I liked this place for many reasons
1 - adorable staff who loved to chat with
2 - chill ambiance complete with exposed brick and opposite of pretentious
3 - delicious VEGAN food
4 - 100% VEGAN
5 - made our drive through Spokane on a holiday fantastic and filled us up with goodness minus the cruelty
and now for the food...
we each got a trio because honestly we wanted to eat each of the 13 dishes but settled for 6 tasty samples. Â between us we tried the hash (yum), mac and cheese (yum), beet and carrot salad (super yum), potato nicoise (yum), and spicy slaw (spicy yum). Â The flavors and colors were delightful. Â I love the no frills goodness of this place. Â most dishes could be eaten cold and enjoyed. However for the dishes which are better eaten warmed (mac and cheese and hash, for example) are nooked in a microwave which is a turn off. Â It's a small but important detail for me personally. Â
I have to say though I am thrilled and proud that there is a thriving joint like this in the area.
I'm not vegan and I never will be, but I try to eat healthy food that I like, with that in mind the food at boots is great, my favorites are the buckeye bar and the corn chowder. The cupcakes have a nice amount of frosting and there is always a big variety to choose from. My wife really likes the power greens and the tofu scramble. There's plenty of items I have not tried yet. The staff at boots is great very friendly and always ready to answer any questions I have. Boots has become one of my favorite places to eat out or just have a cup of organic coffee in spokane. If you haven't tried vegan food do so at boots and you'll be pleasantly surprised  :-)
Review Source:I really enjoyed this place. I went in twice while I was visiting. As soon as I walked in, both times, I was greeted so kindly and with a smile. Loved the customer service and the atmosphere. I had a great Latte too. I would like to see a bit more food items. For instance, a sandwich and/or maybe a wrap. Plenty of great salad choices and sweets. If you get a chance, check it out.
Review Source:I've come here three time now and come to the conclusion that unless you're a regular customer or friends with the staff your service will be sub par. Today after I ordered my mocha to go the barista started to have a conversation with the customers in the booth behind me while I was standing at the register waiting for my coffee. Not only that but the conversation was less than appropriate. Awkwardly I stood there watching her make my coffee as I couldn't help but overhear her conversation. This is a neat place and great food, but unless the service steps it up I won't be back and my review will be shared with my friends.
Review Source:Still in love with everything Boots delivers. Love love love.
I recently became aware of a social change idea called "suspended coffee" where I (the patron) buy my drink and pay in advance for a drink that someone may not be able to afford .. it is held for later and someone who is without funds can have the drink I bought. Great, right? Well, I asked Alison Collins if we could do this, and she (Classic Alison) took this one step further and pledged to match each donated drink 1:1.
Brilliant.
I can help folks in need AND support a rad local business. This is how community thrives. [outpouring of love goes here]
Probably the only Vegan bakery in Spokane that I know of. It is absolutely delicious and the customer service is just IMPECCABLE! Just lovely.
They have many healthy options and ... vegan desserts (cupcakes, brownies, etc). So whenever I want a cupcake and not feel so bad, I definitely go here. It is absolutely delicious, everything here! My favorite is the eggless sandwich, red velvet cupcake, and lentil bean salad. They rotate their food every now and then. It's a cute little bakery that has the cutest outdoor seating and unique seating. The owner is just wonderful and she has the zest and passion for the product she makes (I'm a facebook fan hehe). GREAT BAKERY!
Service was good.
But it is pricy!! 15 bucks for two boxes that were barely filled. And honestly the food wasn't that great... I much rather go to the co op where it's cheaper and you get so much more. We got the sausage hash which is actually soy. This one was decent. The Mac and cheese wasn't that great tasting. Plain. The green salad I enjoyed but only because of the lemon dressing. I barely got any of it. Sad. And we also tried the spaghetti with beans which again, didnt taste that great. I don't think I will be coming back, but to each their own!
During my last visit to Spokane I spent about 2 hours at Boots prior to my flight. My friend and I enjoyed such good food, wonderful friendly staff and some pretty rockin mimosas! They were out of orange juice so our second drink was with grapefruit and something else and was easily the best mimosa I have ever had! I let me tell you, I have a had some mimosas. We also got a free cookie fresh out of the oven! For sure my favorite spot in Spokane!
Review Source:You don't have to be vegan to love Boots, but it helps.......the animals, the planet, and your health! And when you discover how delicious it can be to eat a plant-based diet, why not?! Go vegan! There I said it. How freakin predictable. Just support them. It's awesome food in a town full of restaurants, most of them with mediocre or worse "food". The staff is very friendly and tolerant of my indecisiveness. You can do yoga next door and then shop at a health food store afterwards! Just stay on this block and you'll be ok.
Review Source:OMG I've been here I think three times and each time was better than the last! I'm not a vegan but I had the BEST brownie of my life here. Also- I had some sort of ginger lemon drink that was AMAZING (freshly squeezed) and also tried the enchilada casserole. I can safely say this place has the nicest ambiance of any place in Spokane - beautiful art, high ceilings, big windows and tons of beautiful lights! You have to go to Boots! :)
Review Source:VEGAN! DELICIOUS! FRIENDLY!
These BOOTS may be made for walking but when it comes to this vegan bakery and lounge.. they wont be walking all over you...The Baked goods are great.. the coffee is immaculate and perfect and the Food is supreme.. A client clued me into this place existing and I have been ever grateful since.. Having Vegan food available in Spokane is a huge YAY! Its always very tasty.. and I get a new dish every time i go in.. they keep it interesting.. The staff are very friendly, nice and helpful.. they have compost-able cups which wins points in my world.. BOOTS..its were to eat and rest the feet.. YUM!
This place is the best and I lament that they aren't in LA. I was visiting for a weekend in October and went there two of the three days I was in town. I was kinda freaking out that Spokane even had an all-vegan establishment.
Their soups are the best soups I've ever had (tomato; black bean)!! I'll add that I went with my omnivore B/F and he absolutely loved them too! Warm, hearty, flavorful and not too spicy... perfection.
The seasonal pumpkin spice drink is devine (I ordered it as a tea instead of a latte).
The best dessert I tried was the chocolate chip zuccini muffin--so moist and irresistible. I wasn't really intrigued by any of the cold case items and some of the other desserts (PB fudge and molasses cookie) weren't the best they could be.
Also, the space is uber cute with a great 'repurposed' style, and the staff is very friendly.
I miss you every day, Boots. Take care of yourself!
This is a terrific addition to Spokane -- carnivores, don't let the vegan scare you off; you won't miss the flesh! The baked goods (I've had cupcakes, cookies, and muffins) are delicious (I'm still trying to figure out how that frosting tastes just like cream cheese frosting while remaining vegan...) as are the entrees.
I had the bbq tofu with greens and the forbidden rice; my mother had the tuno casserole and the tarragon potatoes; my sister had the curry and all were delectable. We shared a boozy brownie and a few cupcakes and took home shortbread cookies with jam in the middle. The cupcakes were just the right amount of dense and the brownie was appropriately chocolatey, with the boozy sauce changing it up in just the right way.
My only regret? I live out of town, so will only get to experience this place when I'm in Spokane.
I love Boots. They have excellent vegan and gluten-free fare. They have soups salads, entrees and amazing baked goods ( also gluten free). Â Menu changes daily to reflect what's in season. The food is flavorful and is super fresh and creative. I like that it's different every time I go in. Â It has a fun vibe inside. The servers are great... positive and friendly. The decor is eclectic ( in a good way) with repurposed and artfully created tables and benches. The bar itself is also recycled from an old bar, and in my opinion, is the coolest in town. Over all, it has a good feel, with old exposed brick walls , high ceilings and wood floors. They serve really good coffee.... and in the morning, full sunlight hits the outside tables which happens no where else downtown. They also know how to make a good cocktail.
Review Source:I would like to rate a 4 1/2 stars. Â I am really excited because it is hard to find vegan or gluten free as a main offering. Â Of course, you can always get a salad, but you can't always get healthy, fresh, balanced and tasty food. Â AND dessert.. Â don't miss the vegan carrot cupcakes
Review Source:Wow. Lots of people start small local restaurants saying they're going to do something innovative--which they may do at first--but usually slip into default restauranteering after the first month. Boots is a new little joint but I suspect that this place which is already avant-garde enough to be a bakery, delicious lunch and dinner place and lounge is going to stay that way.
Besides being charming and artsy, almost all the food is deliciously vegan. An oxymoron you say? Don't panic at the word vegan, thinking tasteless horse food. To the contrary, this is so good that you won't care or maybe even notice that there's no cheese or meat. Much is also gluten free. And the soups...yummy.
A sweet little outside area with colorful umbrellas makes a great people watching area especially who goes into Zola. In the alcohol arena, I've only had wine but I appreciated the selection. The Pinot Noir by the glass was fab.
Nice staff and owner/chef Alison is her wonderful informed self. I plan to eat there once a week or pick up stuff to bring home.
We stopped in Boot's quite by accident because we were actually looking for Rocket Bakery which used to be in this location. Boots is just opened and while we only had an Americano and a Cafe Mocha, they were perfectly made and delicious. Â My milk was perfectly steamed and espresso shots perfectly pulled. Â The staff was pleasant, and the owner very friendly. Â We visit the Spokane area several times a year and look forward to our next visit to Boots!
Review Source:What a fun, charming place to hang out. It just opened on Monday, but already it has sooo much to offer! Cozy, creative seating options, gluten free and vegan food, coffee, tea, alcoholic beverages . . . you can easily spend an entire evening here. I always look for different, fun places to hang out when I travel - this one was a special find.
I tried a carrot cake cupcake that was stupendous. It has a thick, creamy frosting that is sprinkled with coconut and pumpkin seeds. It was a delicious match for my iced coffee.
I was also given a kale chip to try. Wow! Who thought kale could taste so good. Hopefully they'll add it to their menu soon.
There's no sign yet, but it's directly across from Saranac on Main. A deck is being built in the front.
