Absolutely worth by-passing the chain restaurants off of I-95! Charming interior and a welcoming smile from Jamie, the owner and her staff. Soups. salads, sandwiches and desserts are really good and fresh! I loved that there was no iceburg lettuce in the salads. They only serve spring mix greens and romaine. My wife got the "summer salad" which was romaine, dried cranberries, pecans, granny smith apples, grilled chicken and their homemade poppy seed dressing! I got their signature sandwich 'The Life of Riley" which was named after the owners son. Thinly sliced roastbeef, melted brie and a homemade plum sauce served on a toasted croissant! Seriously delicious! Â This will be a regular stop for us on our travels!
Review Source:This is a really cute place - definitely worth the drive from I-95 rather than eating at some fast food chains that shall not be named. I had the chicken salad with potato salad on the side. It was unexpected- almonds in the chicken and the potato salad is very smoky. I thought the chicken was dry, but everything else was very good. I also loved the friendly, local atmosphere. They had mix and match 6-packs and locally made candy for sale too.
Review Source:The town of Dunn, NC is in the process of renovating its downtown area (e.g. new sidewalks, repaving roads) and amongst this construct lays the restaurant/ cafe called the Broad St Deli & Market. Â This place is definitely worth dodging a construction cone or two to visit. Â
Atmosphere - Typical cafe style w/ most tables set for two (thought there are several tables set for four...too). Â Bright oak tables and chairs liven up the rather dark flooring of the restaurant w/ nick-knacks abound to keep your interest while you wait for your meal. Â Â
Food - The menu consists mostly of salads and sandwiches w/ a soup of the day disclosed upon inquiry. Â They sell craft beer and wine here too. Â
My selection on this day was "The Life of Riley", which consisted of thinly sliced roast beef, homemade plum sauce, and melted Brie inside a warmed croissant. Â You have your choice of croissant, whole wheat bread, or marble rye for your sandwich. Â Based on a recommendation from the server I went w/ the croissant. Â
Within a short time after ordering my meal arrived w/ a side of kettle chips, vinegar slaw, and a pickle. Â The sandwich was soft and warm w/ very tasty roast beef inside. Â While I think that the croissant was flavorful, I would like to try this sandwich again but on whole wheat bread to save a calorie or two. Â The chips were chips and the pickle a pickle. Â The slaw was interesting and refreshing, as it was very light tasting. Â Â
Service - Friendly, prompt, and communicative
Overall - I had a great experience and the food was of good quality. Â I would definitely stop here if in the area.
Note: They do occasionally offer dinner here, as I saw a sign stating a dinner scheduled for March 13...but the place is primarily open just for lunch. Â I would suggest calling ahead if trying dinner.
