When this place was a coffee shop that did sandwiches - a block down the street from where they are now - they were awesome. Â Fun, funky, great coffee - a great local hang-out. Â Now they're trying for an upgrade, a sit-down restaurant with a coffee bar next door, and while the food is pretty good, they should have stuck with what works. Â The service is inconsistent - the first time we went in we stood at the counter for about three minutes before anyone noticed we were in the building (it was the middle of the afternoon, so business was slow.) Â Someone finally came to take our order - not a sit-down, just a couple frap drinks to go. Â When they finally came out they were hot drinks to go. Â Oh well, the espresso was tasty. Â Second time we went for breakfast, and the food was mostly pretty good with a few disappointments - blueberry pancakes turned out to be two pancakes with some blueberries squished between them (they forgot to put the blueberries in; the server was apologetic). Â But the portions were generous, and our server this time was very friendly and attentive. Â I still think it was better as a coffee shop, though.
Review Source:Found this place with yelp. We drove into tillamook to eat breakfast but couldn't find pacific house, drove back out to coast to go to this place. Glad we did, as Oceanside is actually a beautiful town. Don't miss the lighthouse up the road, beautiful large fressnel lens.
"Brewin in the wind" is across the street from the ocean, my family had breakfast here on a sunny but storming spring morning (after retreating off the cape lookout trail due to high winds!) There was a nice view of green lawn and waves crashing into the cove. Furniture was pleasant oak tables and chairs with waterproof place mats ( the kids checked)
I actually walked in thinking it was a brewery and wondering if kids were allowed and if they actually served breakfast, but the "brewin" in their name refers to their coffee.
Singularly amazing thing here is the coffee, it wasn't obvious how it was brewed. Strong fresh no sediment served in full size ceramic mugs you'd use at home. Waitress claimed it was simply drip coffee made with a paper basket filter, amazing. Their coffee isn't an accident, they have their grind and temperatures perfect. I kept asking for more information about the coffee, the waitress said it was Cafe D'Arte from Seattle, anyway I hope everyone else gets such excellent cups. I think I'm a coffee snob, we camp with a grinder and the stuff "Brewin'" serves is among the best drip I've had in my life.
The breakfast food was good, above diner quality but not amazing like Cafe Campagna or hells backbone grill but price is reasonable.
They kindly served me a burger (8:45am) and it was delicious, cooked a true medium rare, came with jalapeños. Meat was claimed Piedmontese, I think that might be the breed, not actually flown to tillamook from Italy on the concorde. Oil used for fries was light and delicious. Really good burger, really good coffee.
my daughter and i stopped here for breakfast and loved it. she had the basic eggs, potatos and toast option but was stoked she could sub a fresh criossant. i had the veggie breakfast burrito. both were good. my burrito had fresh salsa on it and the fried potatos were some of the best i've had in a while. also they have a espresso bar attached as an option, so the coffee was fresh and delicious. just what we needed to fill up and brave the storny beach outside. i know we will be back.
also, the servers were young and may not have been the most experienced but were very friendly. when my daughter had a question about the menu that she didn't know, she went and asked the kitchen for us.
Why I always "get it to go" here is beyond me. The interior just begs ya to sit down and strike up a visit with someone who is a capable visitor. I'm not sure the beans roasted are quite strong enough to float a quarter on, maybe a dime. I reckon I could ask for an extra shot next time. A winter day there with a view of a storm. Yeah, the next time the wind blows in, I blow down. Shiver me timbers!
Review Source:We were passing through around lunchtime and this was one of only two places that came up on Yelp as a place to get food. It was very very cold and what we really wanted was some clam chowder to warm us up. Fortunately they serve it here and it really hit the spot! They also had a decent selection of sandwiches and drinks. If you're here in warmer weather they have some frozen snacks as well.
The place isn't really big; there's probably seating for no more than a dozen people. Not a problem on the cold winter day we were visiting, thankfully. We had the place to ourselves, although some chatter would have been nice to drown out the dreadful background music.
This coffee shop has been a favorite  of mine for years and until recently only 1 or 2 restaurants in wonderful Oceanside, Oregon.  They just moved in to a larger location near the old location and seem to be still growing with it but they have excellent coffee drinks and a nice new more complete menu.
Review Source:I am going to cut them some slack...
They just moved down the street to 1505 Pacific Way, across from Roseanna's. I was absolutely charmed by their last location, which was a cozy little cottage above Oceanside Beach. The new location is larger, but since their first day of business was yesterday, they really haven't put their stamp on the new space.
Nothing was going right today (credit card machines, wi-fi), but again, I'm going to crack that up to growing pains. Hopefully within a week or two, one of my favorite coastal stops will be better than ever.
smallest joint i'll probably ever review...
Great little place if you're looking for a simple cup of coffee and a baked good. Thank goodness my dad and i walked in when the owner had just baked a batch of this amazing oatmeal apple muffin. I recommend you just ask whatever just came out of the oven because it seems like the owner bakes all day.
Brewin in the Wind, housed in a charming little shop connected to Oceanfront Cabins and situated above the public parking lot for the beach, offers a commanding and gorgeous view of the Pacific Ocean and the Three Arch Rocks. Â During our visit to this location in Oceanside, as well as a stop by the drive-through location in Tillamook, the shop was serving excellent coffee. Â (I'm pretty sure the dispenser at the Oceanside location contained coffee from Caffe d'Arte of Seattle, but Brewin's MySpace site says the shop serves coffee from Portland Roasting; either way, it was excellent.)
Unfortunately, the breakfast/brunch food we ordered didn't match the coffee and the view. Â A breakfast sandwich was oversalted egg, with sausage, on an apparently mircowaved, spongy croissant. Â Pretty bad. Â The wife ordered a tomato soup, which she reported was weirdly oily. Â Prices of this stuff were a bit high as well....
This is a fantastic spot for a cup of coffee, though. Â Close to five stars as a coffee stop, but closer to two for the food.
This what a beach side coffee shop should be. Makes me miss my haunts when I lived by the beach.
The view of the ocean out the window is amazing. The Americano coffee is tasty. The home made pastries are amazing. Free wifi, remember to get the password from the staff. Internet speed is pretty good for basic broadband. The selection of music is nice.
Great place to start or end ones day at the beach or even drop in during the day to get a great lunch.
As far as I could tell, aside from hotels (one having a bar & grill), this is the only place of commerce in town.
Cute little coffee shop - it felt like a hub in this small town. Â The girls behind the counter were nice and were busy baking some amazing looking things - I swear the cinnamon rolls are as thick as your arm.
I had a large coffee and went for a walk on the beach. Â Afterwards, I wanted another and was going to pay but when the girl saw me, said I got a free refill even though my first drink was to go and I no longer had my cup. Â I gave her a fat tip and enjoyingly filled up my (medium this time) coffee.
Didn't have any food but it all looked good. Â Nothing extraordinary but the customer service was top notch.
Full disclosure: I've never actually been inside this place. We stay at a beach down the way and I usually send my husband out hunting for food.
He came back with 2 amazingly tasty sandwiches. We shared a pistrami on rye that was great. Good balance of all ingredients (not one of those overloaded with meat, but not underloaded either) and it was wrapped in foil so it stayed warm. What a concept! The kids shared a turkey sandwich (again, warm!) and it was also quite good.
Said husband got himself a latte that he enjoyed. And he's a coffee snob so the fact that he didn't gripe is a big win.
We've been visiting the surrounding area for a long time but for some reason never hit this place. Now it will be part of every beach trip.
I've been to this teeny-tiny little gem twice now and have never been disappointed.
The first time, it was a rainy fall morning and I was chilled to the bone after being out in the rain. They have fantastic clam chowder that came in a huge bowl and it completely hit the spot.
The second time was on a busy, sunny, Saturday during Spring Break and I stopped by for lunch with the kids. On the menu I noticed "Asparagus and Bacon Lasagne". Nuff said! It was crazy delish.
The service is always super friendly, the food and coffee always good, and the view can't be beat. It's really small with just a few cozy tables. You order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. It's not required, but be nice and bus your own table, eh?
Extra points for decor and shakers of vanilla bean, nutmeg, and (I think) cumin available. Yes, it's true, yet another oasis of good food on the usually barren Oregon coast.
I had a couple lattes here; the first was great, the second was so-so. Â I think the barista was in-training on the second as she had to double-check what a double latte was. Â
Decent baked goods selection and good quality. Â
A nice place to sit and enjoy and so close to the beach!
Other trinkets for sale included beachy key-chains, decorative desk lamps (some beach-themed); I saw a sign for $25 kites, but alas, they were out of stock.
This is a very nice little coffee shop. Â More often than not, when Ms. K. and I visit Oceanside beach we stop in here to get a coffee on our way out of town. Â The coffee is competently prepared, prices are reasonable, and service is friendly. Â A great (and I believe the only) option.
