I enjoyed my meal at Brass Monkey while I was in town on a business trip. I struck up a friendly conversation with some of the gentlemen at the bar next to me. Two of the patrons worked at a nearby army base, and they were friendly and had interesting stories to tell.
I had a dish that was spicy chicken on rice. I was pleased with the portion and the deliciousness. Wednesday is craft beer day, where craft beer is cheap. They also hosted a poker tournament while I was there. People enjoyed it, but I don't know if it is a regular occurrence. They also have Karaoke (Thursday?).
Good bar food, nice people. I will return when I am in the area.
Are you in the Chester area looking for a great happy hour spot? This is the spot for you. What a great place to go for a quick drink with friends. This sports-bar feel restaurant has more than enough to fill your needs for happy hour after a long day. Do you smoke? They have a seperate side of the establishment for you to enjoy your brews in. And, if you don't smoke or just want to sit down and grab a bite to eat, there is a non-smoking side for you to enjoy as well.
Simple basic brews on tap, but the staff will ensure you have a great time. The bartenders are super kind and will ensure your drink stays full- if you have the time to sit and enjoy more than one. Great specials on food and drinks during the week- so go check them out as they often change.
Oh yes, and the food. If you do decide that sit down is more your style, go for one of their killer burgers- with more than enough cow to spare between two buns, this place is surely going to fill the hungriest of burger fans in the area. I have even heard of the grilled cheese burger- go check out the heart attack on a plate and see if you can withstand all the flavor on that plate!
Started with nachos as an appetizer, and they were awesome. Wife's salad was okay. I got the 1/2 pound hot dog, and should have known better. That's too big for a hot dog, and almost impossible to eat. The saving grace were the french fries. Some of the best I've ever eaten. This place is worth another try in my book.
Review Source:I work in the area so was looking for something different than the usual spots... Went on Black Friday everything was 1/2 price.. I got the special which was Blackjack Sliders and my husband had the wings. Everything was fresh and hot....grilled bun...the sweet tea good.. My husband had a beer & lots of TV's to choose from; and service was better than some of the places around here. Normally I avoid "Sports Bar" but I would definitely go back.
Review Source:Honestly the dinning section seems to be lacking a little bit, the waitress was pretty rude, the food was mediocre. I ordered a burger though the meat was cooked correctly it didn't taste so good with a cold bun. My girlfriend got pizza with tomatoes and spinach on it and the entire thing was like dripping wet (not even exaggerating) and soggy, it wasn't even editable! Also had the Monkey Balls again but this time they tasted a bit off and had a lot of cartilage in them. This place keeps being a hit or miss, nothing really consistent except the low standards in their food.
The beer was poured well though...
We went back and they stepped up their game. It was Father's Day and I was told all fathers could get a free hot dog plate, or hamburger plate. Now in my previous review I mentioned I saw this ginormas hot dog. That is what I ordered and my wife got the fried chicken. Now our waitress Amanda was outstanding as we had her rolling. When our food came out it was piping hot and looked some kinda yummy. Well this hot dog is a 1/4 pound of angus beef, and piled high stuff to many to name. And the chicken it was nice and crisp and not greasy, but the baked potato was hard. So we flagged down Amanda and she got us another one no questions asked. My wife couldn't eat all the chicken so she boxed it up for home. I could barely finish that huge hot dog, and when I did I was done for the day. I think I have now found what this place cooks good so I will find out on my next visit.
Review Source:This a locally owned restaurant that is in the building that used to house Uno Chicago Grill. Â The lights and booths are still from its days as Uno, but I noticed a bar and several hd-tv sets have been added.
I was there at lunch and ordered the Fat Boy Burger. Â This was described as two grilled cheese sandwiches with a bacon burger in-between and a fried egg on top. Â That is an accurate description. Â For my side I ordered macaroni & cheese.
This was an awesome burger. The combo of grilled cheese, fried egg, and meaty burger was delicious - and large. Â I was also impressed with the macaroni and cheese that had been cooked in its own bowl and served hot.
The menu offers brunch items all day on the weekends. Â Bar area has signage asking that all be over 21 in the restaurant after 8:30 pm.
Very impressed with this local restaurant.
Brass Monkey replaced UNOs at this location, so we thought we would try it out.
The waitress was very nice and engaging and very knowledgeable about the menu.
Our food was delivered quickly and was delicious. The only complaint I have is the prices are a bit higher than the rest of the area for the amount of food served.
I only got a Greek salad with grilled chicken strips and it was over 10.00. That is about 1.50 higher than the local competition. That doesn't sound like much, but if that is the average price of all the meals higher than the competition and you bring in a family of 4, you have added 8.00 more to the meal.
So.. if I had a choice of going to a place of the same caliber, I would opt for the cheaper price. It is just simple economics for these days and times.
Other than that... it seems to be a nice place.
