owner of this establishment (which could totally have been avoided):  If you think that $9 is the right price for a crown royal and coke, and you think this is a good way to conduct business when a customer feels slighted - by all means, head down to Bombay Bar and Grill.  It's the place for you.

    **update**  if you'll notice from the owner comment below - confirmation that we were severely overcharged for our "drinks".  Contrary to the comment, superbowl/happy hour prices were not being honored that day. (I should post our receipt...)  No offer to clear up confusion. No offer to make things right.  No apologies. Just proof that we were jipped.  And proof that bombay cares absolutely nothing about their patron's experiences.

    I would not recommend this place to anyone. Your better off going to in n out and saving Money. They are trying go be way different from other burger joints.I got the Turkey Burger and cajun sweet potato fries. Turkey was mushy and the pesto sauce did not go well with the entire Burger. The Cajun sweet potato fries were basically all Cajun seasoning. Way to much sodium!  The service was not that great either.

    I've always liked this joint for the free gigs but once they added to burger menu I have another reason to come here all the time. Also the truffle fries are amazing, my boyfriend and I were fighting for the last bite.

    Lots of good times here. The free water and coffee was great since I was always the DD. The atmoshphere is great on a saturday night but the music never changed.

    Dear Mr. Dj,
    there is nothing wrong with changing up the playlist, as a matter of fact it is encouraged.

    In the front of the house they have the house band and they are amazing. They always cover the right songs everytime, never a dull moment.

    Exquisite gourmet burgers with a mind-blowing assortment of made-from-scratch condiments. The sweet potato fries and the garlic-truffle fries are reason enough to go. Adore the Upstream--a juicy salmon burger. Crazy about the tobacco onions--crunchy and decadent nest of deep-fried-crispy onions to knock your burger into the stratosphere. The fire-roasted pepper ketchup alone had me at first bite. Award-winning chef Andy Brooks has worked his multi-star high-end food magic on Bombay and made it a delight for foodies.

    Bombay has always been a hotspot for nightlife, but now it's a hotspot for foodie life too and our little foodie family could not be more thrilled. Thanks, Bombay, for making this fine upgrade and for putting our little town on the culinary map. Now, where is Guy Fieri and his Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives to come give Bombay a taste-see?!?

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Note as of 03/15/2013: Ventura friends, if you haven't been by the Bombay Bar & Grill to try their absolutely scrumptious gourmet burger menu, then drop everything and head on over. New items include the finest chicken-burger in the Solar System. Get this, award-winning chef Andy Brooks has crafted a freshly ground in-house chicken patty, topped with a roasted made-from-scratch chili relleno, and that topped with his house-made tangy piri-piri sauce. Truly a taste sensation! Hubs and I ordered one Angus burger (the Steakhouse is supremely great with caramelized onions, Bleu cheese and Portobello mushrooms) and one SoCal Lovebird burger and we each got half--a fun way to go. Add in an order of sweet potato fries (sprinkled with smoked paprika) and dipped in their signature chi-chi sauce--heavenly doesn't begin to describe it.
    Not impressed with the breakfast burger, there are better choices in the area.  Homemade red pepper roasted ketchup, chive ranch dressing, fries, and onion rings were a-ok with my taste buds.  Good orange and lemon ice waters.
    After hearing about Andy Brooks' new burger bar at Bombay's, we were really excited to try it. Last week, my boyfriend and I decided we would give it a go. The food was great, as was the service. We were very impressed. We thought it was a nice touch that Andy himself was at the restaurant, overseeing his kitchen and conversing with the customers.
    As avid lovers of the once fine dining restaurant Brooks, we were excited to bring our friends. We went in tonight and unfortunately, our experience was a complete 180 from what it was last week.
    We sat down and my boyfriend asked what I wanted to drink. At that same moment the server had walked up. As I was fishing through my wallet for my ID (I always get it out before asked because I look young) the server was very rude and abrupt in saying "yeah, I'm definitely going to need to see ID." Which as a server myself, I understand needing to ask, but there is a polite way to do so. After my boyfriend and I ordered our beverages, his 18 year old sister asked for an Arnold Palmer and the server replied, "Arnold Palmer, we don't have lemonade," With no apology and in the same abrupt and rude tone.
    This was only the start. After we received our drinks, we began to order. My boyfriend asked for the Bombay Burger ($8) and wanted to add fried egg and bacon ($1 each). The server suggested he get the Beach Breakfast ($10) because it already came with egg and bacon. However, it didn't have the mixed baby greens and caramelized onions like the Bombay Burger. He asked to add those (another $2) making his "perfect" burger $12 when it should have only been $10. Again, as a server, she should have realized this and charged him the lower price.
    As for my burger - I ordered the garden burger which is made from black beans and rolled oats. She asked which bun I would like and I said the brioche. When it arrived, it was on a whole wheat bun and didn't have the Swiss cheese that was in the description on the menu. The patty itself tasted similar to a tamale.
    My boyfriend's sister got a Turkey burger that was way over cooked. Our other friend got the Nacho Burger. The sauce was gritty and cold. Almost immediately, we realized we did not receive our order of sweet potato fries. The server took forever to come check on us and we finally had to wave her down to tell her.
    We also realized she never asked how the boys wanted their burgers cooked, so they too were over done.
    The entire time we were waiting for our food (a long time for an empty restaurant) we could see the two cooks in the kitchen fooling around and snacking.
    It saddens me that Andy's good name is being tarnished. I only hope over time Bombay's can make improvements on their staff. Needless to say, if we decide to go back in the future, we will make sure Andy is working.
    Great place with a fun vibe. Best nights are every other Sunday for Electroshock. Great Djs and dancing plus raffles with prizes. Then once a month in Thursdays they have RAW artist which is a great place for networking in the arts with music, art, photography, make up, and fashion.
    Came in off the street on a Sunday afternoon as we walked by and heard a band with a unique sound. The doorman was very welcoming and the bar patrons did seem to have a reserved yet pleasant vibe. We had an Old Fashion which was great, only thing missing was the sugar. Oh well. Will definitely check it out again when in the area.
    Food: SO GOOD! I can't think I've had chicken nachos any better than I just had here. There was the perfect ratio of all the right stuff: chicken, jalapeños, cheese, pico de gallo etc. it was an appetizer, my friend and I split it, but it easily could be a meal if you're in the mood to grub on some nacho yumminess. Also had a forgettable burger (asked for it without the bun but it still came with). It had bacon (which was amazing!) and bleu cheese (which didn't do anything to add to the burger at all). I could've stuck with the nachos and been quite content.
    Atmosphere: Bombay has a chill, beachy vibe and is full of regulars- a good sign. There is live music every day after four, and the band was quite decent. The only complaint would be that the music was way too loud. I'm a music lover, don't get me wrong. However the band was electric, amped, and there were 8 heavy duty speakers above the bar which made it impossible to think, let alone have a conversation with my friend. This however, is my only complaint.
    This restaurant is about an hour away from where I live, but I've already decided it is a destination to return to.
    A Wonderful Bar, the raw bricks in the front half, matched with the classic saloon style seating give this place an old timey feel, every act that plays here is a breath of fresh air for someone. The music coordinater Robin couldn't be better at his job at selecting only the most top notch local bands from southern california! The weekends become an explosion of culture as the two halves of the bar marry for a harmonious if not transcendent experience. You have two choices Rock Out in Front, or shake it in back. If you are in Ventura and want to have an AMAZING time come here! Oh and did i mention that mariono and mayra are here everyweekend serving up some incredible Carne Asada tacos, if for nothing else come to bombays on the weekends for cheap delicious TACOS!!!!!!!!
    UPDATE:  2/15/2013
      Well they totally trashed the old menu and brought in a different chef. Seems they didn't want to be serving "what everyone else had on the menu" which is BAR FOOD!
    Hey, this IS a bar...
    Now they have "gourmet" burgers with a stupid wheat bun and enough
    seeds on top to obscure the bun. The bun was larger than the meat and not grilled.  The burgers seem smaller and are served with sweet SALAD GREENS instead of lettuce- yuck!  Do you want a sweet hamburger? There was a smattering of caramelized onions on the meat, maybe a tablespoon's worth.
    They claim it's still 1/2 pound, but maybe that's the whole sandwich. No more mushrooms, but you can get a single gourmet portabello on top
    for an extra buck.  The meat was cooked medium rare as I ordered but no seasoning that I could discern. I suppose the "made-in-house" special sauce is supposed to cover up the lack of flavor, but I had them serve it on the side.
    Maybe someone watched too many episodes of Bar Rescue, but this place was doing fine.
    According to the lady behind the bar everything was changed in September 2012.
    They brought in the chef from the defunct Brooks Restaurant.  Think there is a reason that restaurant closed?
    The old burgers were awesome - nice and tasty, big, and would fill you up. I left this place hungry and went to In-N-Out for a decent double-double.
    Why do all my favorite places change or go out of business?
    Sadly, Bombay has now dropped out of my places to eat. I'll move the burger quality to just under Hawaiian Burger.
    PLEASE Disregard everything below this sentence as it is from my old review:
    You really need to try the huge burgers, they are fantastic!  Better than Fatburger, The Habit, In-n-Out, etc...
    Can't speak about the rest of the food as I just order a medium-rare burger to fill me up. Yum!
    Bombay is interesting because they have two different dance floors for two different types of music: the first dance floor by the entrance has a live band playing some non-mainstream, jive music and the other dance floor has a top 40's, mainstream music for the bump and grind (which I definitely saw on the cushion couches against the wall lol).
    Spent my time dancing in the top 40's dance floor and it wasn't really packed but it also wasn't empty which is good. A small crowd of party people took up the dance floor while there are the masculine wall flowers watching the party people getting down lol
    A con of the night was the cost of drinks: 2 AMFs were $19 :( Damn, I didn't think AMFs cost that much...unless we were in Vegas BUT we WEREN'T lol
    A pro I would say is the nice outdoor patio area for fresh air from all that sweaty dancing and getting low haha.
    I think I'd only come here for special occasions like birthday celebrations but not a choice of preference for a night out in Ventura.
    Bombay is my favorite place for three reasons:
    1.) Sunday Football
    I love waking up, throwing on my Rodgers jersey and heading down to Bombay for 10am games.  They must have at least 12 TVs so you can walk up and down the bar to check all the scores.  It's a great atmosphere, lots of regulars rooting on their favorite teams, and family friendly.  Breakfast is awesome!  The portions are large and priced right.  They have the best Bloody Marys in town (in my humble opinion) and they're only $3 on Sundays.
    -Thanks for always making mine extra spicy, Trudy!  You've cured more hangovers than I'd like to admit.
    2.) Monday Night Football
    Every seat in the bar is a good one for Monday night games.  $3 Miller Light and $1.50 tacos give me the night off from cooking dinner it's the perfect end for a bad case of the Mondays.
    3.) UFC
    Enough said.
    The staff and bartenders are friendly and always treat us like family.  I would recommend Bombay to all football and UFC fans.  It's the perfect neighborhood bar - not just a nightclub.
    I have been to the nightclub here several times, on Friday it not packed until maybe 12:30, so you have to wait around for time to let it fill up.
    On Saturday, its gets pretty packed and you can have a good time. Like any club more guys than girls, but make the best of it
    I had to go here for a birthday party. I will never EVER go back, not my scene.
    The crowd was gross, some drunk girls were walking around barefoot on the wet bathroom floor. ugh sick.
    I'm giving the 2 stars for the bartenders, they were cool.
    The live band was awesome the drinks were nice and stiff... the boner killer was-- the crowd. Big, territorial females that stare you down cause you like to get down. The DJ plays cool music, what is one to do?
    I'll only go back here if my friend celebrates another birthday and I'm forced to return. Otherwise... I'll stick to skinny Hollywood.
    You know, I've heard stories about Bombay's, how it's sketchy and what not. So of coarse I was a little hesitant to go when I did! I was trying to convince my friends to go to Cafe Fiore because I've heard better things about that place, and they happen to be in in the same area.
    But no, my friends wanted to to dance to some hip hop and Bombay's had it! OK So to get in, it was free that night! Alright, I've heard stories about it being $10 to get in, not so much the case! So plus star for that.
    Inside: To be honest I was just at the bar section, and it was pretty clean, nice wooden tables with a wooden bar stand! Bartender was really cool, beer was not that expensive and the people who were there were there to dance, listen to music, and maybe meet some people! I didn't see any people who were too pretentious or cocky, so plus points for that! I notice there was a loud dance floor in the back, which I did not go because it sounded a little loud, and maybe the sketchy part of Bombay's!
    The band that was playing at the bar entrance was also really good, they were doing covers of Rhianna, Lady Gaga, 50 Cent, Usher, etc. and they did not ruin it.
    All in all it was a good experience, I guess it depends on the night that you go. I went to on a Saturday night, so I don't know if that's the best night to go, but I enjoyed my stay there! I guess my thought of this place change.
    Now, I won't go to this place as my to go bar, however if someone says, 'hey lets go to Bombay's" this time I'll just say, "Sure."
    New to the area and bored out of my mind, I ventured down to Bombay's after window shopping in Downtown. It was early, around 7, and the place was really empty. I ordered a rum and coke and a caesar salad.
    Drink was good, salad was better and the bartenders were super nice. I stayed long enough for the crowd to roll in (around 10:30/11) and had a blast. The bartender Randy kept my drink full and a fresh bottle of water available at all times. He even covered my drink when I went to the restroom and threw a few free ones in too. The crowd was pretty young and rough around the edges but very entertaining.
    I left at closing, incredibly intoxicated, but eager to return! Next time I go, I am need to rope a male friend into joining, so I can avoid getting confronted by one of the two dudes I gave fake digits to, eek!
    Go there, bring friends, tell the bartenders they are awesome!
    From reading other people's reviews, I wasn't looking too forward to coming to this joint. The only reason I went out was to see a band I was somewhat interested in. Especially since the drive is a solid 75 miles from my house.
    I was impressed, no, rather amused that the staff (men) were in white shirts and bow ties. Remember, this is a bar and grill, not a french restaurant. I had no problems getting in, considering I look like I'm only a high schooler.
    Once inside though, wow. Since I don't live in Ventura and frequent this bar a lot, I don't know the normal crowd. All I can say was that this place was jam packed. And for those that say there are older, creepy guys around, I didn't see too many. I see more at my local dive bar, the colorado. But there were a lot and a lot of yuppies. Beautiful young women all dolled up, young twenty guys dressing as skaters. Perfect place for the majority of young people.
    Bands playing were mediocre at best. But after a few drinks, it doesn't make that much of a difference unless they really suck.
    All in all, it was a nice place.
    Pros:
    - young people
    - average price drinks (&5.25 for a corona)
    - free parking structure half a block up
    Cons:
    - totally crowded (could've been that night only though)
    - too loud, especially with a live band up front
    - not enough sitting space
    We're big fans of NFL football, but even bigger fans of going out for Monday Night Football.
    We've visited Bombay on two recent Monday nights and are convinced that this is the place to go if you'd like to watch the game and get a big discount on your food & beverage order.
    Our first visit cost us $21 (plus tip) for 6 beers, 20 buffalo wings, potato skins, & more. Last Monday's bill was $18.50 (plus tip) for 5 beers, two hamburgers, 10 buffalo wings, & a plate of french fries.
    Highlights:
    - Half off virtually all alcoholic beverages
    - Twenty five cent Buffalo wings (plus other specials)
    - Three dollar hamburgers
    - Plenty of flat screen TVs, including a ten foot projection screen
    - Comfortable bar stools & booths
    - Staff that treats you like a high roller despite the low bill
    Oh shit, it's Monday evening at 5:00 pm, so I gotta sign off - we're heading out for Monday Night Football at Bombay's.
    P.S. They also show Sunday NFL football games starting at 9:00 am, including specials on breakfast, beers, & Bloody Marys.
    I went here for a night because a friend said it would be a decent place to go, and the DJ's there played some good music to dance to.
    First and foremost, if you're going to this place to dance, and it's not for live music...wrong bar. There is a "club" section in the back...but more on that in a second.
    The bar itself is pretty clean, and nice. It's rather long...I'd say a good 150-200 feet or so. Corona was 5.25...and I hate carrying change when I'm drinking. I'd rather pay an even 5.
    The "club" part in the back is clearly an afterthought. We got there at about 11:00 and there wasn't even a DJ there! The DJ didn't show up until about 12:15, and the place closes at 1:45...an hour and a half of music for a saturday night? I'd rather head to westlake if I'm going to be in the Ventura County. Also, the crowd ranges anywhere from dudes in tank-tops to rather husky cougars in skirts. One of them fell over when she tried to go down on some guy.
    I won't be returning in the future.
    Review Source:
    Wow, either I got lucky or just didn't care...Saw plenty more cougars than aging hipsters and even then 90% of the crowd was younger than I (you can guess, since a gentleman doesn't give away such information that easily). Newcastle on tap and it was damn good. The sheer fact that my waitress was a) attentive, b)just my type, and c) ready to cut me off when it was about that time is more than I can say for the other place I just reviewed.
    Go here for the Karaoke & the occasional good band, but the reasons I enjoy not going are far more plentiful.  Not only is it a bit of a skank-pit, but as a beer drinker I have never been so offended to see a place allowed to pour Guinness from the tap.  Not a single one of their bartenders seems to know how to pour a Guinness properly, they just rush it into the glass & slosh it over to you.  It tastes like 50% chemicals.  Whenever I remember this fact, I'll switch to a bottle beer, but I guess they don't move enough of the bottles that aren't Budweiser or Bud Light b/c my Newcatsle tasted skunked or expired.  Also, although I know they have food here, judging by how much my feet stick to the floor as I walk, I remain cautious to ever stay that long for the food.
    I'm giving them four stars for the Karaoke there.
    Leigh Balton who won KJ of the Year a couple of years ago, puts on a good show and her collection is awesome. Ventura has some great bands and some of the members hang out on the Karaoke nights.. You hear some great singers sometimes and  Leigh has a voice like Etta James herself. Ask her to sing  "At Last "and you tell me.
    The reviews here are obviously for the band nights but I only go on Karaoke nights which are Sun, Mon, Tue and can only comment on them.
    My only complaint is that the girl's assume you are there to be picked up and that gets a little old.
    Can't  a  old guy enjoy karaoke without being treated like a piece of meat by the girls? (Oh yeah, whomever put the panties under my windshield wiper? My girlfriend wasn't amused)
